*Jaden brought Miss Beumont through the dimly lit walkway to the ship's galley. She had turned to ask the girl something about why she decided to come along on the ship when Miss Beumont's bird ruffled his feathers in her face, shocking her a little. His beady eyes stared her down as he settled himself back upon her shoulder. In the small amount of confusion he created, she had forgotten to ask her and instead, opened the door to the Galley.

Inside the Galley, a flurry, as always, could be seen around a chopping board, and a table behind a woman chopping vegetables, slicing onions, dicing meat and doing it in a whirlwind and flurry of activity. Jaden was quite used to seeing Destiny cook as if the boat was going down and had to feed the entire crew before they abandoned ship. The look on Miss Beumont's face, however, seemed to be one of shock and suprise. Even the flitting about that Destiny was doing as pans and pots started to surface on the stove.*

"Best keep your fingers in check here, Miss Beumont... You don't want to missin' any in the lunch, now do you?" she said, grinning wryly at her. She had heard the twinge of sarcasm in her voice earlier above deck when she had said "Alright lass".

*She called to Destiny to get her attention as Miss Beumont looked to her macaw*

"Oyi!! Miss Destiny!!" She said firmly, as to attract her attention. Jaden saw the woman spin around, knife in one hand, spoon in the other, as beads of sweat seemed to have formed on her forehead. Grinning, she nodded to her and spoke again.
"Hoy there, Miss Destiny... The Captain hopes that lunch will on eight bells at noon.... The crew has got to be starved with the amount of work they've all been doing. Hopefully you have been working on something rather hearty to satisfy them...." She then spied a number of ingredients all chopped beside the onion and meat and nodded whilest laughing to herself.
"I see you have something lined up right away... Good. The Captain will be very pleased to hear that..." Jaden then looked around in a small search for items, and whilest looking, remembered to bring something up to the cook.
"Miss Destiny... the Captain had asked that we supply the crew with pitchers of cool lemonade and cakes for the crew to have as a well deserved treat... so what do you think? I'll take some up, as will Miss Beumont" she nodded to Miss Beumont, as she was still trying to get the macaw to settle on her shoulder.

*looking over at Miss Beumont, who seemed to have taken control of her bird finally, she motioned her towards Miss Destiny*

"Miss Beumont, why don't you stay here with Miss Destiny a moment... help her make whatever she needs to make her refreshments for the crew or the help she may need with the lunch.... I won't be but a moment... I have to attend to something and then I'll be back to assist your bringing treats to those above deck..."

*without waiting for an answer from Miss Beumont on the matter, Jaden slipped out of the Galley for a moment as she headed down the hall to the Medical deck.*

Syn eyed the woman - Destiny? - for a moment, her arms crossed over her chest. She glanced at Tuslo, who was staring after Jaden as if he would want to attack her. Tuslo wasn't the friendliest with all people. She laughed aloud and stroked his feathers, cooing to him in a soothing way. "Never mind the strange Miss Jaden, eh? She's just not used to intelligent parrots." Tuslo had been extremely calm. Considering he had lived through a bank burning down, knives were old hat to him.

Now she stared blandly at the cook, considering what she should do. She had no cooking skill whatsoever, nor did she care for the feeling of being in a cramped, steamy kitchen. She raised her hand in a little wave, saying with a chuckle, "I'm sorry, miss, but I really don't 'ave any interest in cookin' and the like. I'd appreciate it if you could just let me off the hook so I could go get that proof of being an accountant or whatever the Cap'n wanted me to give 'im. Really, I'd just get in your way." Without waiting for permission, she swiveled around and hurried back up the stairs, heading for her bunk so she could retrieve the paper.

Syn flung the kitchen door open and skittered back in, placing Tuslo on a high shelf and mostly out of sight. She grabbed the nearest kitchen cutlery in sight - a knife - and grabbed a piece of meat with a panicked eye. "Err! Ma'am! I'm sorry for fleein' like that!" She was sweating furiously and obviously a little scared despite her usually bold personality. She looked around wildly, then realized she was holding a chunk of rotten fish. Dropping it back on the counter, she stared dismally at the cook.

