Theocracy are pretty good to write to. Youtube's being slow on my computer at the moment, so I've just set my phone to play slow songs. It's sort of working... :/

Oh god, I have a lot of songs that help me in creative moments.

As of now the ones that help the most? The Elven Lover by Omnia, Last of the Wilds by Nightwish and Gravedigging by The Classic Crime.

For my dark modern writings (( my novel in progress )) I use Image of the Invisable by Thrice, Somewhere I Belong by Linkin Park, and Burn, Walk Away and Find The Words by Mad At Gravity.

I'm with you on orchestral music.

Post Rock is my absolute favorite though.

Post Rock rarely has lyrics as well. If These Trees Could Talk have no Lyrics. So does God is an Astronaut. And The Album Leaf.

Sigur Ros has lyrics but they're in a different language, so it doesn't matter, lol.

Pretty much anything by Paramore, Thriving Ivory, Evanescence, Linkin Park, and a few songs by Ne-Yo are inspiring to me...

I once wrote a story that was almost entirely based off of Linkin Park's Valentine's Day. The title of the story is pretty obvious...Valentine's Day.

My dad was looking for Thriving Ivory's Kiss the Rain, but instead he found Kiss the Rain(Bella's Lullaby) which is instrumental and very inspiring.

*Note: Kiss the Rain(Bella's Lullaby) is not Bella's Lullaby from the Twilight Soundtrack

Almost any song can inspire me in one way or another... mostly just because I think about writing constantly, even while listening to the radio.

Personally, however, music without words gets my imagination moving the most. Techno is my favorite =P it's much more up-beat and can really stream its own story.

Anyways, my favorite place to get some of this awesome techno (for free, completely legal downloads, too!) is Newgrounds.com !

Newgrounds has an 'Audio Portal' where people can post music they've made, it's not professional, so it's legal to download it (and easy, you just press the button!)

So, here are a couple of my favorite artists there, they both have a lot of different songs that have inspired me a lot:

They're a couple of my favorite music-makers on the site. There are also others that are really good if you can dig them out of the sand...

I am currently writing a Harry Potter fanfiction and all the darker mor omnious songs (especially the Nicholas Hooper ones) are really inspiring me.

For my fiction, I am listening to Erik Satie's gnossiennes and other darker piano pieces.

I tend to lean towards instrumental music to write or else I get all wrapped up in the lyrics and what I write is extremely deviatory aha

Indeed, Newgrounds is rad for instrumental pieces.

These though are songs with lyrics that have inspired me for passed projects though:

Still Doll - Kanon Wakeshima (Though Luckily I don't understand the lyrics here)

I find music like symphonic metal to help. It's great to listen to and I can crank it up loud enough to block out any outside noise. Anything poppy or upbeat doesn't really help. I find that sort of music distracting.

I do love my musicals and I listen to the invigorating songs of Les Miserables. Sad, possibly, but it brings back such good memories and they are such good singers. I listen to the 10th Anniversary concert. Gives me chills!
