Mira listened to them and once the meals were done she handed them to everyone, she had made hers last and sat down. "Well..since we dont know how long we are going to be here..what are we going to do for resources if we run out? I didn't see any small game around here... so its not like we could survive off that, and we cant go far enough into the forest for me to try to hunt for food before we are brought right back here. " Mira looked at her food and started to eat it, sure these things weren't the best but they were better than nothing.
Mira's favorite happened to be the biscuits and gravy so it worked out. Mira then sighed "Alright instead of that.. we all need to get to know eachother.. but i'm not too good with introductions, So ill follow by example" Mira looked up to them "we need to know eachother, that way we can work more cohesively as a team" Mira glanced at them. (i thought about making a second character, gonna do that ^^)

Kaiyla looked from Mira and Eiki with a mouthful of food before swallowing. "Well, I guess I'll go first. Before I got into the University of Queensland for a medical degree, I actually worked at a vet clinic to pay for the tuition costs. Mind you, I was only a receptionist, but I remembered everything they told me. I have no siblings and I've been raised mostly out of my family home in Yerongpilly. My parents don't have a lot of free time so I've lived a life of independence and responsibilities. This is the only time I've ever been out of Brisbane city. I've never even travelled anywhere else in Australia," she admitted.
That realisation hit her hard; she'd never done much with her life that was exciting and worth talking about. She was a straight-A student in high school, got a job straight out of high school, and then went straight into university without hesitation. She'd never dated a boy, let alone held one's hand nor kissed one. She was just books and intelligence, little more than that. She angrily pushed her glasses back on to her face while eating her food. She hoped someone else would go next so she wouldn't be reminded of her boring life.

Eiki glanced from Kaiyla to Mira before the silence set in. He decided it was his turn to go next. "Well, first things first I'm gay. My mother, Hanako, remarried when she moved to California. She married a lovely Chinese-American named Chiharu and we live right near Los Angeles. I have four stepbrothers through Chiharu and a few cousins on that side. My dad died when I was four. I've always had a flair for the dramatics so my mum Hanako suggested theatrical arts as a degree. I want to be an actor, singer, dancer, all of it. That's me in a nutshell," he stated firmly.
He was a little curious to hear about Mira, the one person he knew the least about. Did she have some seriously tragic back story or would it be something plain? He guessed she'd travelled a lot because of her accent, changing between French and New Yorker.
Mira let them speak, she nodded and said "Well you know my name already but in the only way I know how. I'm Mira Lasatter. I was born in East Germany, and my mother died during birth. My father was a member of the United States Army, and often would be stationed in different places, despite working for the Us army, he often was stationed in different countries, for a while I lived in France and went to an all girls university... Then we moved back to Germany for a short time where I took survival courses, and then we moved to new york where we stayed. I went to Military school growing up. Also during the summer I went to survival summer cohesions and Military combat and Medical training summer camps.
My father recently died in the war against terror. " Mira looked at them both "When I was younger, i noticed I didn't feel things like normal kids did..i didn't get sad, angry.. none of it. One day I looked to my father...and asked him why i was so different, he just simply said to me 'not everyone feels' and ever since that has been my main mantre"

Kaiyla and Eiki exchanged glances before resuming the meal. The mood seemed to take a sour turn when Mira spoke. It was less about her medical condition and more about her family. In a way they were all children from troubled or broken families per say. Kaiyla may have two parents living, but they spent little time with her so much so that they were strangers. Eiki lived with two mothers and several stepsiblings. And Mira, poor Mira, had no family left for her it seemed. Kaiyla wondered what she was going to do once the trip was over and college over with. Would she join the ranks and go to Afghanistan as her father had before her?
"Are you going to become a full member of the American military later on? If we get out of here, I mean," Kaiyla mumbled.

Eiki listened to Kaiyla ask the question and was genuinely focused on the answer. Would Mira, knowing what happened to her father and countless others before her, risk her life for her country? Was it just because she felt no emotion? He did have a curious spark in him ignite with what she might answer with. He hoped it wouldn't open a darker door into her past, but it was a little late now to worry about that.
Mira heard her question and thought for a moment, then she nodded "Yeah I planned to.. A sergeant i spoke to said that I would be an example of a perfect soldier. " she looked to them "I guess its because I did so well in my classes, because since emotion doesn't factor in with me, i can act purely on rational..and follow orders." Mira took a sip of her water "Honestly its all i really know, I didn't really grow up knowing anything else. I didn't gain other skills like drawing or writing... Not even good social skills" Mira looked at the candle light "The worst part about the whole thing was, even when I was a young teen in military school, All of my classmates hated me because I was such a quote un quote perfect student..." Mira looked to them. Mira had no plans of doing it for the valor, the knowledge of defender her country didn't do it either, it was simply that she knew she wouldn't be able to do anything else.

Kaiyla understood too well what Mira was talking about. For a long time in her life, her parents wanted her to be just like them and do as they had. She never wanted to be a politician and followed her heart to be a doctor one day. That was where she and Mira differed; she had a choice and made it clear. Mira never really did because she was all but fated to one thing and that one thing only. It was sad, but it seemed to be something Mira was contented with. But that could have just been her lack of visible emotion.

