Basically, my first copy was this one. It was nice, and hardcover, but kinda bulky. Here's a picture of it without that sleve over it, which is how you'll find mine, still in my room:
http://img99.echo.cx/img99/1993/book3jp.jpg

Then I saw this one in a store for.. I forget, exactly, but somewhere in the range of 10-15 bucks. It was smaller than my other copy:

Not to mention being leatherbound, with gold trim, and one of those nifty built-in bookmarks. Here's anther really cool picture I took of it:
(It was a combination of the white surface and the flash that made it do that, the book didn't actually glow sweatdrop )

So you can see why, even though I still have that bulkier copy (which is the one they're currently producting) I'd really like another copy of the nice leatherbound one. If I can find it again in a bookstore, I will buy it, and therefore have purchased 3 copies of the book.

Not to mention, again, the author is dead, and so not benefiting from it being purchased anyway. He really probably wouldn't mind you downloading his work, epsecially at this point. So I really wouldn't worry about downloading it once to read it then deleting it again. Or just borrowing it from a library.

i'm thinking perhaps i should go to walden books to buy the second copy of that one you found. or maybe we'll go to barnes and noble tonite anyways because i love books.

For all to know:

I did find a copy of the leather bound edition for, like, $12 at Walden Books. That's where I found it the first time I bought it (for about the same price, as I recall) so that's probably the easiest place to find it, if you have one nearby.

*inhales deeply with the book under his nose*

Mmm... fresh leather book.

Whoo! HitchHickers Guide! I have the bible edition!
Has anyone else read Salmon of Doubt? Theres a great section in there about how he doesn't care if you download his book, seeing as how you can't stop at one, will read all 6 books of the trilogy, and then buy a copy for your friend who doesn't believe in downloading books.

Hehe.. that does sound like him. I got that book from a library once... didn't get a chance to finish it, but enjoyed what I read.

it's not such a long story, nuv. i lost it. somehow. somewhere. i like to think that the book found its way to someone who needed it more than either of us. 3nodding

Well, it's a longer story about why I had two in the first place, and why I want another despite still having one copy that isn't lost.

Mind telling? ninja

Well, usually I see it as the author put a lot of work into the book, and then you are just taking a copy of it.

Another copy? @.@

Musical artists put a hell of a lot of work into their music, but you said you have no problem with downloading that. What's the difference?

I know they do ~_~ I guess I'm just use to downloading music and that I value books more x.x'

Edit: I value books more than music like people who prefer emeralds over diamonds, personal value.

Zetan, there's a guy on a commercial for Mr. Romance on Oxygen that kinda reminds me of you xd

question

The guy is talking about hair length and how it attracks woman. Then he goes through a line of guys and says "too short, too stiff.... Mucho sexy" (I think he says that) to a guy who has long hair

So you lost his second copy?

completely and totally. and i'm not sure how because i only brought it to work where i spent all my time in a teensy office, and his room. so i really have no idea where it went.

Maybe it went to the place where my 1-3 MKR manga's went ~_~

Salmon of Doubt was the folder he kept random short tidbits, not really stories... He had 1 1/2 pages on the proper making of tea... a rather large bit on hicking up a mountain in a blue rhino suite... Really random stuff. In my opinion, its worth picking up.
