One met the dark with learning. But in the end, learned his knowledge was wanting. The world began without knowledge, and without knowledge will it end. Dost not this ring clear and true? Fear not, the dark, my friend. And let the feast begin.x__________________________________________________________________________________ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ: Nameless Song for Nameless Beings
Indeed, she was humble as well if she thanked him for his company. He didn't even provide proper company with a masked existence and not even proper hands to hold hers. He couldn't help himself but talk when she mentioned him being brave for taking all those souls head first, but in such a faint way that it was merely a whisper "Brave? No. Foolish? Yes." He hoped she didn't really hear that because the filter in his brain just did not work at that very moment and he let the instinct of this suffering just take him and speak out loud. Of course, he did not just ask her for forgiveness because to him this was the truth. He could now regenerate far beyond the concept of humankind and his damnation was immortality in this burnt body, if it could even be called a body. If she even asked him to take off the mask it would be either the end of this chatter or he could just transform himself to someone because his original form was all but graceful. She said something that caught his most genuine interest when she ended her part. The race was growing weaker with time and generations? There was a theory behind this as well and it was almost as if his innermost scholar re-activated itself and he immediately turned around, put the glass cup of wine speedily atop the table and began searching her books once more only to take out the most untouched book of all within her collection: The Holy Bible. Not only was it untouched, but it was the oldest version The Latin Vulgate. He blew the dust off of it and made sure not to go too near her with such an item, for he did not know what it would do to her. He knew of her kind and studied them deeply enough to know that elders were not affected by crosses, but he did not know how the power of an entire Bible would affect her. He switched through pages swiftly and madly, while speaking to her.
Pain? No. That word is far too small to befit me. And again, milady, the honor is mine. I haven't had such good wine, conversation, and dance in a very long time.
Finally, he stopped. The scripture was John 8:7 or written in Latin as Iohannes. and his finger scanned through it now slower and more detailed like, while walking around the room. This was his inner scholar joy of something he could be encountering with his conversation with her. This was the peak of his genuine interest in her, if she would say more detail, he would most likely become mad. The eyes behind the mask ravaged the book word by word until his finger stopped at the end of a sentence and the room grew rather quiet. Then he finally spoke the scripture out loud.
Qui sine peccato est vestrum primus in illam lapidem mittat. Et unus homo, lapis, et projecerunt cadaver in hac terra cui maledixit Christo vivere in aeternum et ad vescendum carnes off hominis. Vos autem deficiunt et in dies, non quia voluptas" What that translates to, milady, is "Let he who is without sin throw the first rock. And one man threw the rock and was cursed by Christ to live on this earth forever and feed off the flesh of man. You will grow weaker and weaker every day and know no pleasure." From Iohannes 8:7 or John 8:7 as spoken in the common tongue. That is also one of the theories that he was indeed the first vampire, not Dracula as all those far-fetched stories go. Your lineage growing weaker ties to this curse instead of the theory of the Old One's poison. Intriguing! I need to research this further. If it wasn't for that small phrase you just spoke, I would've never tied it down to this instance. I must re-make a theory. I always thought that generations of vampires grew stronger. in both speed and strength. There is more depth even here as to how Lycans came to existence, but that singles out demons as the one mystery of our existence after the first of our kind according to this ancient Scripture: Lucifer. What more can you tell me, milady? Of course, that you feel of freedom to share with one such as I.
Such a breathtaking discovery in one night. His face stuck to the Scripture while he talked about the coming of a new theory and thought of all the loopholes in it as well as the ones about the Old One. His face could not look away from the Bible as he kept on walking around the room what seemed like circles. His feet could not stop and his interest was piqued. This was a fruitful night.

