I prefer the BBC version. It is infinitely more detailed and true to the book than the 2005 movie. In fact, I think it make have be one of the truest film presentations of a book I've ever seen.
In the 5 hr. miniseries, the characters are so much more defined. You can see them grow, change. I believe the exaggerated personalities of some of the characters stays true to Austen's satire seen throughout the book.
I did enjoy the 2005 movie very much, however. It just could not be made long enough to do the story justice. I loved the intense scenes in the movie, and that music that accented them. I also preferred some of the characters in the movie. Jane, I thought, was as beautiful as she ought to be, but slightly less demure. I loved the way Wickham looked, as well- much more handsome than in the miniseries.
One element in the miniseries that I felt is missing from the movie, and is very much needed, is the way you can tell Mr. Darcy becomes fascinated by Elizabeth almost immediately after their meeting. His eyes follow her and gaze. You can see fascination become admiration and something more, just from the look in his eyes. The scene at Pemberly when Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth stare across the room at each other is my favorite in the miniseries. No words, just gazing. It caries so much emotion.

I do partially agree with Usagiami, because she brings up a really good point. I just feel like in the 2005 version, you can actually see the emotions of the characters come to life. In the BBC version, some characters lacked a certain intensity to their emotions. Jane and Caroline Bingley, for example. But I do agree that the BBC version stays very true to the book. Kudos for bringing up that point about Mr. Darcy actually being shown falling for Elizabeth in the BBC version. Yet, I also kind of like how we don't get to see what Darcy thinks about her much in the 2005 version. It adds an air of mystery to him, and Elizabeth did think of him as an enigma. But thanks for bringing that up.
And one of the things I love most about the 2005 version: I loved that really long tracking shot they did at Netherfield. Brilliant cinematography. My vote still goes to Joe Wright's version, although this arguement has made me see the miniseries in a new light.

While the miniseries did show Lizzy and Darcy's feelings, I find that it wasn't really...convincing. I found it far more believable in the '05 version.

That, I agree with. In the miniseries, we got to see subtle hints from Darcy that he was falling in love with Lizzy, but...Jennifer Ehle didn't give a convincing act of it. I felt that she was marrying him out of need instead of love. In the 2005 version, we can see how both of them fell for each other, not just a one-sided thing. And the ending, although it wasn't in the book, is a testament to their love. Nakaka-kilig!
