"Thief!" a voice called, and Kasiya stood upright, her eyes darting left to right. Fang let out a weak cry and hobbled away from the Manectric, scooping up the Pokeball with his wing and returning it to Kasiya.
"Thanks," she murmured, her gaze bouncing back and forth from between the Manectric and… elsewhere, as she wasn't sure where the voice had come from. She looked at the sphere, still not sure why the Pokeball hadn't worked.
"Don't you move, you thief!" the voice came again, this time much closer.
Kasiya minimized the ball and slipped it back into her bag, still looking around. "Where?" she called back, fully intent on helping to catch this 'thief.'
"Don't play dumb with me! It's you! I know a thief when I see one!" This time, the owner of the voice had come forward, and Kasiya looked up to see a girl, maybe a year or two younger than she was (judging by her height, at least), standing atop a large boulder and pointing an accusing finger at her. "Thief! Leave my Pokemon alone!"
This time, Kasiya understood the short, dark-haired girl's meaning, and pointed at herself. "Me? N-no, wait! You've got it all wrong, I'm not a thief!" she cried, her arms flailing. Fang croaked weakly at his side, the paralysis still bothering him.
"There are two things in this world I hate, and those are thieves, and LIARS!" The girl jumped down from the rock, though her landing was much less than graceful, and she glared up at Kasiya after recovering from her stumble of a landing. "Don't you dare lie to me, thief! I saw you with my own two eyes! You're trying to steal my Pokemon!" The girl was now pointing at the very-weak Manectric, which appeared to be both happy and relieved to see her.
"Your Manectric…?" Kasiya mumbled, finally putting two and two together. She snapped her fingers. "Of course, if this Manectric already belonged to someone, it's no wonder the Pokeball didn't work!"
"Yeah, you can't catch a Pokemon in a Pokeball if it already has a trainer," the girl said, recalling the weak Electric-type into its actual Pokeball. "It's a good thing to have in place too, as it makes things tougher on thieves like you! My name is Amelia Trainor, and it's my own personal and sacred duty to bring down the shining hammer of justice onto people like you! Prepare yourself, villain! Your reign of evil ends here! Pokeball, go!"
=-=-=-=-= Quagsire is really doing well, Misty thought proudly. She remembered the Water Fish's days as a Wooper, how she'd always tried her hardest, but now that she'd evolved, she was quite the battler. Again that dragon came streaking in with his amazing Extremespeed, but like before, the gym leaser already had a counterattack in mind. "Brace yourself, and use Ice Punch again, as soon as you can!"
Quagsire always thought her trainer's voice sounded funny from underwater, but at the very least she understood her commands. The Water/Ground-type braced herself as best she could while submerged, already focusing her power into charging up her Ice Punch. If she tried it too soon, it would freeze too much of the water around her and make the attack sluggish, but if she waited too long, then it wouldn't freeze enough. Despite her focus, Quagsire's face remained blank save for the silly smile she seemed to always wear, and she refrained from crying out as the Dratini's attack hit her. That would probably leave another bruise, but she forgot all about it as she swung her icy fist at Faustus.

Almost immediately, Riza felt her heart drop into her stomach. She was more than certain that another Ice Punch would bring down Faustus, but she knew that this was his first battle and that he was probably still lacking in stamina. Perhaps it hadn't been a good idea to make his debut at battling a gym battle, but then again he had taken down Misty's Goldeen so it couldn't be that much of a waste. Faustus had trouble recovering after landing his Extremespeed, and even though he tried to put some distance between himself and the Quagsire, he just didn't have the steam for it. The Ice Punch struck directly below his chin and he was pushed up to the surface with the force of it. Riza could plainly see that he was out of it so she held up his poke ball and called him back. "You were great, Faustus! I'm so proud of you," she told the sphere as she clipped it back on her belt. She looked over at Misty, and grinned. "Gotta admit, your Quagsire is tough," she said, nodding.