Whereabouts:: Vampire Covenant ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ Surrounded By:: Self -- Mr. Locust___________________________________________________________Simple words that were spoken out of his mouth were not missed by her sensitive hearing but she will not ask further about it since it was more likely than not for his mind that he spoke out loud. She was however taken aback when he suddenly started to look for a book around in the study. Well she couldn’t blame him since there was almost every collection of every book that has come into existence and now he was using it to his full advantage. It was rather intriguing how his reaction was to go searching for a book in the study with one statement that she had mentioned. She slowly followed behind him while taking a sip of her wine before setting it back in place on the side table. Crossing her arms over her chest she observed him as he looked through the pages of…was that the bible? Very interesting indeed.
A chuckle escaped her lips as she thought of the considerate note that he might have thought she did not know what the words he spoke were translated to. Very thoughtful and modest her guest was. She had gotten someone to translate what it said to her many, many years ago to see where their generation went wrong but from what she found out was that it was right on schedule for them to become weakened, but she always thought it would be emotionally empty. What she never thought or put two and two together about why she was the most one of the elders that lacked physical strength but gained what she lost in other ways. For one, she is the fastest when it came to dodging and she was the best at countering physical attacks to use their strength against themselves.
Being curious as to what else he might be looking for in the book she used just a touch of her speed to catch up to him and of course with her short stature of five foot and two inches tall, she was unable to see over his shoulder, but she did try to look around him to see. Seeing that she was still unable to really see because he continued to pace the room she decided to go ahead and sit down back in her chair to answer any more questions he might have for her. Slowing walking back to her seat she straightened out her dress before sitting down and taking her wine glass into her hands. ”Well there are many things that they do not have in the book on how we have to cope with things. Not only am I the weakest but I have the smallest fangs as well, but I think that is to do with the fact that we are adapting to the environment. What I don’t have in strength I make up for in my ability to counter and dodge attacks from my enemies.” She took a small sip of her wine before bringing it back down to the level of her lap with both of her hands on the glass. ”Another thing about us is that we can actually eat real food but it doesn’t have a taste to us. For example, it would be like a carnivore eating grass, but we can do it to fit into society if need be. There are many of us that can survive in the sun and some of us are able to go in the sun but it depletes our energy to a dangerous level if we are to stay in it for too long. If we are in a building or protective screen we can tolerate it for much longer. Is there anything else you might be curious about?” With the ending of her explanation she decided to continue watching him pace around the room and waited for him to take all of the information she gave him to see if there was anything else that he was fascinated with.

Switching between pages swiftly once more and somewhat in a violent manner, but still caring for the book, he kept on looking for the links in here. Anything he could find about both vampires and lycans. He stopped his pacing around the room and stopped on one line, then proceeded to walk swiftly to the nearest table and place the Bible down and took out a pen and note paper from his right pocket. He made notes vigorously. He left the book over the table to swiftly search more and stop once more to take notes. His writing seemed to be madder and turn to that of a madman when he lay the note paper down on this same table and to the side of the Bible and continued. The notes read:
They sacrificed to demons that were no gods to gods that they had never known to new gods that came who their fathers never dreaded. The godly has perished from the earth and there is no one upright among mankind; They all lie in wait for blood... Those who's teeth are swords , whose fangs are knives to devour the poor off the earth and the needy from mankind. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve.
Deuteronomy 32:17, Micah 7:2, Proverbs 30:14, Revelation 16:6 in chronological order.
He goes on raging for another book that would probably be in her collection. After all, who wouldn't have this classic masterpiece in their possession? Yes, it was The Divine Comedy. A book that had long been something that shaped the myth of the demon world and had small clues to what other creatures. Again, he pulled it out and immediately proceeded to scroll through the pages with intensity and concentration. There were more things here that the eye could see. He was not appeased by anything he looked through it at all when in a few moments he would close it down, find its' place among the other books and place it back. He scratched the back of his head really quick and took a deep breath as he continued on. The He would get on top of the rolling ladder for the top bookshelf and pick out another one named: Mysteries of Ancient Greece. Then he continued his vigorous scrolling through only to stop once more and speak once more.
