Feraligater pointed at the water and jumped in and floated back up as if to say, "Hop on."
Bruce smiled, "Looks like he would rather teach you than me teach you."

She looks at Bruce, then slowly moves onto the Pokemon's back. She wanted Bruce to teach her .

Feraligater started swimming up and down the river slowly and showed her a basic doggy paddle hoping she caught on. Bruce was smiling and thought, "Pokemon are really smart."

Sakura tries it but starts drowning because she is too weak to do much swimming wise.