She reached for her second poke ball, but she stopped herself as she'd stared to choose Diemia. Then, she remembered Plua's hostility and decided then that the cranky bird could probably use a good fight as an outlet for some of her anger. "All right, Plua, you're up," she said, releasing her Fearow. Plua squawked angrily and looked around, not spotting the blue Pokemon in the water until Riza said something. "Be on your guard, this one's tricky," the girl said. Okay, so maybe Plua wasn't the best of options for this match, but at least the flying-type aspect would make the Quagsire's ground-type moves relatively useless.

Thieves like me? Shining hammer of justice? Reign of evil? Villain? What on earth is this girl talking about? Kasiya thought , watching as the girl threw two Pokeballs forward, releasing two Pokemon - a big, green lizard thing and a big moth thing. The girl narrowed her eyes, and withdrew her PokeDex, skimming the two entries that popped up. Sceptile and Dustox. Okay, well Fang's out, but Twilight and Rosemary should be able to handle this… Kasiya eyed the girl again, noting that she wore a cream-coloured outfit, cape included. She seemed quite determined, and Kasiya dared to make eye contact with her as she released her Meganium and Umbreon. "I don't know who you think I am, but you've got it all wrong," she stated firmly. Both her Pokemon looked around curiously, surprised to find themselves in a battle already.
"The bringers of good are never wrong," Amelia retorted, waggling her finger. "The light of justice will brighten even the darkest of places. It's my civic duty to arrest criminals like you! Sceptile, Leaf Blade! And Dustox, Poison Sting!"
"I'm not a criminal!" Kasiya shouted, overcome with the urge to run over to the girl and smack her upside the head. She'd dealt with enough crazy lately, thank-you very much. The Sceptile gave a cry, the leaves on its arms extending as it raced toward Twilight, while the Dustox began to flap its wings rapidly, shaking loose dozens of tiny scales which were then sent in a volley toward the Meganium. "Rosemary, Reflect! Twilight, Protect!" Her orders seemed to be given just in time, as Twilight's green barrier shielded him from the Sceptile's strong Leaf Blade, and two panes of reflective light materialized in front of both Pokemon a split second later, which just so happened to protect Rosemary from a large portion of the Poison Sting.
"Such tactics are only used by cowards, and villains!" Amelia shouted, obviously angered by the way Kasiya's Pokemon deflected the attacks. "Dustox, give 'em a Psybeam! Sceptile, Pound!" The two Pokemon were both quick to comply, with the Dustox's antennae flashing before it shot off a rainbow-coloured beam of psychic energy toward Rosemary. Sceptile launched itself into the air, twisting and shifting its body so that its powerful tail were positioned to slam down hard onto Twilight. Both attacks hit home, but neither the Meganium nor Umbreon were ready to give in yet.
=-=-=-=-= Misty couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief now that the Dratini had been recalled, and she glanced down into the water at her Quagsire. The Water Fish Pokemon was swimming around somewhat happily, if not oblivious to the fact that she'd just taken down her opponent. She looked up as a flash of light glinted overhead, and now she saw something flapping its wings up overhead. Misty, meanwhile, didn't know what to make of the Flying-type as they didn't seem to be used very often. Regardless, Riza's Fearow looked rather aggressive and Misty realized that she'd be unable to use Quagsire's Mud Shot and Mud Bomb techniques effectively.
"Quagsire, I think it's time to use Water Pulse," the gym leader called finally, her gaze never leaving the Fearow. She had to admit that this battle was rather fun, especially now that she'd evened the score. She remembered well the Gardevoir and Weavile Riza had used in the contest the night before and how strong they'd been, and though she tried not to let that intimidate her, it was difficult not to think of it. Quagsire, meanwhile, jumped up out of the water and landed on one of the floating mats, already bringing her two 'hands' together, and forming a small ball of water. With a grunt, the Water/Ground-type flung it forward and it grew in strength and size as it sped through the air toward the Beak Pokemon.

