Has anyone ever heard of a game called Mafia? A large group of people gets together, and a narrator takes charge. Everyone ducks their head and covers their eyes and the narrator selects a murderer and a police officer (but they don’t know who is each other is). During each round the murderer picks one person to kill and the police officer picks someone to lock up. If the murder escapes from getting locked up, the narrator announces who is dead and locked up and the group (sans the killed and prisoners) gets to pick who they think is the murderer. If they don’t guess right, it begins all over again, but with 3 people out. The game ends when the murderer is out or the only one left.

Well, I’ve modified the game and set it up to act as roleplay. I have removed the police officer role because I fear it will make the game go by all too quickly. If we are lucky we might get several games in this. The story is after the rules…

Rules:

• PM me with the subject “Mafia” if you want to join. And send me a profile if you wish. I don’t have a form for it, so just put in what you think is important.
  
• I will close off entries [two days after this post] at Midnight
  
• I would prefer to keep the number of members 11 or lower, but I can adjust.
  
• I'll choose the murderer through a random drawing and only he and I shall know.
  
• Each round of the game, the murder kills another person. (He/she will PM me who it is...)
  
• After someone dies, the members will team up and kill/lockup their suspect. (Decided by a poll vote. Multiple rounds will be implemented if there are more than 10 suspects)
  
• The game ends when everyone dies or when the murder is killed.
  
• In the event that the murder survives until there are only two members, there will be a sudden death round where members vote on the person they favor.
  
• I will try to have a round a day. Each round I will add a new part to the story.
  
• This thread is to be used for roleplaying/discussion of the game, but you can’t kill each other. I will make the story fit into the currency of the RP.
  
• I would prefer a decent amount of literacy.
  
• Activity is required especially if you selected to be the murderer.
  
• You don’t have to be a member to vote.
  
• Follow TOS and keep it PG-13…blah…blah
  
• Have fun and don't take it too seriously...

Story (in second person):

You are in the middle of a large city. The city seems peaceful enough on the outside, but there have been problems with the Underworld (Mafia) in the past. You are not exactly the worldliest person in the world, and as soon a downpour begins, you seek shelter at a nearby house. Strangely, a young woman named Niccea lets you in and says that you can stay the night for free. You are not the only freeloading tenant in her house. There are several other people and some of them seem to be rather shady. What you do not know is, Niccea is a member of the Mafia and someone is after her head. After a lovely dinner with your hostess and fellow guests, you are sent off to a guest room to get some sleep. After a few hours of peaceful sleep, you awake to a blood-curdling scream. You and the other guests rush downstairs to find Niccea dead in the moonlight. She was not shot, that would have been too obvious, but there was a knife protruding from her chest. You glare that the other guests suspiciously and they glare back. It is assumed that the murderer is still in the house, because there wasn’t enough time, but one thing is for certain: the murderer will never allow you to leave the house alive.
