Just because it is a robot doesn't mean it is any less deserving of respect. Nor does it mean that you are automatically better than it. You were calling it a thing because you didn't consider it a real, living entity that deserves existance and/or respect... in much the same way I look at you. Hence my comment about it being ironic.
If you had meant that is was a "thing" in the same way that anything is a "thing", then you would have already been putting yourself on the same level as the "thing" you were talking down about... and that wouldn't make sense, even from
you. The difference here is that you are a curs'd monster, and it is a robotic dog that gives Jon coffee whenever he wants it. Also, it can fly.