Of course, Flora was happy to oblige, immediately tilting her face up towards the fancy lights. As Tina began to call out for another Vine Whip to break through that Reflect, the Leaf Pokemon began to glow, brighter and brighter. The Reflect shattered another moment later, weak against the onslaught of Tangela's vines, but by then, Flora's Synthesis had finished and she looked as healthy as she had been when she was first called out. To make matters worse (or better, in Amy's opinion), Tangela took on a purplish hue and shuddered again, still afflicted by the Poison bestowed on her. It was Tina's turn to worry, especially considering the way Amy grinned at her Grass-type.
"Let's make this quick, Flora!" Amy commanded, thinking that Karrigan's battle must be nearing its end as well. "Magical Leaf!" Flora released another flurry of those oddly-colored leaves that slashed through Tangela's vines again. Tina bit her bottom lip, surprised by the change that her opponent seemed to have gone through over the course of the battle. Where she once had been unconfident and worried, now she practically glowed, her eyes sharp and unafraid. Amy seemed oblivious to this change, only focusing on winning this battle.
"All right, let's buy some time! Sleep Powder!" Tina said, on her last legs. Tangela didn't seem too happy with the strategy, but she charged forward nonetheless, beginning to glow a faint green. The bespectacled girl immediately ordered Flora to dodge at any cost, slightly startled by how she sounded. I almost sound like a trainer. Flora began to bound away from the Vine Pokemon, knowing that she was in trouble if she fell asleep now. But she also noticed something else: Tangela wasn't putting up that much of a chase. In fact, she seemed quite fatigued herself. Amy noticed this as well and wanted to bite back an order for any attack, anything to end the battle. It almost seemed too cruel. She hesitated then, and said nothing when Flora spun on her heel and charged right for Tangela. She said little more when her Pokemon rammed right into Tangela, knocking her back quite a bit but also taking the Sleep Powder meant for her. Amy watched with wide eyes as Flora swayed with drowsiness before succumbing to sleep, collapsing then and there, while Tangela still stood. The Grass-type seemed weak, but still conscious.
And then the tell-tale purplish hue of Poison returned, and Tangela let out a small cry and collapsed. Amy had won.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The girl laughed again at the sight of a mud-covered Jake, feeling momentarily light-hearted in the midst of a battle she had taken so seriously. Well, it was just a battle for fun, she remembered, and Jake seemed much more experienced than her. It was okay if she wasn't much of a challenge, this time. But the next time, she intended to be a much more worthy opponent. Jade returned her attention to the battle at hand, trying not to fret over the fact that Bibarel had taken the battle into her own hands (or paws). The aggressive Normal/Water-type wouldn't even break a sweat with Aquarius, she knew. So they had to rely on strategy to keep him from getting completely mauled.
Mud sprayed at the raven-haired trainer as Bibarel hurtled towards the stock-still Psyduck, but Jade managed to ignore the mud on her legs. She would clean up afterwards, she supposed. "Aquarius, you have to do something!" The little yellow duck didn't seem too intent on actually doing anything, as a matter of fact. He simply stared and held his head as the Beaver Pokemon barreled towards him. And then he hopped up and directed his beak at the ground. With the added force of a Water Gun propeling upwards, Aquarius managed to flip over Bibarel and land behind her, turning to face his opponent once again. Instead of any taunting or any attacks, he simply seemed to wait with a meager quack. Let the fight come to him, anyways.

"I keep telling you, I'm not a criminal, or a villain, and I'm not evil!" Kasiya shouted, kneeling down beside Fang, who could barely move due to his paralysis at this point. The Crobat cried out weakly in response.
Amelia gave a sharp laugh, and once again pointed accusingly at Kasiya. "There's my proof! You're trying to steal my poor little Azurill, just like you were trying to steal my Manectric, and I'm going to make you pay for hurting them! Keep it up, guys, attack again, just like that!" Her two Pokemon sprang into action again; Dustox firing off another multicoloured Psybeam while Sceptile attempted to slam its tail into Twilight.
