I'd say that everything is a thing. I'm a thing, you're a thing, a monster is a thing, a tree is a thing, a carrot is a thing, a house is a thing, a bus is a thing, an elephant is a thing. Etcetera!
There are just better categories that most things fit into, so they called by that name instead of being called a thing.

Ouch. Tachi can't even call it an inanimate objec because, well it's robo-dog. Well Tachi, I guess the best you can do is give us the breakdown of some sitcom where the family/group of people had a wacky adventure involving replacing their dog with a mechanical one but in the end they all found out that the real dog was superior.
