So many cons I wish I could go to! I've only ever been to Nan Desu Kan, though I've done that for about 4 years. (I've also just found out about one called Anime Wasabi, which is in my general area.) I have a silly little dream of someday spending a year traveling around to see all the big conventions everybody talks about that I've never been to. sweatdrop

I've worked GenCon and Dragon Con but the only one I actually sat at for my own comic is the Motor City Comic Con (which is a nice convenient 40 minutes from my house in Detroit). So tiring.

You. . . you've been to GenCon? Oh!

What's it like? Is it as hectic as they say? As fun? I'm so envious!

It was fairly massive and crowded beyond belief. The building/stadium thing it was in was sprawling and you can easily get lost trying to find your way around. The best part was that I go to go for free, including airfare and a hotel room and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza which was literally a two minute walk from the center.

I say you should definitely go at least once in your life.

Oh that's so cute, your dad was your first GM ^_^

My dad and I used to play video games on the nintendo system we had. And then he introduced me to the computer and I played the Three Stooges game CONSTANTLY. Up until high school he was my source of video games. 3nodding

We always tried to get my mom to play, too. But she always claimed that she had no imagination. . . Said she used to dream in B+W, and that meant that she had no imagination. Whatever! We once tried to get her to play Magic: The Gathering, too. But the first deck she ever picked up had a Giant Spider on the bottom (the only card you could see when still wrapped) and she put it down and never picked up an other one again! (she hates spiders). She loves video games though! She used to play all night and into the morning when I was younger!

I always felt lucky because I didn't have to go thru the "Dungeons and Dragons is the Devil's game" with my folks! But I got to see it thru my friends.

Oooo, now that sounds like fun! When one of us wins the lottery, we'll pick up the other and travel. KK?

Heh, my mum was never the video game type, but she doesn't discourage it or anything. I was also happy not to get the "devil's game" talk from my parents, they were always happy to let my siblings and I be who we wanted to be.

When I hooked up with my first D&D group my dad dumped all of his old D&D stuff in my lap, which was funny since it was a first edition hard cover of the D&D Players Handbook and a few board game set ups.

The summer before going away to college it was necessity to procure a PH, Monster Manual and DM, as well as a set of my own dice so that, in the event that no one at my Uni played (I go to a smaller university in the middle of no where) I could start a group. When I got down here, the majority of the people I found interested in playing D&D were girls. Heh. That always made me grin. 3nodding

Ha, that's funny.

It's always nice to find other fem players. But I kind of got used to the attention I got at RPG cons!

wink

And I used to be a dice fanatic. I collected for years and years. Still to this day, if I see a set that I like, it usually goes home with me. I even have three sets made out of semi-precious stones!

I started with a little tackle box, and it eventually grew to be a big tackle box. I have so many dice, that at one point we were making "beginner sets" for the newbie players in town. It was bad. I still have most of them. In the living room. Where I can show people.

wink

My dice. Let me show them to you!

( I don't use this website anymore, but it's still there. each different section in the tackle box is a hotlink to a pic of the dice in that section. I know, really sad! I have more than that now, these pics were taken some years ago!)

My Dice Collection

don't forget to click different spots on the picture!!!

XD Huzzah!

Yeah, I don't think it'll ever actually happen, but it would be awesome. ^^ Maybe I'll just space them out over a few years or something so I can hold down a job at the same time. ^^;