Interesting indeed. In ancient Greece it was common for people to have Necrophobia. Such was the case that all the dead would be pinned down with a large stone slab for fear of them coming out at night and harming the living. The belief grew so much, that later on just to make sure, they would only bury them during daytime and stick a wooden stake through where their heart should be. Sound familiar? It seems since the very beginning although unmentioned by the Bible, there's always been a weakness to sunlight. The pleasure in food ties directly to the first curse who threw the rock, but sunlight is different. It seems that during those times, the first hunter was born. I believe the adaptation vampire-kind are taking is only natural in the evolutionary chain. Oh, and please read my notes. Those go in somewhat chronological order as well.
His right hand rested upon his chin, while holding the book open still looking at it and reading it while talking. He finally wasn't moving, but he was dumbfounded by new links in his discoveries. Now the only thing he had to tie together is how Ancient Greece could directly affect the thoughts of ancient Jews and Christians altogether. This was the peak of his fascination and tonight was bearing a lot more fruit than he anticipated.

Whereabouts:: Vampire Covenant ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ Surrounded By:: Self -- Mr. Locust___________________________________________________________Her guest surely was an interesting one to watch. If he wasn’t searching for a particular book that would more than likely be in her study, he would be pacing around reading the material and brought out a pen and notebook from his pocket? Well you couldn’t say one is never too prepared to jot things down when need be. Seeing that he left his notes and the bible on the table she decided to get up to see what was written and to look up some verses herself that were particularly aimed towards demons as a whole. Slowly she walked to the table and ready what was in the notes before turning her attention to the bible itself. Slowing turning the pages she came upon the scripture that she has always pondered over since hearing about many demons residing in her very mysterious guest. ” Tunc vadit, et assumit septem alios spiritus secum nequiores se et intrantes habitant ibi et fiunt novissima hominis illius pejora prioribus. Sic erit et generationi huic pessimæ erunt.” She ran her fingers across the words as she spoke it before crossing her arms over her chest and looked up to the ceiling. ” Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Is what that is translated to.” Turning her head to the masked stranger she placed her right hand on the table for balance while leaning her right hip against it.
”Would that be a part of what might have made you what you are today? Back in those days of history you would be considered as the one called himself ‘Legion’ because of all of the demons that have resided in his soul. Are you able to think for yourself clearly or do they come up to see about how you take action, like now for instance, would it be your personal curiosity or would it be the souls that reside in you that make you wonder ever so much about the history of what I speak?” The subject did peak her interest so why not ask a demon while she had a demon as her guest for the time being? There was no harm in asking, right? Besides, if one does not ask then they may never know if they were willing to tell them the facts or not. She started to slowly walk around the room seeing that he was done pacing and she was able to walk wherever she was willing to go. Her fingers on her right hand glided over the top of the table until it reached the end and proceeded to walk along her book case.
She looked at the books spines to see the titles of them all and came across another loved book in her collection and grinned before passing over it to move on to the next column. ”It is amazing what humans will do when they fear something or someone. What lengths they will take to assure their safety and the cruelty they place upon others just to make sure they are happy with the results. Yes, I have been through those times before and it can drive some mad to know how far we have adapted just to try and fit in just to avoid being tortured and killed in such a manner. I do however understand why they would go to such lengths but to do it to anyone they suspected was anything other than human even elderly that were just sick or just children singing a tune they heard from others, disheartens me even if I were to have a beating heart it pained and still pains me so to remember all of the awful things humans will do just to prove they were right when they were wrong about most they murdered. They would cover up and make things up just to make sure in the eyes of their believers that they were right even though they were completely wrong.” She held no emotion in her tone as she spoke but memories rushed through her head as she walked along the book case until she came to the globe in the corner of the room. Spinning the globe she watched as it spun while deep her thoughts of how the way things used to be.

