My favorite band is Thousand Foot Krutch.
And the other bands I like are Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Skillet, Sum 41, Korn, UVERworld, and Three Days Grace.
EDIT: Oh, and I like System of a down also.

It's interesting that you guys bring up "VG Metal." You see, I've had this fantasy about being in a Metal band whos lyrics are inspired by the likes of Silent Hill, Zelda, Chrono Cross, Alone in the Dark, Eternal Darkness, Legend of Dragoon, etc (Fantasy and horror, pretty much). In the songs, I would use riffs that would be very similar or the same as some of the songs in these games. My shows would be full of kids wearing Gears of War t-shirts instead of the typical Metallica: Ride the Lightning shirts that everyone and their mom owns... That was always MY idea of VG Metal, anyway... rolleyes

Mostly it's metal and rock, but I do like the occasional Japanese (and other languages) and orchestral pieces. Some were influenced by the GH games.
