At this point, Bradley wanted nothing more or less than to just sleep. When the stranger now identified as Cassian Borelli introduced himself, he took the proffered hand and returned the introduction, then lapsed into silence, trying to block out the fervent--and, at times, loud--debate amongst the strangers. Had he been more alert, he would have turned this piece of information--that it was noon--over in his mind. As it was, though, he merely nodded at what bits and pieces of the conversation he managed to register, grateful that they apparently weren't far from the "base", whatever that may be. Somewhere not out wherever they were. That's all that mattered--at least, for that moment.

Calina, confused and more than a little frightened by this onslaught of information hung back.

"I'm Miss Calina," she said, meekly, and not bothering with the title. It wouldn't matter out here anyway- she wasn't even sure why she bothered with the honorifics. They sounded clumsy out here, in this heat, and not in the cool empty halls of the university. Where was the point in introductions if there was no real sociality for those introductions to precede?

But, she couldn't think about that. She was tired, and her head hurt, and all she wanted more than anything was to just go home, and curl up in her bed, and hide away there forever.

Introductions went around again, like a song stuck on "repeat." Could this get any more redundent? Next another mummy would pop up, he would flame it, it would die, and then another random person would show up and explain that they were lost, introductions would go around, and cue the mummy.

"Tuesday," he grunted shortly. "Not related to the Adam's Family."

Vasha had to restrain his palm from meeting his forehead multiple times. Couldn't this guy just give him a straight answer? Despite his exasperation, he was glad that this group of people actually had a base, hopefully somewhere near the border of this desert. He was tired. Vasha sighed loudly and decided it would probably be best to get his name out first.

"My name is Vasha," he said casually, "Anyway, so what do you call your world again, or do you just call it something generic, like 'The World'?" He thought about emphasizing his point with jazz hands, but decided that would be too obnoxious.

"Sooo," Vasha started slowly, "Why are you guys in the desert anyway? Knowledge? Riches? The feel of sand in your nether regions? I've lived in one for quite sometime and I just can't see why someone would go in one willingly."

Cassian blinked. Who were the Adams family? Returning his attention to Vasha, he said, "Our world is simply the world--or at least where I come from. There's a culture--I've never encountered it, mind you, just heard about it from another linguist--" he patted his forehead with the handkercheif again, "That calls this world Drupai, meaning 'sixth world', the other incarnations being Drupam, Druhaj, Driman, Drun, and Druali, and each world is better than the previous because the gods keep seeing what went wrong and fix it in the next world. And then there's another culture that believes that this world isn't the real world at all, but a shadow world called Zix, the real world being the place you go when you die." He laughed. "What a concept!"

"Oh, we're here for knowledge. There's not a whole lot of point in sending settlers to a desert if they can't survive--we're a survey and research team, looking at the wildlife, landscape, natives--if there are any," he added. "It's rough going, but better than being back home, if you ask me. Sure, the heat's a bit much, but it's so boring back there--nothing but conferences and useless chattering, and social events where you have to look just right and talk just right or else somebody faints." He shook his head. "Not for me. Nope, I'm a man of adventure."

Sheilding his eyes, he looked out towards the desert proper. "Looks like there's going to be a storm. That's something I just don't understand--it's a desert. What good is rain out here going to do?" Shaking his head, he sighed. "We really should get headed back to camp. Come on, let's go."

He turned to his companions and said something, gesturing at the Vasha, Tuesday, Calina, and Bradley. There was a swift discussion before the explorers began trudging back the way they came, and Cassian gestured eagerly for them to follow.

"Come on."

((I'm making up pretty much all of this as I go along. xd That might help explain why Cassian can be so cryptic, since I haven't really gotten to developing the culture he's from yet. sweatdrop Wow, long post. Sorry.))

((I feel like I haven't been here for days. O.o What a weird week; seems like forever, but it went so fast. rofl It's the weirdness of recording camp, I guess. Tomorrow's the last day, thank god, in which I can (hopefully) fix my lower-note mistakes on today's first take of Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again and do something else *cheers for Habanera* XD Crazy, crazy. Gah. I'm here now. Sorry. XD))

Bradley followed the conversation idly, glad to not have to talk or even pay very close attention. His migraine had reduced to a tolerable, though somewhat bad, headache, leaving the nausea and the rest as mere ghosts. Now he was just exhausted.

His mind wandered, and when he heard the belief that this world they were in was one life and his world the afterlife (assuming, as most were wont to do, that the Earth and all he knew was the "real world"), he mused that that could mean that when people die in the real world, they come here.

But then it occurred to him that that would mean they were all dead, so he quickly dismissed the thought and returned his meagre attentions to Cassian. He found himself almost longing for the conferences and social events, the business, the normal, boring, day-to-day crap he had become so accustomed to and therefore content with.

When they started moving, he sighed and followed, redoing the top buttons of his shirt, slipping his vest on--without buttoning it--and hanging his belt and tie around his neck. He kept his head ducked as well, but no matter the coverage, it would only do so much against the potential of sunburn. But what would that matter if he had a heat stroke first? He could only hope this "base" wasn't too awfully far.

((If people are willing to let this die, then I guess I am too.))

((Nuuuu, don't let it die! School has hit me like a bomb, and I'm barely even keeping up with my writing at the moment. As soon as school lets up a little, I'll be back though. It's because they've given us so much flipping homework, and coursework, and everythingelsetheycanthinkof work. D: ))

((No! sad I don't wanna let this die. I love this RP. I'm just waiting for others to be available and dealing with summer camps and other commitments. I'm here, though. :3))

"Frick!" Jenna said as she sat up. This was not Henlin. It wasn't Salona either. Once again the crow had dropped her in the middle of who knows where. She stood up slowly and dusted herself off. A desert. Maybe she was close to Henlin after all. Next time she was just going to drive, and screw the crow. She cupped her hands to her mouth and shouted through them. "HELLO!"