The masked man stopped and closed his book. It was strange. Right now, there was someone asking the right questions. That was true. He had heard of the legend of the one called "Legion". The stories were outrageous though that he could lift 100 times what any man could and crush a man's skull with his bare hands. Although they were not too far-fetched considering his own skill set and the fact that he could potentially shape shift into anyone he wanted. He preferred his own form at all costs just to not be dishonest, especially within someone who offered him free passage. It was truly mind boggling. He kept his right hand under his chin and his left tucked underneath it sort of to support it and gave a deathly stare towards her. She was right. Most of his thoughts were 50% is own, and the rest were the souls that dwell within him. Even now, he could feel them calling out. What she said, although short, was enough to stop him in his tracks and make him think about himself. This wasn't something he could just speak back from so easily. Twas like he went bonkers for a short second when he finally spoke back.
"In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently, vicious, and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose." That was one of my speeches when I burned down the capitol house of the esteemed governor who was corrupt at that time when I first became the one who stands before you. No, it was not my own speech. It was not my own thoughts. And even now I question whether I am in control of what I speak.
The shock was so great that it would stop him from moving overall. He was now much like a statue staring into her eyes and stuck in the same position for what would seem like an eternity for him. He was lost in thought. No. He was lost in other souls' thoughts. Why was this so difficult for him to process? Everything else she spoke fell on deaf ears after she asked him that question. Actually, no. Other ears listened, and other ears thought as well. The real question was, who? Could he even point it out anymore. The madness embraced him, but it was not his own. It was much more than that. Whatever it was, even he could not understand it. There was no curse in this world or the next that could simply stop the thirst for knowledge, except now. Now he had to pinpoint whether or not his thirst for knowledge was his own. Even if he did, was it really himself? How vexing. He was asked one of the first questions he didn't even have a clue on how to answer or search for the answer. Time slowed down. It slowed down so much that the book he had on his left hand fell down to the ground and once it did the minimal bounce off the ground, it thundered through his mind and within the room. Even as he opened his mouth once more, he questioned whether it was his own words or not.
Answering your question is like searching for darkness with a torch in hand. Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask. I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a man of many whos, who he is. Let me answer your question, by asking you a question back. Why is a raven like a writing-desk?

Whereabouts:: Vampire Covenant ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ Surrounded By:: Self -- Mr. Locust___________________________________________________________With the silence that fell upon the room she assumed that it must be that her guest is pondering her question that she gave him. Honestly she wasn’t expecting an explanation of what might be going on in his head but she did want to know if all of the thoughts would be his and if he was able to shut them out or not. A feeling came upon her that she was being stared at, the feeling of the stare didn’t feel menacing, so she wasn’t in danger. Looking over her shoulder she could see that he was keenly looking at her as if he was pondering what to say about her question or might be trying to find out exactly why she asked the questions she did. The only way to see which her guest was leaning towards is to see a facial expression. But due to him having a mask over his face, she was unable to read an expression and so she would just have to go on how she felt now.
She listened closely to what the masked stranger was telling her and while he was saying his speech, she stopped the globe from spinning any further with her right index finger before moving on to the book cases beside it. With his explanation of what he knew at the time of when he burned down a capitol, from her understanding he was not in control of what he was saying, and the words just flowed from him as if it was his speech. So, if what he is saying is that he sometimes does not have control of what he says, does that mean he sometimes does not have control of what he does as well? That would be another question to ask at another time since this one had him stuck on how to answer her for some time. Her finger gently slid from each book as if she was looking for a book that might give her more insight on her guest. But coming up empty handed she reverted to just walking around the room as he explained how difficult it would be to answer her question any further. But he asked her a question as well. That got her attention and she looked back to the man with wonder. She had heard of this riddle before and wondered why there was such a commotion over it for years down the line.
