He had the sudden vision of all of them -- minus Pearl of course -- with fur gone gray and mouths puckered as they attempted to up one each other with failing parlor tricks or stories that were forgotten half way through. The thought was rather hilarious, if a trite humbling, and he chuckled as much as it as he did at Drake's own idea of how old age would be. They would be a rowdy lot, he knew. There was nothing that could take the fight out of the Barbossa-Swanns, not even time. "E'en old, we'd 'ave plenty o' tricks," Samuel chimed in.

If he had been a peacock, his tail would have risen and fanned out enough to hide the sun. He had confidence, did not fall prey to ego, but a compliment like that from his brother made him proud. He did not often gamble but when he did, he had proven rather adept at it. Perhaps because unlike a lot of folks, he knew to quit when he was ahead. Still there was a spring in his step as he replied, "If ye be needin' a second paw a' th' table, look no further!"

"Aye," he drawled in response. "Hell hath no fury like a band o' aged pirates. The Oasis won't know what t' do with us all!"

Drake twirled the stick in his paw as they continued along the path. The two of them were making decent time.
As he discarded the prop, he grinned enthusiastically at Sam's response. "I'll have t' take you up on that offer, mate. Imagine it, a couple o' schemin' brothers like us, toyin' with the hands o' chance. It'll be brilliant!" The older otter was a rather decent gambler himself. Although there were times where he could get carried away, especially if alcohol was the thing fueling his confidence. ...Considering the last time he'd played strip-poker, he'd wound up in nothing but his under-breeches.
But that was a different matter entirely. Or at least, that's what he convinced himself.

Momentarily, he found himself wondering if, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" and "like a band o' aged pirates" what dreadful thing might befall someone who scorned an aged pirate woman. He made a mental note to never find out. It wouldn't hurt to make sure to amass a few more pretty trinkets for his mother and sisters, either. Or maybe stockpile a whole chest full of jewels to use if such an awful predicament ever befell him.

Samuel gave his head a shake, dislodging that whole horror, while turning his attention back to his brother. "A brothers' night out, o' sorts," he agreed. He could already see the two of them running the table and emptying pockets: left, right, and center.
