Xagarath Ankor
Now, this felt like an old series story. Excellent stuff.

And this one even more so.
We have a promising trend this year, I feel.

We had a promising trend last series. And then the finale was terrible. We shall see...

Full marks for bringing back Bernard Cribbins, even if I expect him to start singing about a piano that needs moving, or a hole that needs digging smile

Am I the only person who thought "Find a brick and chuck it through the damn window, people!"? Or failing that, get something heavy from the house. Don't stand there looking at the devastation all around you, do something useful!

A quick glance at message boards suggests that everyone thought the exact same thing.

The finales have always been the weak points. I just don't expect anything from them anymore and enjoy the rest of the series instead.

Yep, to remind us of what we were missing.

Is it me or is setting fire to an atmosphere which includes oxygen a bad idea?

Three cheers for the woman who just swung something heavy through the car windscreen though...

The atmosphere has multiple levels, apparantly.
Or something like that.

More likely they wrote themselves into a corner again.

To be fair, that's hardly a new phenomenon.

I do vaguely recall Mr McCoy throwing himself off a cliff in order to provide a cliffhanger, yes smile

I think what is most annoying is that RTD thinks he is God's gift to UK television, whereas I just keep seeing all the things that are irritating about the series. Don't even get me started on Rose.

RTD is stepping down after 2009.
Moffat is taking over.
It's official.

So, a fandom squees smile

Speaking of Mr Moffat, I see no comments about "Silence in the Library". Clearly it's only you and me reading this topic Xag smile

This is sadly true.
At least until we get Nuala back.

RTD in good episode shock?

RTD in good episode shock?

I know, the cries of amazement could be heard around the world, I swear!

I only know of one person (or couple rather) who didn't like it. They thought it was all cliched and unsubtle and they couldn't give two hoots whether any of the characters lived & died.

Personally, I thought that there was a reason why cliches exist. It's because they *are* true to life, like it or not. And the idea that the lot of them could turn to murder in less than an hour did not surprise me at all. Not only is the IQ of a mob the square root of that of its least intelligent member, it appears so is the morality level of that mob...

I really enjoyed it and actually had to put the iron down, rest my elbows on the ironing board and just stare at the TV from time to time. Almost unprecedented - I wasn't staring at the TV while I watched Animaniacs (although granted most of those were reruns to me)...

It was certainly a real novelty to see an episode that relied on character-led drama, dialogue and suggestion than any special effects.