Kasiya glance at the still-unconscious Azurill wrapped up in her towel, next to the little campfire she'd built, and she shook her head. "So the Azurill is yours," she said, standing up again. "Twilight, Rosemary - switch opponents!" Her Pokemon were also quick to comply, and Rosemary stepped in front of Twilight, taking the full-force of the Pound attack (and practically laughing it off) while Twilight intercepted the Psybeam. Since he was a Dark-type, he was immune to Psychic-type attacks and it fizzled out harmlessly against him, and he sneered, the blue rings on his body glowing brightly. Kasiya glared defiantly at Amelia. "I saved your Azurill, so you should actually be thanking me, not attacking me like some crazy person!"
"Hah, a likely story!" Amelia hollered back, though her strong front wavered a little when the two opposing Pokemon shifted their targets. She also seemed to miss the fact that Kasiya had just called her crazy. "W-well, if you saved my Azurill, then why were you trying to steal my Manectric? Dustox, Gust attack! Sceptile, Fury Cutter!" The Dustox's wings whipped up a strong wind, which whipped and tore at Twilight. The leaves on Sceptile's arm lengthened again and it brought the bladed leaves down on Rosemary, who cried out in pain. Seeing that her Sceptile's attack seemed quite effective, Amelia commanded another one.
"No, that's not it at all!" she cried, possibly more upset that her Pokemon were suffering because of Amelia's accusation than she was. The girl darted forward, and stood protectively in front of her Meganium, arms outstretched as she prepared to take the full strike from Amelia's Sceptile.
=-=-=-=-= Though Amber's Confuse Ray had been successful, Karrigan was not breathing any easier, even though the confident Vulpix was stalking around her half of the battlefield, sneering at the Ivysaur. The little fox gave a bit of a snort when the Grass-type ran squarely into a tree, hurting himself, but Karrigan wasn't so quick to judge. "Try an Ember attack now," the redhead said, giving a slight nod. It had been a mistake coming here, she knew it.
Amber trotted dutifully toward the confused Seed Pokemon, her tail flaring with a hint of red as she took a deep breath and then opened her mouth, spraying a small blast of scorching embers at her opponent. The Ivysaur definitely looked flammable, and Amber was definitely not sharing her trainer's apprehension over this match. Piece of cake, really.
=-=-=-=-= Jake's head snapped up when he heard Jade's lighthearted laughter from across the muddy field and he stopped himself, realizing just how ridiculous it was to get upset over a little bit (well, more than a little bit) of mud - that's what washing machines were for, of course. He laughed as well, now looking to Bibarel as she'd decided to give her Rollout attack a try, and the blonde began to suspect that it was one of the Beaver Pokemon's favourite attacks. She seemed to have relatively good control on the slippery battlefield, and he realized he should probably thank Jade at some point for showing him the tactic. The blonde watched with a raised eyebrow as the yellow Duck Pokemon used his Water Gun as some sort of makeshift jetpack and just like that he'd flipped himself up and over the oncoming Bibarel.
"Behind you," the blonde called quickly, smirking as Bibarel turned on a dime, kicking up even more mud and water and grass bits behind her as she sped toward her yellow target once again, picking up a bit of extra momentum. Bibarel was definitely determined, that was certain.
=-=-=-=-= Oh, my poor, dear Ivysaur, Erika thought, wincing as her Pokemon staggered back from his ineffectual assault on the tree. To make matters worse, her challenger had started in on the Fire-type attacks, and even for all her shouting, Erika's voice did not get through to Ivysaur in time for him to avoid the red-hot embers. The Seed Pokemon gave a shriek of pain and backed away from the Vulpix, significantly singed and his eyes wild with both fright and confusion.
"Ivysaur, dear, you can do it!" Erika's kind voice rang out, filled with encouragement and confidence. "Please use your Sludge Bomb attack!" The leafy Pokemon gave another cry and shook his head, starting to move forward as he set his sights on the Vulpix. The flower bud on his back shone a bright, temporary purple as a sphere of toxic sludge, and of the same colour, no less was formed. With a grunt, Ivysaur launched the toxic blob at the Vulpix. He didn't want to get hit by those flames anymore!

