I was hospitalized for a week rather recently. They put me in there for suicidle and homocidle idealation. It was one of the most miserable places I've ever been. They didn't have the right food for me (I'm a vegetarian) and didn't give me near enough sleep for what's needed with zyprexa. I got in a fight with a druggie chick while I was there over cheerleading of all things. I was the only adolecent in at the time that didn't cut. You had to have someone unlock the bathroom everytime you wanted to go. I did hundreds of packets to prove I was stable enough to get out. They did blood work all the time and I was just more than miserable in there. It didn't help me at all, the only reason I got sent home was because I had strep throat.

It sounds like pretty much everyone hated hospitalization. I had myself commited shortly after I was raped at 16, for rape counseling and rage management. I knew I was bi-polar but I wasn't taking my medication. I was lucky because they let me be an out patient. So I got to go home at the end of the day. The only thing that really pissed me off, was that they took my inhalor away, and when I had an anxiety attack that spawned an asthma attack, they told me to stop being dramatic, and I had to wait out the spasms... That and I came out more angry and confused than I went in.. Another thing that really bothered me was this one girl who was also bi-polar, and used it as an excuse to be a b***h.. If anyone called her on it, she said "Oh I can't help it, I'm bi-polar." I hate when people try to use their disorder as an excuse. I mean its one thing to explain behavior, like say showering seven times a day and washing your hands at least once an hour, by explaining a germphobia, but it's a whole different thing to act like a jerk and say that you can't help it, especially when it's a well known fact that THAT sort of behavioral problem is not associated with said disorder. Yeah so... [/rant]

I've never actually been hospitalized, but there's been times where I've been so close to it, and I may have done better off in one a few times, too. The idea has always freaked me out a bit.... All the medications and rules, and schedules and therapy appointments.. I think some of my friends have done just as much as a psych ward ever could, or even more. I owe them.

Everyone in my family has been hospitalized for mental problems at one point. O_o

My psychologist is planning on having me put in a hospital for a month... yes, a month straight. stressed

Especially hard for me, because I never leave my house.

I'm vegetarian too.
Why blood?

Bah. Never hospitalized. I should be thankful after reading your posts. Some of that stuff is actually borderline rediculous. It's the same with a lot of people though. You have to have been there to truly understand.

I have thought about suicide but I am too afraid to actually do anything. When I am manic it hasn;'t been to extreme...probably 'cause 'o the meds. stare
