WOOO! Yay! I have just found out about something super amazing! Quote: REGISTRATION FOR ANIME DETOUR IS CAPPED! Dave announced that online registration and the PDF holding the mail-in form are disabled and we are at maximum capacity!
Thank you to PandoraWilde who told me the great news! This means that if you wanted to go to Detour this year you're going to have to wait until next year!

Althought it is amazing that the convention filled up so fast, it really put a dark cloud over our group.
Two of our members haven't sent in their registrations yet, so now they're not going to be going. ><
Laaaame.

It's great that it's gotten so popular, but it really sucks for the people who didn't get their registration in. Like the people in my group. -.-
Can you imagine how crowded it's going to be? XD

same as last year. we hit 3,000 by 4pm the friday of the con last year, so it wont be anymore crowded than last year. (still pretty dang crowded!)

It may seem more crowded depending though. Things like people cosplaying and events tend to make certain areas seem to be....full.

Ya cant feel to bad for them though, seeing as they had nearly a year to register. That and theres always next year in a larger place.

it may be larger, but it's not THAT much larger. we'll be doing a space allocation meeting for the new hotel soon, so we'll know shortly after detour '08 what the cap number will be for detour '09.

It will be larger, the whole point to have a convention and moving it is to let it grow and get the word out there about anime.
They well choose another bigger site...or then it would just be very dumb.

I'm really hoping they'll use the same hotel as CONvergance uses...cant remember the name off the top of my head...Starts with an "R"...meh. That place would work wonderfully.

this post regards the previous two above it:
like I said, 2009 is a larger hotel, but we don't want this con to grow too much larger than it already is, otherwise we'd have to move to a convention center and not a hotel, and we don't have enough staff and volunteers to do that. (you'd think we'd have lots of help, but we really don't so please volunteer!)
that and I suggested it once at one of our meetings (a while back) and the idea was shot down.
The hotel convergence is in is called the Sheraton. but that's neither here nor there. 2009 is the next place we need to worry about!
for 2009 we are at crowne plaza st. paul. and like I said, it's a bigger hotel, but it wont be THAT much bigger, so register as soon as you can after AD2008.
(and plan to throw a room party! you'll want to after you see how cool they are this year!)
