Why is the sky blue?

Well, because blue wavelengths are so short, they are absorbed by the gas molecules in the atmosphere and is then radiated in different directions all over the sky.

Wait...was I supposed to chant or something?

Wavelengths! Wavelengths! Short blue wavelengths! Wavelengths make the sky blue!

but purple is shorter than blue so why isn't the sky purple?
Purple goes past us most of the time. Cities put enough stuff in the air that you can see purples a lot of the time but otherwise the angles the sun would need to be at to cast purples on us put it below the horizon... or so I'd think.

It could just as well be that our eyes pick up blue so much more strongly than purple that the purple seems almost nonexistent even if there's actually more of it.

Edit: Ya, it's just our eyes but I'm kinda wrong about why. We just can't tell the difference between a blue to violet spectrum and pure blue+white. Sorta like how you can't tell the difference between just yellow and red+green.
The confusion seems to be one of those "how pigments mix vs how wavelengths mix" thing.

I really didn't want to go due to the fact that I really didn't want to go there initially but it seems like they will offer the best financial aid so in reality I have no real choice. -nod-

So how's your your day goin?

My father's financial situation has been bad enough that putting him as my provider on the FAFSA report gets me those nice Pell Grants.

Texas is not a good place to be. Not for a long weekend, not to move to.

That is all.

I'm not normally the guy that defends Texas (People ask me where I'm from when I'm in uniform, and I say Missouri without fail), but that's a pretty limited view. There are some parts of Texas which are awful without redemption. The panhandle is like that. There are some parts of Texas which have redeeming qualities.

Like Austin being the second gaming capital of the United States. The myriad of live music opportunities, the uniquely Austin stores and restaurants and the surprisingly scenic landscape.

I will agree that most of Texas is not a good place to be. But most does not make all.

Anyone else who would like to hate on Texas is welcome to do it with referenced sources (preferably non-biased sources, such as Encyclopedias) and a bibliography. And no, Wikipedia does not count as a source.

if we started demanding everyone post using the MLA format, everyone would quit the internet.

Viccy: Being told to go there is starting to catch up with being told I'm going there...

Astral: Instead of hating on Texas I'll say one positive word: Schligdteurbau- aww forget it.
