Waiting had never been Rubido's strong point. Once secure in what was, by all accords, a "good spot," the young man had crossed his arms, looked about, and became, abruptly, bored. He fidgeted, settling his weight on one foot, then the other, readjusted his stance and subconsciously repeated the process. After a mere few minutes of this he gave up and started to look for familiar faces.

There were surprisingly few; at least, few he wanted to talk to about an execution. His dark eyes finally settled on a stack of boxes, and he recognized a vague acquaintance; Emi perched ingenuously at their brim. He took a step towards her, looked up, and -for once- reconsidered. That was a young woman who really didn't look like she wanted to talk to anyone. Rubido turned back, but threw a curious look behind him at her, just to be sure.

And them condemned himself to extreme, paralyzing, excruciating boredom for the sake of his private goal, and for the sake of the damned.

Feyd followed closely, covering Syrin as best he could. At Adalei's words he nodded his dark head, shooting a glance to Elliot. "I'll do my best." After all, he had promised to help.

He was rather keen on finally seeing this Quinn after all he heard about the man. It was turning out to be a very interesting day.

The babe for his part had taken an interest in the fabric of Feyd's cloak and was gumming it soggy. Much more a sleepy child then a fighter of any sort.

"Wait, what are they--" Adalei suddenly bit her lip, gripping Elliot's hand. Peace Enforcement units began unlocking the front gates, pulling apart the iron chains that had tangled around the bars. As the gates were pressed open by the eager mob that had gathered, Adalei turned fretful eyes to her companions.

"It's starting earlier that expected!" Leading the way to the crowd, she whispered quickly to Feyd and Elliot, "We'll move with the people...At least we won't have to worry about being seen by Peace Enforcement. Let's decide what to do once we get inside."

As Emi sat there, drifting off in her thoughts, though she would rather not be she snapped out of her thoughts as she look to see the gates openeing. She blinked for a moment...and shrug her shoulders...she did thought that the main event would happen right here..but she guessed wrong.

As she stood up to figure out the best path to go to find a decent spot, she looked down at the crowd and her eyes widen as she saw him...

not far from her was the man from yesterday, the one the screwed up her plan to help the old man...the one that had ruined any hope...the man..the man...the man....Emi's eyes remained wide eyed and open as both her hands clutched into fist as her nails dug into her gloves, feeling the uncontrollable rage and anger inside of her as if she herself was being drowned as if her entire body was falling into darkness as her eyesight started to fade in an-

Emi quickly shook her head as deep inside of her she screamed in her mind and quickly hid all the feelings, she knew something would happen, she knew it would happen oh how she knew it would happen if she kept it up like this. Taking a deep breath Emi quickly jumped down from the tall stack of boxes and quickly made her way through the crowd toward the now opened gates, her eyes were easily covered by the two strands of hair that layed perfectly under her eyes at times like this, only a "V" shaped tattoo from the top of her forehead until the point of the "V" ended inbetween the eyes. Trying to avoid eye contact with the others that she passed as she hastly and in a sly manner, made her way easily through the crowd and towards and past the gates....

Kitty eagerly peered past the crowd of people to see the gates swing open. Her heart fluttered lightly. They were really going to do this. She couldn't believe this. She was done asking people what this man had done, it seemed as if no one knew. But one thing was for sure. Every one had the notion that he was innocent... including Kitty.

“I guess I think that you can understand very much about who a person is by watching them die. You can maybe even understand them more in just a few seconds than if you spent a whole lifetime of watching them live. I guess in death, those few moments are the rest of your lifetime.”

Ishemerai did not respond immediately, instead waiting as the gates began to open. He watched the anticipation ripple through the crowd, and said, "I suppose the end being near brings it all into focus, somehow. After all, if we were that interested in the rest of other people's lives, we would never wait until the last minute to try and figure them out."

He motioned her forward, following the tide of onlookers. "Perhaps we would do better to walk away with something positive, as you say. People could learn a great deal about how they value those around them. Some of them might just realize it."

He paused again as they walked. "One can hope, anyway."

Duriel- crying
He paused again as they walked. "One can hope, anyway."

Elisheba smiled at him briefly, a warm twitch of her mouth, then she took his offered hand as he moved forward, into the massed crowd. She knew why he had offered his hand immediately. He moved through the crowd like a seal in the frozen sea: sleek and effortless and without leaving a ripple. If she had not had hold of his hand, she realized that she would have lost him immediately. As it was, she was kept safe on the tether of his hand – five long warm fingers and a pulse that told her she wasn't alone in this crowd of the faceless. She had learned early in the maze of the warrens that sometimes the place where one felt most alone was in the lean lap of a thousand people who did not care for you.

Through the gates and into the university proper, she watched him pause for a moment, perhaps selecting a safe spot to witness the execution. He led her to a tree and there stopped. She remembered that he didn't like to let his back stand to open air.

The crowd roared in around them, but the tree acted as a break, streaming the masses around them as opposed to pushing through them. Elisheba leaned against the tree.

“Do you think the person they're executing has done something wrong? I know it's human nature to assume that in hard times only innocents get punished, but he could really have done terrible things – murdered people, raped children, or sold slaves. Although I have to confess, I have not made a thorough study of the laws of the city as they stand now. I only know what was punishable in the time before.” She looked at him sideways. “From books and things, you know?”

“T-thanks” She muttered with a genuine smile shifting the box towards her new friend. “T-the school I-is just over th-that way.” She nodded in the direction before setting off. Her eyes darted back and forth as she moved quickly through the crowd. She wanted ample time to find the people she sought out before the execution.

