Thaddeus's roommates are playing MarioKart, and one of them yelled something at the game about it's mother being a syphillatic lesbian or something.

I think she's the type that uses sugar energy in place of most of the ectoplasm and can concentrate it for interactions with physical stuff.
Obviously Jon would have been a ghosty as well (from the cancer) if not for him being immortal, and possibly immune to cancer in ways unrelated to that.
