Nathan rustled awake when Garrat walked in. He got up from the desk and tiredly walked over to the other, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He yawned, "welcome back.... how was the party?" he asked, sitting on the floor in front of the knight and holding his naked kitten, straining to keep himself awake.

"Horrid," Garrat answered, handing some sweets to Nathaniel. "It turns out it would have been much better to have stayed." The knight just wanted to sleep, but it seems he would need to get the prince back to bed first. "Why don't you go back to bed? You look like you can hardly sit up."

Garrat had a bad time. Nathan thought he looked a bit frustrated. He felt bad, perhaps he shouldn't have let Garrat go. Maybe he did need to start acting like a piece for those whom he respected. Rubbing his eyes, he stood back up with tired smile and touched his shoulder. "I'm sorry... I guess I should've listened to you... Garrat, go use my bath and relax. I'll go to bed when you come back.." He murmured as he pat the knight's back.

Garrat would have asked why Nathaniel would wait, but he didn't want to bother with it. Instead, he headed to the bath to clean up. It actually felt good to be rid of all the filth that built up over the couple of days. Once finished, he got dressed and returned to where he had been before.

By the time Garrat would return to the room, Nathan had stolen the knight's chair in an attempt to sit upright and not fall asleep. It failed however, since now Nathan was fast asleep on the chair as the naked kitten wondered around under the bed.
"..." he snored peacefully with his head hanging low over the arm rest. The initial intention tonight was to make Garrat sleep in the bed as a way of an apology to him for letting him go and end up having a terrible time.. But he didn't mean to fall asleep so suddenly.

Seeing Nathaniel asleep on the chair, Garrat didn't have the heart to wake him in order to get him to move. Gently, he lifted Nathaniel from the chair and carried him to the bed. The prince was heavier than he looked, the knight had to admit. Whether or not it was a good thing would have to be a thought for another time.

The next morning, the court was all a flutter and bustle when it turned out that the lake beside the castle had started flooding. Nothing serious at the moment, but the rain just wouldn't stop.
Unfortunately for the young prince this morning, his cheeks were abnormally red and his head too warm. He groaned quietly in his sleep, with his little kitten was curled up beside him.

Garrat himself was pacing around the room, almost racked with guilt. He was sure Nathaniel would not have gotten sick if they hadn't gone back to town the other day. The prince's happiness perhaps lessened the burden, but it wasn't worth the illness. The knight worried, but he tried to reason that Nathaniel had had worse illnesses before. He should be able to pull through this as well, but it did little to ease Garrat.

Nathan rubbed his eyes as he began to wake up as he noticed his friend pacing nervously. He yawned as he could already tell that Garrat was probably blaming himself. He couldn't really get up to let the Garrat know he was fine, however, so he just waved him over to sit by his bedside.
"Garrat, It's okay. This happens all the time. Besides, now I can spend more time with our new pets. " he muttered with a friendly smile. "Have you named your starling yet? I figured out that the kitten is an egyptian Sphynx I think.." he smiled, muttering his words as his body shivered from the chills of his fever. "I think you should name it Peckers....or Peck " he suggested.

Garrat said nothing for a moment. How Nathaniel could see the positive side of his predicament was strange. Yes, this kind of thing happened all the time, but Garrat was always afraid that each time would be the last. Nathaniel was supposed to still have plenty of years left.
The knight was a bit relieved when the subject was changed to naming his starling. "I'm actually thinking to name him Reynard. He's a rather sly bird," Garrat said as said bird perched on his shoulder.

Nathan laughed and smiled as he heard the name. "That's a wonderful name! I like Reynard. And I bet he'll like the name too. I wa-!?" the young prince was about to mention that he too wanted to name his kitten, when at the mention of slyness a knock came to the door, " uhm Come in..?" he called and in walked in his sister.
Manureva was holding a cup of tea and set it down on the table, then her eyes immediately darted to the sight of her fevered brother and a pinkish looking creature beside. She screamed was about to run out the door when Nathan shouted, "WAIT!" and cuddled the kitten closer. He looked at Garrat and held the kitten out to him and asked him to hold it for a second while he struggled getting up and out of bed to comfort his screaming sister. She looked disgusted and was about to run out of the room. He explained to her that the creature was indeed a cat, not a rat.
When she finally calmed down and looked at the cat herself, she raised her eyebrows. "Just promise you won't tell mother~" he begged his sister. She looked over her brother's feverish face and crossed her arms, but for some reason she couldn't look Garrat in the eyes. A long pause stretched between the two until finally, she sighed. "Alright... I won't tell .... as long as Garrat makes sure you drink that tea.." she stated with small grin. She noticed the bird on Garrat's shoulder. "I'm assuming that's your pet then?" she asked looking at Garrat. " You two couldn't have gotten some ... better looking pets..?" she asked. Nathan sort of smiled but suddenly needed to lean on Garrat.

Garrat only raised an eyebrow. He would have expected Princess Manuerva to be happy for her brother. "It's a miracle already that the prince has found a pet that doesn't make him sick or that doesn't hate him. A cat, no less. To find such a pet that looks more appealing may be downright impossible," the knight answered. "As for Reynard, he just won't leave me alone." He led Nathaniel back to the bed and returned the kitten to his arms.

The Princess groaned and rolled her eyes. "Well at least your 'Reynard' is ... cute..." she admitted,"I won't tell anyone.... but it would be best if you kept him .. or it.. quiet.... And be sure to get plenty of rest.. again" she stated. Nathan nodded and happily held his little naked kitten in his arms and mumbled with a pout to himself as she began to take her leave.
"hmph... Becquette is very appealing... " His head was red as he began to drink his tea that his sister brought. "guh.... she makes me so frustrated sometimes.. even though she hardly comes to see me ... " he finished the tea and then laid back in bed. He pet the naked kitten and it curled and licked his fingers, " and Reynard is very cute... because he won't leave you alone.." Nathan laughed to himself but stopped slowly as it was difficult to laugh when his face was so warm.

Garrat wasn't sure what to say in response. Reynard did tend to act cute, but his cuteness did not balance out what an annoyance he was. Perhaps that was the thing with starlings. Reynard chirped as if with pride and Garrat half-expected him to speak those darned three words again. At the moment, he did not know why the bird only repeated one phrase over and over again so far, but it was starting to grow into a concern.
"Do you have a name for your kitten?" Garrat asked after a little while of silence. "Perhaps something Egyptian." The only name he could think of at the moment was Bastet, but that was the name of the Egyptian cat goddess. A female name. At the moment, the knight assumed the kitten was male, so Bastet could not be the proper name. Unless, of course, they find out differently.