"Ah.... 'ow can I 'elp?"

Her eyes fell on some lemons. Well, she could make lemonade at least. Or did pirates prefer rum? Well, lemonade was more practical. They wouldn't be too drunk to be of any use if they had that.

She took a bowl and a knife and slit one of the lemons in half, squeezing it hard until the sour juice flowed into the bowl. She looked around carefully, breathing a sigh of relief.

No sign of Jaden. She wasn't in trouble yet. Was she?

* I've been on vacation for the past week and 1/2. Sorry I haven't been on..*

Destiny spun around and looked at the new arrivial. " I"m sorry about ignoring you there for a bit.. I have alot on my mind at the moment" She gestured to the plethora of pots and pans around the galley, along with several mixing bowls and flour.
Seeing the new arrival begining to make lemonade, Destiny slipped into the pantry and brought out a bag of sugar and set it on the table next to the woman. [b]" Here is some sugar you can use. Strain the juice first, then mix it with with pitcher of water and add a few cups of sugar. Mix it together, then tell me, and I'll show you where we have some ice to add to it. I'll begin working on those cakes that you asked for." Whirling around, Destiny found a clean mixing bowl, and began throwing in flour, salt, baking soda, some lemon zest, and a few other things. Mixing them together, she poured them into cupcake moulds, and the popped them into the oven along side the rolls and bread that was baking there already.
Since they were mini cupcakes, they only took a few minutes to bake. She grabbed some hotpads and pulled them out of the oven, shaking the mini cupcakes onto a cooling racks. " In just a few minutes, these will be cool. The I'll load them into a sactchel, and put the lemonade into a few thermos jugs, and you can take the whole mess to the Ares and the guncrew."

Syn stared for a moment at her bowl of lemon juice, which contained more than enough for a decent sized pitcher of lemonade. Now, to figure out how to strain it. She didn't see anything to use for that around, but she started looking around, under counters and in cabinets. She FINALLY found a strainer and placed it on the counter.

Next she grabbed a pitcher and put the strainer squarely over the opening. Pouring the juice into the strainer, she waited until all of the juice had been emptied. It was almost at the very brim. She turned her head to one side to judge if the sugar would make it overflow or not. Deciding that it should be fine, she took the bag of sugar that had been given to her and a spoon. She carefully started measuring a few scoops of sugar into the lemonade until she judged it fit to be served. Unless someone's idea of good lemonade was stuff that made you pucker. Eh. She clapped her hands and some sugar that had fallen onto her palms flew everywhere.

She put the strainer aside along with the bowl, and with an exaggerated flourish, showed off her obviously minimal handiwork. "Aye then! So. Where is that ice ye spoke of?" Her eyes twinkled as she stroked the side of the pitcher as if it were an egg or a precious object. Such a strange girl.

*Jaden moved quickly between the two decks as she worried that Miss Beumont would, no doubtedly be wondering what to do in the Galley, should Destiny be all a flurry of activity and became distracted.*

"Great... if anything happens to the first person the Captain allows me to escort...." her voice trailed off to thought.
"He let me escort a new person aboard the ship... and I left her practicly alone... Sure Destiny is a great cook, but when amidst her native domain... She's quite the.... free spirit..." She smirked a little but hurried nonetheless back to the Galley.

*Swinging the door open rather abruptly, she found Destiny's normal level of chaos. Now complete with flour and other baking ingredients floating lightly in the airspace above their heads, creating a haze within the Galley, the two women could be seen making cakes and lemonade as was requested by the Captain.