Winter turned away from the stranger and started to walk back to the window. Pondering the riddle, she just needed to know exactly how it was told. If she were to say any word out of place it would twist the answer up and be even more confusing than the riddle itself. A thought came to her mind as she remembered how it was put together. The slightest grin appeared on her face and before she spoke she looked out the window to the moon ”Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front. That is why the raven is like a writing-desk. I learned of this when the commotion over it was still a popular topic, and some still do not know this to this day. Did you know the answer?” It did take her a moment years ago to figure it out but none the less she did have an answer for him. She continued to look out of the window instead of turning back to her guest for clarification since she was unable to see his face she did not need it, she would just depend on her other senses.
OOC: I can see that, well done.

In a moment of solitude. A moment of vast silence and somewhat remorse, he recognized the fact that he had asked a question rather unfashionable in this time. It was quite an early riddle, but guess what? There was something yet under his surprise that she did not know of. The masked man removed his right hand from under his chin and his left as support to a downwards position and then extended them outwards outrageously while speaking loudly.
I had no idea that was the answer! Remarkable. That had bothered me for years."
Then his hands went back down to his sides just watching her look out the window once more. It was a sad sight for him. Honestly, even though he did it at first it was because he was lost in thought thinking of a morose moment in his life that would scar any man permanently. Truly, he was more than a man who was scarred. Even more so, he was a man far beyond the scope of madness and knowledge as well. Had he finally lost it? No, he was about to unveil another one of his many sides and his many souls. Thus he picked up his glass once more in a much more different manner than all the last ones. He was grasping it around the actual filling area with all his fingers signaling thirst to people who were educated in drinking mannerisms. What was his final act though? One that would bring about the change of the world? Perhaps. For sure, she was the start. For his ideals would be forever embedded upon her, whether she like it or not. This his slow walk towards her side started and he stopped right at one foot away from her, while also looking up at the moon outside of the window.
Beneath this mask lies more than flesh. Beneath this mask lies beliefs, ideas, knowledge, and hope. These things cannot be killed, you see? I am but cinder. I refuse to become ash or flame, yet I am still here. Oh how many times I have lived and died among all these. Truly a nightmare is it not? I am caught in this never-ending, terrifying dream. I am an echo of an idea that has long stood in society for freedom, justice, and action. Yet... I have become a villain. Obsolete as some might say. Have I gone mad? There is a story about a man who achieved true enlightenment by searching for his purpose, but the enlightenment was actually a monster that embedded into his head and blinded him to his purpose, thus dying by the sword of his most caring friend. Is that me? Who do you think I am? What do you think I am?
A madman asking questions of a sane person right in this very person. Perhaps not sane, but truly emotional. It was always doubted whether those who were mentally ill were also capable of emotional attachment and here he was... revealing everything to her. It was all in his own way. No, she had not yet seen the true scope of either his abilities or the shard of a man that remained behind the mask, but he knew she could picture it. She finally broke him. His lust for knowledge was led amiss and he had left that book stranded among the floor without purpose or scope and he had forgotten about it. Irony. Oh yes, such sweet irony in the fact that his beliefs were much like that book. There were on the ground, open for everyone to read and yet they were all fossils. These echoes of the past were just forlorn ideas never meant to be obtained by a feeble mind. The whole purpose behind his fight would seem something minute for someone who only sought the blind belief of "justice". To anyone, he was a madman capable of murder, vengeance, larceny, and countless other actions that were all in the name of, what would seem to a so-called normal person, a warped version of justice.
He shut down completely and even his mask turned to only look at the ground for a moment. This was an action showing how he was beneath the mask. He's just a man. A cursed one. Undeath was a curse that she knew very well, but she did not know the curse of dying thousands of times and still being here. These ideas were far beyond the scope of any living being and they were not to be taken lightly. What an unholy nightmare to walk among the living as one who deserves this such release. His fingers started loosening grip of the cup and it would fall to the ground soon if she would not notice. She probably wouldn't. It was on the other of himself where she wasn't even next to. Ah, such sweet release to be able to finally think about this curse. Was it truly a release or the embrace if the abyss? Oh yes, he was one embraced by the abyss and he was enlightened by it, but ne'er a grub.
