Waru barely showed any hint of surprise or startlement when the three figures appeared above ground. Centuries of being a warrior had taught him to hide anything that might be seen as a weakness. For the time being, they didn't notice the pair so he stayed quiet, shooting a quick glance at Lyra.
Her wings were gone, however she hid them, and her entire frame was soaked through, clothes clinging to alluring curves and planes while her hair acted as a sodden curtain, nearly hiding her eyes. He watched as she impatiently pushed the hair from her line of vision, gaze fixed on the three men. Instinctively he moved closer to her, boots grinding in the wet sand. If anything happened, he would protect her. It wasn't as if he could really die.
" What do you think?" He whispered. His piercings glinted, along with his blue contacts, giving him a supernatural appearance.
"Let's just watch for now. That's definately Tank...or Theonidas...whatever Nolah said he calls himself now. He's the grim reaper, whatever his name." At these words, Waru felt a grim curiosity. He'd heard so many tales of the angel's 'works'.
His eyes flared wide when the Scyth burst into blood-red flames. The rain didn't seem to matter as he brought it down, nearly cleaving the...what was it? Twin? In half.
"Kami-san, did-"
"Yeah..." They stood side by side, still watching the remaining pair.

" What the hell is going on?" Nolah growled frustratedly. It was as though everything was hitting her at once. People were turning against each other, doing things out of character. She felt as though she were going to implode. Angrily, she got up from her chair on shaky legs and without a word to the others she dragged the armchair over to a corner and turned it to face the walls before crawling back in and curling up.
She felt physically and emotionally ill. A tremor passed through her body when she realized Amadeus was gone. She felt it keenly, not that she had been fond of the angel...it was just her natural reaction. Everyone could run off guns blazing for all she cared. She just wanted to be in the dark...she wasn't going anywhere.

She watched the events unfold, her stare unchanging as she watched fate working it's course. Then, the elf turned on her, and struck her down.
As Shi fell to the floor, she shattered, her pieces melting away into a silvery mist, before reforming to Shi, standing headstrong as ever. "Nice shot, little one." She nodded her head slightly, and continued. "Please, excuse me.."
With that, she swept over to Nolah in the corner. Touching her lightly on the shoulder, her face filled with heart-felt concern, as well as her voice, as she asked the cat-woman, "Nolah..? Are you alright, love?"

Theonidas didn't answer for what seemed like a very long time. The sound of the rain became increasingly noisy in the wake of the silence, and then, finally, the Reaper sighed. He ran a hand through his soaked hair, successfully slicking it back. After a few more seconds under the torrent, it creeped it's way back into his eyes, sticking up in all different directions to any almost comical extent. The tip of the scythe's blade was still on fire, the flame flickering about, undaunted by the storm, like it would if it were on the wick of a candle.
Theonidas stared at it, and then turned to Athos as if realizing the man was there for the first time. He blew the fire on the blade out, snuffing it to death like it was used birthday candle. That little display done with, he straightened, facing Athos and titling his chin up. His companion seemed a bit confused, unsure of what to think. Had Amadeus truly been killed? If not, where was he?
Well. That was for Theonidas to know and for no one to find out until the time was right. And Theonidas would be the one who would decide when that time was. If Amadeus was dead, if he wasn't...everyone was in the dark now, and that's the way Theonidas wanted it. He knew that Athos would question him sooner or later, and then maybe more would be revealed...until then...
Athos questioned him about Shi, and he raised his eyebrows, his shoulders jumping in a nonchalant shrug. He gestured vaguely with one hand. "What should I think of her, Athos? She's never proved herself unworthy before...though I do find it odd that she didn't report my whereabouts back to Crossed Swords...why she waited so long. Right now, her motives are unclear. I'm not sure which side she's planning on playing for. I believe we should treat her with the same caution as we treat Christophe. Either one of them could find weakness in us. They both have friends on the other team."
His eyes flashed. "And we don't like people jump back and forth, do we Athos...Traitors deserve no trust. And eventually, they deserve proper punishment. But for right now, we wait. Why? What are your thoughts on Shi? Offended that she found me before you did?"

