Wishing for a fragile peace. Na'ni, Alpha Female of the Navi Pack Na'ni was just barely drifting into the recesses of peaceful sleep when she was rudely interrupted. She cracked her blue eyes open in a glare and stared up at the wolf who had woken her. As the she-wolf reported that there was howling coming in the direction of the Dakotas though, the Alpha Female rose fluidly to her feet. She trotted quickly out of the den, ignoring the protests of any wolves she accidently stepped on.
She paced up to the top of the bank her den is dug into, her paws digging into the soft earth. She stood straight-legged at the edge, her ears cocked towards pack of her cousins. They were singing a lamentation of death. It seemed that brute that had tried to raid their kill some days ago finally passed on. Na'ni herself had taken the disgusting task of routing the male. She had known the wounds she inflicted on him would kill him, but she was surprised that he had lasted this long. The Dakotas must have found a good healer some where. Though she wanted peace more than anything with her cousins, she knew it was duty to let them know that this was her victory. If she didn't Wraith would simply do something cunning and her pack would suffer without the hope of having won something. Most of all, she needed to keep her pack's moral up.
Tossing her head back Na'ni let a deep howl rise from her chest. The few wolves of her pack up in the dawning day stop what they are doing and look up at her. She held the howl for a long time, knowing the opposing pack would be able to hear her victorious howl. And they would know that it was she who had killed their pack mate. She shuddered away from the thought of being proud of killing a fellow wolf, but it was necessary in this cruel blood fued. When her howl finally died away she glanced down at the wolves below her, giving a sharp bark. As one the pack raised their heads and howled again, this time the howl one of mourning and loss to guide the soul the running pack in the sky so that he could peacefully move on. When the lamenting cry was finished Na'ni laid down, stretching her head on her paws with a sad sigh.

Hatred so deep, I can barely breath. Wraith, Alpha Male of the Dakota Pack Wraith watched with cold eyes as the Epsilon Ice summoned his pack. Derisive laughter threated to burst from his throat as the pack howled for the soul to run free. What stupidity. The brute deserved what he got. He obviously wasn't strong enough to survive, and his sould didn't deserve to be mourned. The black alpha watched as Ice then proceeded to clean out her healing den. No doubt it had been tainted by the rotting body of the brute as he died.
They dry laughter escaped him as he saw the pack depart, leaving the body there. It seemed they didn't care as much as it appeared. Perhaps they understood that this dead brute was useless and didn't deserved the respect mourning him would bring. The big male stood up and paced slowly towards the body. He stared down at the tearing bite wounds covering the male. It was surprising he had even made it back to the den site yet lived so long. From the spacing of the teeth on the bites Wraith could tell that it was a big wolf, though not as big as he that attacked his wolf. A warrior of the other pack probably.
The cold male's ears twisted as another howl rose into the cool air of morning. That damned female leader of the other pack was sounding a howl of victory. Wraith turned and stared at the trees seperating him from her, his bared teeth gleaming brightly. Well, who would have thought that it was the pretty alphaess herself that had done the dirty work of tearing apart this brute. A small feeling of approval festered in Wraith's twisted heart as he listened to the fae announce her small victory over him. Maybe she wasn't such a bad opponent after all if she could gloat. That minor feeling is dashed away though as her pack followed her howl with one of mourning for the wolf.
What weak-brained fools. As their howls died away Wraith tossed his own head back and howled, his deep bass howl one of crazed rage and challenge to Na'ni. Calling to her to tell her to come fight him. As his deep howl faded Wraith cocked his head, listening. When it became apparant that the prissy b***h of the other pack wasn't going to answer the brute snorted in disgust and turned back to the body beside him. With a snarl he grabbed the dead wolf by the throat. With a toss of his head the big alpha male sent the limp body flying several feet to hit the ground heavily and roll out of the densite. It was still visable and on the edges, but it was at least out of his personal territory. Wraith turned away, grumbling darkly to himself.

healing all from within Ice the epsilon of the Dakota pack Ice shivered as she heard the howls of her alphas challenge and of the other pack, she hated this war. she hated the fact her alpha was always so angry and cold towards everyone and she really wasnt sure why at all. after she placed new bedding into her den she didnt really know what to do, she walked to wraith and licked his ear softly and then walked past him, she was trying to give him some comfort but she didnt want to get to close because she knew what he could do if he got angry with her. and yes the idea of it terrified her.
she walked slowley into the forest heading to the lake, she was very thirsty and pretty hungry, she figured she would try for a rabbit. problem was being a half blind wolf sometimes made things harder for her, she didnt want to seem weak so she ussualy did things on her own. she sighed shaking her head as she walked to the water and slowley began to lap it up.