"That's a little sad that you never got a chance to experience anything else, but I guess with your condition you don't have much else to do," he sighed.
He looked out the window to see the storm dying down. The hail had stopped and the rain was slowing as well. The wind still howled, but it was fading slowly as the minutes ticked by into hours. The lightning had already stopped and the thunder was silent. Crickets could be heard and fireflies had managed to come out of their hiding spots to illuminate the village streets with their bright glow.
Mira nodded and then move to the window "Looks like we might get a chance to go explore this place some " she looked to them "Also, don't uh..be sad for me i guess? I know that i cant do much because more often than not you need to have emotion to do alot of things but..something about me... I always wanted to be an artist." Mira looked out "the trouble was i never...kenw how to do it..because I had heard so many artists say that art needed to make people feel..and if you cant feel the emotion from your art yourself.. you cant do it"
Mira rubbed her arm and then said "thats why I got into Cartography..."

"We should try and get some sleep. If we want to find out anything and try and escape, we'll need our strength. If we sleep in shifts we can keep an eye out for both spirits and if the fire needs more wood. Mira, do you want to guard first?" Kaiyla asked.
She didn't have a sleeping bag, it wasn't something she carried with her. She never went camping ever in her life. She did bring a blanket though, one that was suitable for hot and cold temperatures. She guessed Eiki wouldn't have a sleeping bag either so she offered hers to him as well. They could both use their bags as a pillow. Maybe not the most ideal bedding, but it was better than no blanket at all on the cold floor.
As Kaiyla set up a make-shift bed on some tatami mats sitting against the wall, Eiki was moving the table back against the wall. Fatigue, this time natural, was setting in on them all.

"Sleep would be.....nice," Eiki said with a yawn between his words. He stretched and noticed the table still in the middle of the room. He moved it quickly while Kaiyla attempted to make a bed of sorts using their bags as pillows and her large blanket she'd brought with her.
As soon as his head hit his bag, he was out like a light. Everything was muffled and his vision was blurry. He heard Kaiyla snicker and talk about being the second person to be on guard duty so Eiki could sleep before being woken up earlier. She said something about making it out of the house around mid-morning (10am) so everyone had enough sleep over all. The rest of what she was saying to Mira, and Mira responding with, was lost on his tired ears.
Mira looked to them , seeing Eikis bizarre behavior. Mira had made a slight mistake in reaction, she didn't scream. Mira at first didn't even look startled bythe sudden change in Eiki's demeanor, then she formed a startled look on her face. She walked over to Eiki and Kaiyla kneeling down to Eiki and said to him "Look at me!" she barked the order, "You need to take a deep breath. and focus! Montgomery I need you to keep track on Rations. Right now we need to assume that we may be here for a while. I give an estimate of 2 months. This of course is hopefully a worst case. " she looked to Eiki "Clearly Eiki can see something that we cannot, that or he is having some form of hallucination. My medical knowledge is more for wound care and survival, not mental stability." Mira glanced over at her sketchbook "Can you assess Eiki?" she asked as she walked over and made sure to label the buildings she did manage to get on her map, the building they were in was labeled A01. The A was for a set square in the map, and 01 being the first and main building of importance.
Mira kept him like this, hoping he would calm down, she only stayed for a few moments before she got up and walked over to the duffle bag, she grabbed her flashlight and put the batteries inside. "

Kaiyla had been patiently waiting for Mira to answer when there was a wintry cold chill down her back and the sensation of dread. She looked up from polishing her glasses to see Mira had vanished, although he belongings were still sitting beside the others. She looked to Eiki with raised brows and stood slowly from where she had been sitting. "Did you see where she went?" she asked.
When Eiki replied with a no, she grew more worried. "People can't just vanish without a trace. We didn't hear any doors open or anything. She couldn't have gone into thin air. Maybe.....maybe we should look for her?" she worriedly admitted. She wanted to make sure Mira was safe, but the fatigue was creeping in slowly -- yet surely -- and she knew they would be likely to be hurt or get lost if they went outside.
The storm outside was raging, rain pouring and what sounded like hail clattering on the roof. Kaiyla rubbed her arms, the cold not leaving the room. She saw a fireplace in the corner and rummaged through her things. Damn, no lighter, she thought to herself with a discontented sigh.

Eiki was, just as much as Kaiyla, surprised to see Mira vanished in a split second. They had just been talking and it was her turn to say something. It caught him off guard and he didn't know how to react. Seeing Kaiyla worried made him feel bad; she was a strong and smart medical student. If you saw a doctor worried in a hospital, it was a bad thing and the situation was out of control. He hoped that wasn't the case here. He needed Kaiyla to be strong so they could get out of this mess.
"No sense chasing her down in this storm. And you of all people should know not to go out into a storm, let alone when you're so tired. We need to rest. She has to be in the village somewhere. We'll find her soon," Eiki admitted. He tried to be strong for her sake.
He saw her looking for something in her bag and noticed her sigh. Considering her placement near the fireplace, he assumed she was trying to light it. He looked around for something to burn, settling on some old wood carvings in the hallway. He felt bad for burning them, but they were desperate to fend off the cold. He used a lighter in his bag to set some kindling (a handful of Doritos chips he had in his bag) and poked at the fire with an iron firepoker nearby until it was bright and crackling.
"That should keep us going for a little while," he said, setting the firepoker down beside them both.
