"Life is a game." Rednal replied calmly, blocking Aitourensa with his blade's guard before batting it away with the end of the hilt. "It's best to keep score, if only to know how much harder you have to work." he flipped his blade around so the main part of it was pointing 'out', as opposed to the usual 'in' of most sword styles, and shot forward, pressing his blade up against Charles'. The song in his mind grew somewhat more... solid... for lack of a better word.

(defined maybe?)
I jumped down again quietly. Seeing that indeed Kenji had started talking with someone, and I too wanted to know who he was talking to. I headed out of the academy grounds and towards Inuzuri, after all, where else could they be going except this way at the moment.

(I hope I understand you right and you merely turned the sharp edge towards yourself, rather than have it towards me. IF that is wrong, let me know and I will gladly change this post accordingly.)
Charles' mirth seems to ebb a bit, reacting to the cold demeanor of Redal. Still smiling, if a bit less, he jibes "Loosen up- try to have some fun." Of course, he didn't have time to wax on how stiff his opponent seems to act. With a flip of his wrist, Rednal reverses his grip on his blade and comes on again. Confused at that move, Charles knows better now than to relax.
Holding fast with both his and his opponent's blades locked again, Charles is not anxious to push. Sure he is trying to strike a blow, but not a lethal one. Trying a new tactic, he decides to go for a different target. While the focus is on their blades, Charles tries to mix it up by kicking out with his right leg, moving it off to the side and reversing it's movements to strike at the back of Rednal's left knee with his foot.
Awkward as the move was, hopefully it is something not prepared for . . .
EDIT: Changed to correct an err in understanding.

((Imagine the normal way you would hold a blade across your body; let's say right hand out, the sword going horizontal in front of you. Flip that blade 180 degrees so it is pointing to your right instead of your left. The sharp edge is still pointing towards you.))
With a simple movement, Rednal tilted the left side of his body downwards and caught Charles' leg before lifting off the ground and kicking out towards Charles' chest.
The blow would never hit. Not because of Charles' dodging capability or some lack of power on Rednal's side. Nope, Rednal cut the attack short and shot backwards again as the same vision flashed through his mind again. He was brilliant at staying calm and collected, not letting things distract him, but it was getting pretty hard to fight this way. He felt vaguely annoyed again.

Ugu walked through the eastern entrance of the academy, far away from any one who'd care to watch for training shinigami students. He continued to walk, ever so slowly, with his hulking mass toward his scheduled meeting. The man sighed, fully knowing that life would get tougher from here on.
