Background:
Raylene, often called simply Ray, is the daughter of a former hunter, Jamie Tanaka. Ray was raised around the stories of her mother's adventures, just ignorant of the fact they were all true. Ray never knew her father. And her mother never talked about him. When ever Ray asked about him her mother would always say the same line; "James ruined my life. He may of gave me you, but it what he did before you that still is killing me." But each time her mother would say those words, her curiosity about her father grew. What could he possible do to drive her mother into such a hatred for him? One unexpected day though, her questions would be answered. Sadly in a terrible way.
Ray and her mother where at a conservation center in Dakota and as they were walking though the paths alone her mother collapsed. Ray locked eyes with Jamie and she smiled at her daughter and said one thing. "Your father made me quit." Then after that she grew still. Raylene didn't know what the hell just happened to her mother so she just ran. Not toward the civilization, but deeper into the conservation area. Ray was just scared. After a while of running, Ray tripped on an exposed root, fell down a hill though a heavily wooded area, and broke her leg. For what seemed like hours, Ray laid on the edge of wood and a flowered meadow, until she saw wolves and she froze in fear. The wolves gathered around her. There was three full grown ones and two pups. A few of the full gown ones nuzzled her, Ray thought that they where going to kill her and feed her tho their pups, but then Ray saw a girl peer over the wolves and they all moved. The girl, who she later fond out her name was Trisha, was hunting for a group of girls and a few guys. She often compared Ray to a lost lamb, injured and terrified. Trisha brought her back to her group and to their healers for her leg. She talked to Trisha for a while. Trisha asked who she got out there, and she told her what happened and once she got to her mother's last words Trisha asked for the name of her mother. Once she said so she ran off and came back with another girl who was said to of been the second in command. The second in command told her that her mother was kicked out of this group. Then her mother's stories came back to her. The girl in the stories was kicked out of a group led by a goddess because of a man that she fell in love with and then left her. Then it clicked. Ray's mother worked with Artemis and Ray came right back to them. At first Ray wanted to leave to go and live with her father, but then she remembered that her father left her mother and was in jail. She had no one to turn to. Trisha offered for her to stay with them, and she accepted.
