Dwarves in Norse mythology are greedy, evil vile things.
How so? They don't seem terribly pleasant but I've not gotten that impression of them in the lore.

Really? I can't remember where I saw it but iirc it stated Dwarves were cursed by the Gods and ate the dead. It COULD be I am thinking of another kind of creature from Norse mythos.
I have never heard of that at all actually. Anyone else got any sources on this? I'm genuinely curious now.

Also, the Prose and Poetic Eddas have different origins for Dwarves I believe. And are they the same as the dokkalfar and/or the svartalfar? I'm inclined to say yes but it's still a question worth thinking on.

I mostly remember them being rather grumpy and maybe greedy but no more so then many of the Gods and primarily being brilliant smiths and crafters. They are also presented as having a variety of roles and personalities. Four of them even hold up the sky in one story.

Mmmkay. I will dig and see if I can find the place I found that stuff. Honestly I was curious because like I said, I love dwarfs. I play as them a lot in many games and I wanted see if they were actually cursed or not because that would make a major difference to me.

I don't think Dwarfs in the myths are really more greedy or vile than humans. Unless you're thinking of that one guy who turned into a dragon.
