Shinichi looked up at the pink-haired neko. "Oh hi," he began, "I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what's going on." He glanced at the whimpering animal and said, "Come over. You must be hungry and cold." He motioned to her, went into his cottage and took out some steaming noodles.

"It's okay," came the kind reply. He set the neko and her pet down at the table, then came back with some utensils for them to use. As they were eating, he took out his own bowl from the cupboard and walked over to the dining table as well. He accidentally tripped over some straw he had left carelessly on the floor earlier and spilled hot soup onto himself. "Ow!!!!" he cried, soup dripping down from his head.

Shinichi shuddered as he felt the cold napkin touch his head. He squirmed away from it hastiliy, all the time muttering "Oh gosh I'm such a klutz..."

"I'm going to go get more food," he told the neko, "So you can make yourself at home here while I'm gone." He picked up his coat and strode out the door.
Outside, he crimped his wings into the coat, making sure that they could not be seen, pulled on some gloves to cover his nail-less hands and set off down the road.
