Is this a good idea?

pain-of-darkness
i dont think that will work at all. gaia doesn't lose anything by us not logging in for a day or a week. but if we boycotted gaia cash, that they would notice. though i dont think we could get enough people to do it. Dx

or we could do the spam idea.
just spam gaia admins with hatemail about cash.

i think boycotting cash would work the best, because they don't lose any profit from us NOT logging online, exept for the people who constanly buy cash and cute little phone key-chains and hats

i already boycott GC, so no problem with that. and i belive it could work, in about a month we can see if we have enough members to do a boycott of GC that would get them to noice us. as for spamming their acutally mailbox, we do not have to give them our username, and they sould not have our real name, address, etc.

What about a boycott of Gaia Cash or payments? For a set period of time, we get as many people as possible to not buy anything from the Cash Shop, Phin Phan, or the Monthy Collectables. It would hurt Gaia in the pocketbook (where it would sting the most) and it might be easier to convince people to do rather than not log in (imagine: "For one month, don't spend money on a site for intangible things!")

We could spread the word by forwarding Private Messages to all of our friends and seeing if their friends would like to do it as well. Maybe shout out in towns, zOMG!, and Rallies.

Firregani
I think we should spam their mail box in real life with angry mail. That's something they CAN'T ignore because they have to go through every one to look for people paying for MCs and that.

The only way we could get attention would be to send in letters to the physical address.

The Second way we could tell Gaia we are sick of their crap would be a Class Action Lawsuit. I'm sick of the bullying from people who thinks that everything Gaia craps out is gold, I'm sick of all the glitches, I'm sick of all the problems and jadedness.

If we got together a class action lawsuit for emotional damages or something like that we might make a dent. Whistle blowing on the sites poor condition might help. But nothing we can do will affect this.

Not Logging in for a month or a year? Gaia won't miss you.
Letters to their office. You supplied them with more paper to recycle or to burn in the depths of their hell xD

Anything on the website isn't going to affect them. Money is the only way we will be able to send them a message.

Yup, the only way to get to gaia is to boycott cash. I don´t buy anything with cash, and if others stop buying as well, they would eventually learn. But how do you persuade people to stop buying EIs and MCs and cash shop items? There will always be people buying things with cash and the lower is the number of people buying it, the more items they have to relelase to get the amount of cash they need.

This is one huge circle - gaia won´t stop releasing cash items because they need cash and the more they release and more wrong decisions about cash they make, less and less people would buy cash, so they need to release more items... circle. Unless admins start working on a more permanent solution, nothing we do would matter to them much.

For those of us who would like to voice our grievances through regular mail, here is a post from the Nekikid Protest gang. I would say,to contact We Have Had It for a copy of the letter they have drafted.

A letter is being drafted to be sent in to gaia, but please read these guidelines before looking over/printing/emailing/sending the letter or before drafting a letter of your own. Please, by all means, feel free to make your own letters, as well.

Guidelines:
# Please remember to send all letters in anonymously. [i.e. If you mail it, do not put an address; If you email it, do not send it from the email address that your account is hosted on.]
# The letter can be edited, but please keep the same just of things.
# Keeping with the anonymous theme - do not include your username or any hints towards your username.

Send To Information:
# GaiaOnline; PO Box 612680; San Jose, CA 95161-2680
# pr@gaiaonline.com - 'Gaia Public Relations' email address

thanks for the info. If people do send in letters I kinda wanna know the results. I still say a class action lawsuit in civil court might be a way to go. find a charge to stick and make it stick biggrin

Not trying to be a wet blanket, but even a mass boycott probably won't work. Unless we can persuade people to stop giving them real cash for GC.

This may make some people angry, but can't we do something like the old "Afro mass" on Habbo? Maybe a bunch of us sync up, carry placards or something (like the SOS placard, for example) and log on to the same towns/zOMG/rally server together.

Its not violating TOS (i think) for us to just stand/sit in a group in a heavily populated place (peaceful, lawful protests rock!)

Just my two cents.

they say it's the thought that counts.

I Don't really think that anything online is going to get through? With the rate of the server change with thankfully got better and the lack that this protest is online and attention will be brought to other users but other than that it's just spitting in the wind.

if you have noticed for example Facebook wars between the users and the company have been somewhat successful but still i doubt a bunch of internet protests and groups are going to reach the top. Gaians blindly feed the greed machine of Gaia. They have managed to survive and be fed with many gaians not buying into these cash scams and protesting these changes.

it's kinda like cutting down the rainforest. a ton of people complain and say it's wrong but everyday more of the rain forest is cut down. no one is there to chain themselves to the trees. We don't have the trees to chain ourselves to.

We need to make a statement to Gaia's assets, which is Gaia's pocket book. How? I'm not exactly sure. If we could find a charge, a class action suit would be fine.