If nothing else, it seemed that Theonidas had a few things to mull over before he answered any of Athos' questions. It was a bit disconcerting. He seemed almost... unsure of what to say, and was filling the time between question and answer with a sort of silence that spoke of uncertainty.
But, as was the nature of time, the moment passed and Theonidas looked up at his partner, chin in the air, apparently ready to speak. But first, he gave a bit of a shrug then mentioned Shi's loyalty thusfar. He seemed to be wary about her as well... How she didn't contact the Crossed Swords, and the fact she'd indeed known much about it. When Theonidas mentioned them being cautious, Athos nodded his agreement, his own hair falling wetly into his face. He casually brushed it aside and took a deep breath through his nose, which he let out in a small sigh, as if gathering his thoughts.
"No, Theonidas, we don't like people who jump from side to side. It calls their loyalty into question, among other things." His hands, which were currently still clasped behind his back tensed and his shoulders bunched up slightly; the man was getting angry. "Shi's playing at something on her own agenda." He said curtly, the air gaining a physical chill as he spoke. His eye gave an ever so small twitch when the Reaper mentioned the fact that Shi had found him before Athos. Was he offended? Of course. Was he going to admit it? Not until the other six layers of hell were too covered in ice.
"She found you and made no mention to anyone about it, nor took action of which we both know she was capable. How long, Theonidas, did she wait to awaken you?" He cocked an eyebrow, his lips pursed into a thin line on his face. "This Tank they speak of had friends... Friends I assume fought for your safety, at least to a point. Otherwise Forte would have had them taken care of. And Shi, at least at first, did nothing to stop them. They might not have known, but they were trying to stop your transformation, to save Tank." He nearly spat the last word out, the usual calm in his voice being lost for a split second.
Athos stopped himself and glanced over his shoulder, in the general direction that the two trapped outside were watching. It was only then that he'd sensed them... And for that he inwardly kicked himself. He'd let himself forget there were still two beings outside. But, that was now noted, and he turned his attention back onto the Reaper.
"You've been gone a long time, Theonidas. And Shi hasn't been seen for almost as long. She left no mention of where she was going, and in her absence, quite a lot changed. Did you know that the ones responsible for our birth are dead?" Athos let his hands fall to his side and he walked toward the fallen angel, his voice dropping to a chill whisper. "Our leader had different plans for you when you returned. He'd grown soft. Needless to say he was taken care of, but that shifted everything. I'm second from the top now, in YOUR place, Theonidas, because you were gone. Shi had plenty of time to alert us to your presence. Everything we've worked for is falling apart," He paused, his teeth aching from how tightly his jaw was closed. "And I have been searching you out in order to remedy that." he said through clenchted teeth.
Again, the pale man paused, sweeping his hand through his hair in an almost aggrivated way, then letting his arm fall to his side. Athos' words found their normal tone and lack of emotion when he spoke again. "We are going to keep an eye on her. I will NOT allow any sabotage against the Swords. If that happens, your cause will be lost. OUR cause will be taken from us. Do you understand that?" Oh, no. There was no way Athos was going to let this slip from his grasp. It had been too long a journey, too much thought and planning and work on his part to let something unexpected and unmanagable happen. "We should go inside. Our eavesdroppers might have heard something they shouldn't have." His tone said that he wouldn't even have to mention retribution about that, should he find out they did indeed hear.
The man planned on taking care of them soon either way.

Elure still held the gun in front of him, but Christophe could sense that Elure didn't really want to use it, and was unsure what to do with it in the first place. He felt a slight spazm, and dropped to the floor. The clouds around his eyes made his assume Amadeus was gone.
"I don't want to die," he murmured, rising from the floor. He looked straight at Elure and Rien. "And I know you don't either. So I suggest you stop pretending this is a black and white issue where there are certain 'sides'." His voice dripped with sarcasm, and he looked to where Nolah had curled up into a chair.
"I may not know what side I ought to be on, but I've pledged my allegiance." He picked up Nolah from the chair, giving Shi a smile for her concern. "Is there another way out of here so I can get her back to the inn and find her some real clothes, warm food, and a soft bed?"

"Hm...?" Nolah glanced up into Shi's concerned eyes. Her mouth opened to form the obligatory 'I'm fine' like always but for some reason it wouldn't come out. She shook her head, feeling tears p***k the corners of her eyes. God damnit, I'm acting like a weakling. She cursed inwardly.
It only seemed like seconds later however that Christophe was lifting her from the chair and cradling her against his chest. She could feel the deep hum of his voice through the material of his clothes and sighed, feeling instantly safe.
"That's sounds nice." She murmured. " Except for food. I don't think I can eat anything..."

Waru felt the danger and dismissiveness in the man's gaze sharply. Anger flared within him but he swallowed it back, turning to Lyra. " Let's go back to the Inn and wait it out. There isn't anything we can do here."
" Who are the swords?" She asked softly as they turned and headed back. Waru shrugged.
" I have no idea, but we're obviously not supposed to know." And with that, they disappeared into the streets of Dark Haven, determined to have a hot shower and find some dry clothes.

