Cerulean, a new wolf who had just joined the Wolf Grounds pack had ran into three hungry orcs up in the mountains. She had been caught and tied up by the orcs and was going to be eaten, but she was saved by two wolves. One named Shadow and the other named Kyrie. Shadow put up the biggest efforts saving Cerulean and Kyrie helped him after only one orc remained. Shadow freed Cerulean from the ropes and then treated Kyrie's wounds that she received during the battle with the last orc. Immediately afterwards, Shadow left both of them at the bottom of the mountain, the place they were at during the end of the battle with the orcs. Shadow, not knowing what it's like to have friends and not trusting the wolves he saved, abandoned them and walked to the forest alone.

Soon after returning from the wastelands, Zan met Fea, a young wolf whose entire pack had been slaughtered by humans. Feeling sympathy for her plight, Zan agreed to help her find the humans in question. In the process, they encountered a golem of unknown origins, which Zan destroyed after a short battle. In the aftermath of the battle, Zan decided to train Fea, feeling that her present level of skill was inadequate to the task at hand. After some time, Fea smelled a fresh kill, along with three humans. Although she says they’re not just humans…
