Jhin’s head was throbbing with pain, but he eventually stirred after a few moments. Vaguely he remembered being dragged through the water and he found himself reaching around the ground, his hands curling around something warmth and familiar. A sigh of relief left his lips as he rolled on his back and groggily brought Kyril’s hand to his chest, his own fingers tightly holding onto her hand for comfort. It was nostalgic like the day he had dove into the waterfalls to rescue Giya and for a moment he was reliving the memory before realizing that he was holding onto Kyril and not the Oban ranger who had left Tale weeks ago. His fingers quickly let go and Jhin found himself quickly sitting up as his mind caught up to the present and he assessed the situation. “Are you alright?” He managed before letting out a soft curse as he realized they were on the opposite bank. “You shouldn’t have jumped into the stream like that. What if you had gotten injured again?”

“It was worth it.” Breathed Kyril, her heart beating in her chest as she laid on the ground, “I think I’m just mostly winded and not injured so don’t worry as much.” He was right next to her and she already missed the warmth from his hands. Whatever that moment had been she wanted to know more, but Kyril simply turned to her side so that she could study Jhin closely. “Are you alright?” She repeated his own question back towards him before reaching out to gingerly touch his head. “That was a good hit you took.” She scooted closer, her face a breath away from his own as she leaned over and checked to make certain there weren't any open wounds from where the log had struck him.

“Stubborn, but....” Protested Jhin weakly before finding himself face to face with Kyril. How could he have ever mistaken her for Giya? There was just something about those golden eyes and the sweet tone of her voice, even if they were arguing, that made him feel more flustered than ever before. Even the teal of her hair seemed to shimmer like water, the damp strands tangled around her face from where they had escaped her braid. “Beautiful.” He managed quietly as he reached up to tuck the stray strands back behind a finned ear. Maybe he was fuzzy headed from the injury but Jhin let the compliment slip from his lips as he studied Kyril, the shift in her expression catching his attention. How could someone be such a stubborn pain and so beautiful at the same time? She was driving him crazy with worry by constantly ignoring herself to help others out. That was how she had gotten stuck here in the first place and he still couldn’t believe the artisan had tried fighting bandits on her own.

“Jhin…” Kyril’s gaze widened at the compliment and she found herself reacting to that gentle voice and sincere gaze. Dammit. Perhaps she had fallen a bit too hard when she decided to take that blow for the man during that fight with the bandits, but it seemed she was stuck on this path now. It was just time to see where it would take her. Kyril didn’t even think and acted with her own gut feeling as she moved forward and kissed Jhin before he could pull away again. If he wouldn’t make the first move then by the gods she would! They were both soaking wet and stuck on the other side of the stream, but she didn’t care about any of that at the moment. She just didn’t want to let him slip away from her and hide beneath that cool exterior again. She needed this, she had to find out what it was that she was feeling the more time she spent around this man.
What was she doing? Kyril’s cheeks blazed but her stubbornness showed through as she lightly rested her forehead against his own, the cold crystals along her forehead keeping her from completely pressing against him. “You can’t keep rescuing a girl, call her beautiful and not expect her to be moved.” She managed with a fiery gaze, her lips pursed almost in a pout that dared him to say anything otherwise.

He was completely flabbergasted, but Jhin was not angry at the sudden kiss. In fact, he found that he rather liked how it felt to kiss Kyril. “Fair enough.” He managed before moving so that he could actually capture her lips for another kiss. Something about it simply felt right and all of the tangled emotions in his chest were starting to unravel again all because of one hybrid woman who had tumbled into his life. The kisses deepened, Jhin carefully pulling Kyril so that she could rest in his lap, but after a bit he found himself pulling away so that she could rest her head on his shoulder. “We should probably dry off…” He began quietly as his mind raced to catch up with his actions, “We’ll have to cross back and gather everything we left behind.”
Something was different this time. Jhin didn’t see Kyril as someone to simply keep him company like Giya had wanted to do, but there was something deeper between them that he was honestly frightened of. Could he even dare to open himself back up at the chance of loss when he was still struggling to recover from the last person to leave his life? Jhin’s aqua gaze darted guiltily to the side before he finally helped Kyril to stand so that they could dry their clothing and gather back the baskets. It seemed the younglings would have the first pick of the berries today and he would have to trade them something for a basket of berries later instead of picking his own after all.