Her white skirted played with her legs when she finally came to a stop and a nice breeze blew. She sighed irritable as she waited for a moment where she could move at ALL into the area. “The gates must have just opened.” She murmured to Miaka who stared at her with emerald green orbs that ALMOST seemed as if they understood what she was saying.

When she finally managed to squeeze through she turned around to see if she could spot Esmerelda emerging from the mess of people. While waiting she caught a glimpse of a weird figure dressed in all blue. The clothes- she assumed must have been from a play or something. After all! Where else would one get such an outrageous outfit?
Her first thought was to go up to the person and ask if they knew Feyd, but that thought disappeared when she noticed the said person WITH the blue man. In...was...that a woman’s wig? She shook her head- deciding it couldn’t POSSIBLY be feyd and turned her attention back to waiting for the street performer.

The infant now rested her head on the youth's shoulder as the crowd ebbed forward through the gate. Eli didn't have much choice but to go with them, and didn't quite know what to expect. He'd never attended an execution before. His eyes swept over the people around him rather nervously before looking ahead of him in anticipation. There must be some nook he could slip into somewhere...

As Grondax neared the University entrance he noticed the swarms of people making their way inside. He though to himself that they were like cows heading to slaughter. None of them realized that they could be in the same position. Except for him... an intelligent cow for him then.

Grondax laughed at the thought, and almost missed the man that was now approaching him. Grondax looked over to see a simply dressed man with well kept black hair and small spectacles. While he didn't look intimidating in and of himself he had the mannerisms of someone that had the means to do as he pleased.

"Ah, Bishop, so you have come to partake of the execution yourself have you. It doesn't really surprise me, " remarked Grondax.

With a slight bow perfectly weighed to his subservience Bishop replied with a wry smile, "Better him than me, but I suppose we are all mortal. Death isn't something that matters. It just happens. One should just ignore the inevitable and concentrate on the present" Bishop realized he was going off on a tangent and waved in a different direction than the crowd was taking, "but since this death is in the present I see no harm in enjoying myself for a few hours. You never know who you may see or meet. I've arranged to be let in one of the side entrances. I found a nice niche between two buildings situated on a small hill. It should provide the perfect viewing conditions."

Grondax nodded an they made their way to the spot. When they arrived it was as Bishop said. "See I told you this was a fine spot, and with you here I need not worry about too many people coming by to stand. We should have a decent amount of peace for the execution." They leaned against the side of one of the buildings and waited for the execution to begin.

Annie made her way through the crowd, slipping between people with hurried ease, which was something to be said for a cripple carrying a basket of breads. She meandered for a bit, then moved towards the edges of the crowd, hoping to find customers who wouldn't have to worry about the river of people that were pushing forwards towards...what would It - yes, capital I - be called? Annie wondered. "The show, I suppose." She murmured, pausing for a moment to adjust her father's overly-large surcoat on her overly-lithe form and tuck a stray hair back into her messy at-the-last-minute up-do. She glanced up for a moment and saw the man and the babe hiked over his shoulder. Annie looked at the pair curiously before approaching. "Something for the babe to eat, sir?" She asked, displaying the basket of bread on her right hip.

Date: Day 4 of Summer
Time: Late Afternoon/Early Evening
Weather: Cool, slightly cloudy, windy

Nekura gave a sigh as he sat up in his bed. He looked out at the window and took a guess at the time of the day. This urged him on to climb out of his bed. He looked over his clothing and then moved on to the bathroom to do his best at cleaning himself up.

"...There's an execution today...Lovely just...what I want to attend, a death." Nekura murmured to himself. He then fell silent and began washing himself down. Once he was washed and dried he gathered up his clothing which had been hung up to dry before he had gone to bed.

"...Again I will be going out and doing what I can to ease the suffering of this city..." He shook his head and dressed as quickly as he could, putting each and every item he hid in his coat. With a final look in his broken mirror, the best he could scrounge up.

He then turned and made his way out of the section of the house he lived in and quickly made his way through to where the crowd was gathering to view the execution. He didn't feel the need to talk to anyone right now because well, he was attending an execution. He showed just to not be 'suspicious' by missing it.

Yami shuffled her feet, her dirty, blistered feet, torn up from walking every single day without a pair of shoes, and living with and accepting the fact that she wore the same dress almost every single day.

She felt a sadness welling up in her heart, knowing she failed in finding her sisters whereabouts. She failed as a sister period. A welling lump in her throat as she couldn't explain why she had so easily left her sister, and found herself days off from her search.

Yami ended up back at her house, the small house that the two of them chipped in to buy with their own money. THEIR money...not hers, not Hikaris alone...TOGETHER....

...and together they were not...Yami opened the door with a sniff, and headed straight towards her room, her eyes not wanting to drift from its comfortable gaze towards the floorboards.

She sat in her room, her arms spread out lying against the floor, and her eyes drifting around her room as if she was once a lifeless doll, experiencing having a soul for the first time....except Yami's one wasn't the same....she felt...

...a chunk of her soul had been ripped out...
...and that her need for Hikari...grew more....

Eli blinked in surprise a couple times before processing her question. His free arm was a restrained flutter of movement as he nervously patted around his waist, spouting a spew of words that could be interpreted as, "Oh, yes, right! I'm not sure if I have anything with me at the moment- uh, how much for a loaf?" A blush plastered itself to his face, the infant grasping a lock of his hair in her hand. He hadn't quite found whatever coinage he was searching for, however, and almost looked as if he were ready to spin in circles and look under neighboring feet.
