While Mirelle rode around the group with Kalis, Friar Jason had other things to attend to. He studdied their escort of archenlanders. He knew one of them, and recognized a second. Good, that should give him a more favorable disposition, should the need arise. Urging his mount forward, he came up allong side Adrius and Ilsa.
"Begging your pardon, Squire Adrius, Lady Ilsa. While I have traveled through Archenland many times, I must confess to never having been to Anvard. Would it be too much to ask what to expect? I hear that the Royal Palace is indeed magnificent, but it is difficult to seperate the rumors from the facts."

*he turned on ares's back to friar* it's the only remaining city in archenland...the rest are just shanty towns and ruins...It's larger than any city in narnia...sprawling....anything you can think of can be bought there...*he paused for a moment* it's quite a place...but beware because there are many dishonest as well. watch you gold bags and dont trust anyone *he turned back to look forward as he saw the outskirts of the town approaching.

"Magnificent is one word for the Palace, and for Anvard on a whole," Ilsa said cautiously. "Bewildering, though, is a rather more accurate one. I was constantly getting lost the first time I was stationed in Anvard-- if you've never been to such a place before, it's all too easy." She shrugged. "I don't wish to criticize my land's capital, so I'll simply advise that you watch where you go."
She looked off into the distance. She usually prefered the stillness of the wilderness, but the sight of the city and far-off castle was welcome. For a moment, she saw it through the newcomer's eyes as vast, exciting, perhaps a touch frightening.

The Friar nodded. He too could see the city, and he had to admit, it was larger than he had suspected.
"What can you tell me of the Royals? If there is a chance I am to be interacting with any of them, I would like to know their manerisms before hand. What are they like, and what kind of company do they keep?

((OOC: Seems we've determined that this is set post-Horse and His Boy, but still during King Lune's reign.))
Ilsa adjusted her horse's reins.
"I know little about the King's personality, to be truthful. My conversations with him, when they do happen, tend more towards practical matters than socializing. If I had to judge him, I should say that he strikes me as fairly even-tempered and wise."
She thought for a moment. "It's really Prince Corin that I know best, though. It seems that scarce a day passes that I don't see him around the barracks or stables. He's got a quicker temper-- keen to learn fighting, too. He boxed a sergeant twice his weight last month. Won, and broke the poor man's nose, too. The Prince still treats all the training and sparring like a game. That worries me, sometimes. His brother is a bit more serious, but he spends a lot of time with the Lady Aravis Tarkheena-- she might as well be counted a member of the Royal family, at this this point, I suppose."