Her eyes turned swiftly to Miss Beumont, as she had just finished straining the pulp and seeds from the freshly squeezed lemons and had begun ladling spoonfuls of sugar into the pitcher. Jaden watched her methodical measuring of the sugar before addressing Destiny*

"Miss Destiny, you seem to have jumped on those cakes quite quickly! Please be sure to make a bit extra.... if... you wouldn't mind... I've to deliver some to the crew that is still aboard the ship finishing up their duties..." She asked nicely as the gleam of a knife reflected the tiniest bit of sunlight off it's edge from the porthole.

*Just after announcing her request to Destiny, she turned and looked at Miss Beumont with an apprieciative smile. She had gotten much done in her absence. Despite the hard looks she had received earlier from both her and her macaw, she thought Miss Beumont may just do well aboard the ship. Jaden did eye her up oddly, however, at her cradling the pitcher she had created the lemonade in like a motherless child.*

Syn turned away from the pitcher and swiveled around just in time to catch the strange look Jaden was giving her, probably because of the way she had been fondling the pitcher. She was quite used to getting odd looks since she was a trifle insane and didn't bother to hide it, which always resulted in her doing strange things and causing much confused or condescending stares. Why disguise what you were?

She offered Jaden a cheerful wave and gave what could've been a bow had she gone lower and to the front instead of the side. She took the spoon and flicked it out quickly, the utensil flying across the room and landing on the rack right beside Jaden. Saluting in her usual good-naturedly mocking way, she said with a lop-sided grin, "Aye, so what do ye want from me now? Should I swab the deck?" Teasingly using the classic pirate chore.

Her parrot blinked at Jaden and seemed to be attempting to hide on his perch, wings raised to hide himself from the woman. For a brief moment, he seemed to lose all color and turn into a black parrot instead of a brightly hued macaw. Syn herself seemed to undergo some sort of change as well. The moment was quick and fleeting, however, so quick that Tuslo's was barely noticable and it was impossible to even realize what had momentarily changed with Syn.

Destiny motioned with her hand for Syn to follow her as she led the way to a large freezer. Using an icepick and a hammer, Destiny bashed off a few large pieces, then used the hammer to smash the ice into manageble chuncks. " Here you go Syn. Now, for those thermos jugs..." She gathered the ice up in a towel, passed the towel to Syn, then turned again, this time leading the way back to the kitchen. Bending down, Destiny began to rumage around in bins, cupboards, and closets, muttering to herself- " Where are those thermos jugs? I know there're around here somewhere.... hmm.. not in here"... this was puntuated by the slamming of the cupboard doors. " I know I put them up here......wha??.. OUCH" This followed the sight of several cake and sheet pans falling on Destiny's feet from inside the cupboard.
Then, with a cry of triumph, Destiny pulled out 4 dusty thermos jugs with lids and carrying straps attatched. Pausing to shove the pans back and slam the door, she turned and handed the contraptions to Syn.
" Here you go. Put the lemonade into the jugs and screw the lids down tight. I'll wrap the cakes in a towel, then you can be on you're way ok?" Destiny grabbed a clean towel from her bin, and wrapped the now-cool cakes in it, then placed them in a tin, so they would'nt get squashed, then placed the tin in a large satchel, along with the now-filled jugs..
Here you go! Now, be off with ya.. come back anytime.. ususally things are less hectic in here, but with the supper coming up soon, I usually have a big crowd to feed. I don' t mean to be rude, but I have to get back to my pots and the stuff in the oven. Take care." With that, Destiny turned back, and began checking on bubbling pots, thumping breads in the oven, mixing up more cake batter and making small cakes for dessert- to be dusted with poweder sugar when cool, and all sorts of other delightful and delicious things.

*Jaden settled back near the door as she watched Destiny continuing to make both lunch and the cakes. Seeing that things were calmer than she anticipated, she leaned back to watch the two of them in the Galley.

