What about like an RPGstuck? Either instead of Sgrub/Sburb being the end of the world, it's just a normal RPG game OR the Homestuck world reimagined as an MMORPG. Something like that.
... I could make a pretty awesome character for the latter...
In fact, I might be willing to try my hand at throwing together an RP for that.
It'd be like .hack or Sword Art online. Instead of the actual Sgrub/Sburb they'd be in an immersive sword and sorcery style game.
Ooh ooh. And your "In-Game character" wouldn't have to be the same as your "Out-Of-Game Character" so you could be a human that plays as a psionic troll... Or a Tyrian that plays as a Rust... ETC, ETC

I was going to suggest an animestuck where the characters actually become the characters in the series. I could explain it further if you are confused.

How about Showstuck/Visionstuck? This idea can go in two ways either the characters in this RP are actors of a show but due to strange events they have to actually BE their show characters forcefully to survive. Or the characters in the RP are sucked into their favorite show thus they have to take the place of the character of the show and they can't leave until the series is finished.
For the first idea it would be like that Tim Allen Sci-Fi movie.
Think of Dungeons & Dragons/Monster Rancher/Persona4 for the second idea.
What I am trying to say is what IF Sburb was a TV series that fans would watch and enjoy contributing a huge fanbase, the RP characters would be sucked INTO the TV series taking the place of the original characters but would still have their personalities intact but a few people will notice the differences. The creators of the television series would be the main villains if that can work, the RP characters are FORCED to go through EVERY event that happens in the series. If they can finish the series as planned or give it better ratings then MAYBE they can leave, unless they go against the creators who are Gods/Hussie in a sense. Which would kinda cause the show to "collapse" but would leave them in a type of stasis/limbo unless they can do reboots/seasons/parts of the show giving them more chances to hopefully find a way to escape but would be harder in the process each time they do this. (Hopefully this makes more sense this time.)

What about HistoricallyInclined? (A bit long, feel free to change). Picture this: it is set in an actual point in history. The characters are actual historical figures picked from points in time, or maybe just made up characters from real historical places and events (I'm thinking the missing colonists from Roanoke Island, the "CROATAN" mystery). They are friends who visit a joke shop and pick up a new game. The set has a book for each friend, each book containing a set of light instructions and split into two sections: one for communication and one for commands. What's written in the communications section by one person appears in the section for all of them. What's written in the commands section happens to the client player chosen by the server on the first page. The typical Homestuck session ensues, with an old school twist essentially.