Theonidas's eyes slid to one side, watching Waru and Lyra make haste into the night. He let Athos's words absorb into his mind, nodding shallowly. "Dear Leader is dead, huh. Well, I have no doubts that he deserved it. I'm assuming you are the one that served him that platter, my friend." Athos was a well-known, skilled, and swift killer. He did his work without any real emotion, which made him very dangerous. One moment he could be chatting with your over coffee, the next, he could be putting a hole in your skull. Theonidas knew that Athos was potentially both a dangerous ally, and a dangerous foe, but he had no reason to fear the man.
The people who had raised Theonidas, Amadeus, Athos, and many of the other members of the Swords had once been a covert group that did all it's business in the shadow of night and confusion. They were brilliant minds, all geared toward creation, designation, and eventually, an iron first over the world. They weren't your stereotypical "try to take over the world" people though. They were trying to make the world better, to build it in their own image.
They'd created Crossed Swords as a matter of both protection and offense. Crossed Swords would destroy the world, and then rebuild it. Now with the original creators dead, there was an intense need to reorganize. Theonidas had to venture the guess that Athos had been self-elected to find him so that they could get the rehabilitation underway. Theonidas paused to wonder how things were going back at the Swords' compound. If Christophe had escaped, how many others had? How wary should the old Grim Reaper be of people jumping out of the bushed to put an end to his life?
Somewhere, from a distance, came the long, sad howl of a wolf, and Theonidas's eyes narrowed. People were everywhere not. Werewolves were prowling the night, other night dwellers were hidden in pockets of darkness, and the cold was pressing in from every angle. Suddenly, Theonidas became very aware that he and his companion were far from being alone.
"All walls have ears, Athos," he said in a very low voice, almost inaudible over the rain. "It's time we had sense enough to come in out of the rain." He teleported, taking Athos with him and reappeared in the loft he'd occupied above the Tavern.
Upon reappearing, he staggered, winded by the energy it took to move himself and people through time and space like that. He steadied himself against the wall, releasing a breath. He looked at Athos, who was dripping puddles onto the wooden floor. Dry clothing, maybe something eat would be a bonus in his situation, but Theonidas was dizzy and lightheaded from his recent strain and only said, "I believe the best course of action would be to eliminate the potential threat that rests here in Dark Haven, and the return home."

"Don't you snarl at me in that tone," snapped Elure. "I'm doing all I can to save my little sister from being put under spells, killed by her ex-friend and betrayed by others," he shouted, looking at Christophe in a pointful way.
"I can look after myself," retorted Rien. "And what the hell happened to my hands?!"
"You obviously can't look after yourself, I mean look at where we are!"
"Well you can't look after me either, can you? And all I'm doing is trying to get us out of here too!" So the bickering continued as it always had done. In the end, Rien just ignored her brother and started looking for a way out. The well was too high up, so she turned back to the two men, who were now scowling at one another. "Well? Any ideas?"

" EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP!" Nolah shouted before stopping. It had been a thought, not meant to slip through her lips. Sighing, she disentangled herself from Christophe's arms, unsteady when her feet touched the ground. " No one is happy about this alright, not even Shi because she isn't sure where she stands anymore and now that Amadeus is dead, Athos and Theonidas are probably off planning something. They aren't here anymore. Shi never betrayed me, and she hasn't given me a reason not to trust her. She's still a friend to me, just like you Rien and I assume Elure though I don't know you well. I don't know where Christophe stands on all of this. This is really important to him and I'm tired of being a gods be damned burden. You four can stay here and discuss whatever you want but I'm leaving if I have to climb my way out of here...."
She took a deep breath after her tirade, feeling like a stupid, petulant child. She went over to where she had left Tanks boots and tied the laces together before slinging them over her shoulders. She swallowed a wince as the strings cut into tender flesh flesh, and just to prove a point, went to the well entrance. She wasn't sure if she could support her weight for long but she was determined. With her years or experience and training she found the cracks and indents easily. Although it was painful, she hoisted herself up, fingers feeling for holds of any kind.

After a good ten minutes, Nolah had managed to make it to the top. With an exhausted sigh she threw herself down onto the sand, not caring when it stuck to her and that within seconds she was soaked. Panting, she slipped her feet into Tank's shoes, wincing as the blisters brushed the interior. After a moment of recovery, she stood and began the trek back to the inn. She wanted to curl up in her bed and sleep forever.

"Well maybe the fact she put Elure and myself under a spell is a good pointer as to her untrustworthiness," shouted Rien after Nolah, as she ascended. She turned back. "I was ready to trust Shi before she put us under that spell. And anyway, how does Nolah know Amadeus is dead? We saw them vanish... we don't know what happened up there!"
With that, she followed Nolah with the struggle to get out.
"Come on Christophe," said Elure, offering his hand in a truce. He then followed his sister energetically.

Christophe watched as Nolah shook herself off from him. She delivered an impassioned speech that shut up Rien and Elure's arguement, but was stunned when she called herself a burden. When she left and started for the well, he winced as he saw how she refused to show the pain she had to be feeling.
Elure offered his hand, and Christophe nodded, and pointed for Elure to leave the tunnel first. He didn't take it, not because he didn't trust Elure, but because he didn't want to make an alliance that he someday had to break. "I'm a man of my word Elure, and I don't want to shake your hand if it means I may have to someday have your blood on mine."
He looked to the floor. "It's happened before, and I don't like shaking hands."