She raised a curious eyebrow to Miss Beumont once more as her attempts at addressing her with such reverence seemed to put her at unease. The bow was grossly overdone, in what was received as a mocking style. Jaden's eyes narrowed only slightly though, as the spoon wizzed by her head to the shelf beside her. When she was saluted though, she crossed her arms as Miss Beumont snapped her hand to her forehead. There was no need to be saluted and as such, decided she not return the gesture. Jaden figured that she not pose as an officer either. That would be just one more thing for the captain to possibly find fault with, should he finally accept her aboard the ship. Upon hearing the witty and dry comment of her keep as she stood, leaning by the door frame, her eyes narrowed a little more.

As odd is it may seem, Miss Beumont seemed to have brought up a touchy subject about swabbing and scrubbing decks. Her mind quickly darted back to the medical deck she had just left from as well as the letter she had just recently written to the Doctor.*

"Cute, my dear Miss Beumont.... Charming, in fact. Should ye like to do that job in shackles??" She bit her lip a little and an ever-so-slight evil grin curled across her lips. Her comment was incredibly harsh but insanely sarcastic. To her defense, there was a bit of pain behind her words on her own behalf, especially after the trouble she went through with the way her presence was discovered upon the ship.

*She notice something, as if the most subtle ripple happened before her eyes. She squinted a moment as nothing in the Galley had changed. She looked at Miss Beumont curiously but showed little emotion to that feeling upon her face. In the corner beside her, up on a far shelf, she could hear her Macaw rustling his feathers again. The sound sent a small shiver down her spine.

Trying to recover slightly, she noticed that Destiny had bottled up four large containers of the lemonade, as well as bag up a large number of cakes into 2 satchels for them. Taking one of the bags, she turned to Miss Beumont and handed her the straps to one of them. She softened her evil grin towards her and simply sounded authoritative yet polite.*

"Come on... grab a bag... I'll have you head down to where the gun crew and the captain is back in the naval yard... I'll be handing out food to the crew on the ship and near the gangplank...." she swung a satchel over her shoulder and removed a thermos of lemonade. Using the strap put it over the outside of the bag and on her shoulder, she adjusted the bag slightly and looked back at Destiny.

"I hope what you make is something delightfully more filling than the soup, Miss Destiny..." she said with a slight smile. She hadn't felt too well when she had the soup aboard ship, so that could be the reason she had no critique of its flavor.
"Besides... someone special must be about. The captain was drooling over a miss out on the docks earlier as he told me to have you be sure of lunch for the crew"

*Watching Miss Beumont taking hold of the straps she held out to her, she turned and started to walk out the door. Grabbing the handle, she made one last comment to Miss Beumont before walking out the door and up to the quarterdeck.*

"Don't forget your Macaw... you wouldn't want him to be turned into a side dish of squab..." She grinned and headed out the door, smothering a slight laugh.

<< HA! I got it in, Syn!!! ROFLMAO>>

Syn tilted her head, chuckling to herself at the comeback, mumbling quietly, "Good, good, I like that." She scooped up the remaining satchel and thermos of lemonade, heading toward the door leading out. As she went, she gave a short whistle to Tuslo, who flapped across the room and landed neatly on her shoulder. She gave him a gentle nudge with her head and murmured as she walked up toward the main deck, "Don't shift again, all right? Ye made me do it too. Even if it's for a moment."

Lutra looked up from her work after the bustle of activity ended. she looked around, shrugged, and returned to (de-)scaling fish.

* Continued from main rpg*
Destiny slipped into the kitchen to prepare some snacks for the revelers.
Now, first something to drink, and then some snacks. She began rumaging around in the cooler for gallons of spiced rum, spiked ale, and other drinks sure to increase the happiness level. She poured the drinks into mugs, and loaded them onto a tray.
After getting the drinks together, she mixed up a batch of rum cakes, lemon cakes, and spice cakes. Flour was flying all over the place, and hung in the air like a fog...
After the cakes were done, she mixed up a batch of glaze, and poured it over the round, cooled cakes. Then she dusted them with powered sugar, and stacked them onto platters.
All right, I think I have everything.. cakes, drinks.. Now, to go rejoin the party..
