Talwar126 , the fact that there is no space to place them on the character screen Psychicmind Move the current characters over to proved room for four more characters Just backing up Psychic's statement a little. Behold the upside down column of Mario characters. (Bad edit, I know) As for the topic, I think it's probably more likely what Talwar said about them being alternate costumes. It's more likely and it would take up less space than the downloadable characters.

The 'there's no more room on the select screen' argument is completely irrelivent at this point. @Buster: Where'd you hear this information, anyway? (About the initial post AND about the deconfirmation, I mean)

Plusle & Minun and Mewtwo don't really have any character to take the place of. (Lucario has been changed quite a bit from Mewtwo's moveset and may not be suitable, though could be stretched, and Plusle and Minun definitely have no one to be an alt costume for (though I still don't think Pra Mia stands for Plusle/Minun).)

Yeah, the whole PraMai thing is still a bit confusing. And with Dixie, you're talking about her being an alternate costume for Diddy, right? But Diddy already has a Dixie colored costume. Would he really get both? Now, about Lucario, the alternate costume thing might not really matter with the moveset. When you look at Mewtwo and Lucario, they both have a pretty similar body shape. It actually could work out nicely. Besides, I think Lucarios moves seem similar enough to something Mewtwo would use.

As for being able to resize images, no, you can't freely resize images unless it was in the code in the first place. You can MOVE things by simply changing coordinates in the existing code, but resizing is something different. Regardless, I don't see it happening. It's just people, who are never happy with what they have, demanding even more from the developers.
And yes, this was "confirmed" on one site and then de-confirmed on three others, including Smash Boards, a little while later.

another example about moving/resizing the character images on the select screen, they did that stuff in melee. for instance, do you remember, way back before you got luigi, that pikachu was next to mario, instead of being at the bottom like he is now?
and also, NekkyoMaster, cool sig. I hope sonic will be able to keep up with the screen on that stage. I thought I found a character fast enough to do it in melee, but a few weeks ago, I tried to remember (yes, I tested with many characters) but none could keep up (although I didn't try ALL the characters. for instance, trying bowser would be just stupid.... unless your trying to do it as a glitch.....) (oh, crazy thought!! maybe in "lightning mode" a character would move fast enough.... I don't remember if it changes the speed of the stages affects)

Dash12345678 another example about moving/resizing the character images on the select screen, they did that stuff in melee. for instance, do you remember, way back before you got luigi, that pikachu was next to mario, instead of being at the bottom like he is now? They were moved, yes, but never resized. This is because, in order to move them, the game would only have to reassign new X,Y variables to the images. It's a simple code change. Resizing images would be a little harder and would require more complicated variable adjustments. I'm pretty sure that they'd have to know who, what, and where before anything was coded for the screen. You also have to be sure that the select icons and pointers would need to be shrunk to still fit in the new boxes. It's just more code that the Wii doesn't have a HDD to store...

Quote: IGN: We have to ask because there are so many rumors about this. Are there any hidden characters to come? Can you unlock more hidden fighters by way of WiiConnect24 or will you offer new downloadable content -- new fighters, for example. -- using the service?
Masahiro Sakurai: No. There are no characters that can be unlocked via connecting to WiiConnect24 or interacting in that fashion. And I may be mistaken here, but the Wii doesn't have a hard drive -- it's a disc-based system -- so I don't think we'll be doing that, I don't think it's going to happen. Heres the rest of the interview... http://wii.ign.com/articles/853/853748p1.html This games winner is...Talwar126.. So i'm locking it.