"Wh-what are you doing?! No, wait Sceptile! Don't attack her, stop!!" the dark-haired girl practically screamed, and the Grass-type skidded to a stop, his glowing leaves mere inches from Kasiya. "Why would you throw yourself in front of an attack?" Amelia called, her voice now quite shaky. "Are you crazy or something?"
I really wish people would stop asking me that, Kasiya thought, breathing a little easier now that she hadn't been cut to ribbons by a Fury Cutter. "I-I couldn't stand here and watch you attack my Pokemon because of a misunderstanding," she said, squaring her shoulders and taking a deep breath. "Look, I didn't mean to try and steal your Pokemon... no wait! That's not what I meant. What I meant to say is, one of my friends has a Manectric and I love Electric-types and I didn't know the Manectric already had a trainer and otherwise I never would have tried to catch it! I would never steal from another trainer. Ever," she said, slightly winded yet firmly, though the memory of swiping Sirrus' Pokeball from Mai in Jubilife City happened to come to mind just then. She decided not to mention that to Amelia, however, as that had been a special set of circumstances. However, the more she thought of it, the more she realized she could probably use the Flygon as a means of forcing Mai to return Shocker to her, or something along those lines. It seemed well and fair enough, at least to her.
Kasiya's last statement finally seemed to actually get through to Amelia, and the girl finally stopped shouting accusations long enough to think things through. "You really didn't know?" she said quietly, calling her Pokemon back to her side. Kasiya's jumping out in front of her Sceptile's attack had really shaken her. "What about my Azurill?" she asked, standing up on tiptoe to try and peer around the blonde girl.
"Oh, of course, she's right here," Kasiya said, moving aside so that Amelia could see that her Pokemon was indeed safe. "I was sitting by the stream with my Crobat, and she drifted past us, unconscious. So, I jumped in the water and pulled her out. She was all wet and cold so I wrapped her in my towel and made a campfire to help her warm up. She doesn't seem to be hurt, but she hasn't woken up yet," she said, the last part a little ruefully.
=-=-=-=-= Sludge Bomb was not a pleasant sounding attack, at least not to be on the receiving end of, and Karrigan quickly looked to her Vulpix. "Amber, quick! Dodge it!" she called, knowing full-well that the Vulpix was fast enough to do so. So, no one was more surprised than Karrigan when the Vulpix turned to glare at her. Why would she waste her time dodging when she could simply blow her opponent away with another blast of scorching embers, like before? The Vulpix turned her back on Karrigan, giving a defiant flick of her six lovely tails as she breathed in, once again preparing to bathe her opponent in flames. Ivysaur's Sludge Bomb, however, had other ideas, as the more experienced Pokemon's aim was true and the attack scored a direct hit, the dampness of the sludge extinguishing Amber's puny little Ember attack and hitting her hard enough to knock her back several feet. The Vulpix came rolling to a stop at her trainer's feet, covered in goo, mud, and stray bits of grass. The attack hadn't quite knocked her out but the resulting poison seeping into her body sure was. Karrigan could only stare at the fallen Vulpix in awe, the seconds ticking by painfully before she finally returned Amber to her Pokeball.
One hit, that's all it had taken, and she numbly looked across the field at Erika and Ivysaur, not at all sure of how she should be feeling right now. "Um, thank you for your time, and the battle," she said weakly, managing to give a slight bow. The fact that she didn't feel anything was more shocking than her harsh loss, and she found that more disturbing than anything else.
=-=-=-=-= Even Erika was a bit surprised by the Vulpix's stubbornness and refusal to dodge, and the gym leader felt a bit guilty from how hard Amber had been hit by Ivysaur's Sludge Bomb. Ivysaur was still struggling with his confusion so she returned him as well, seeing no need for him to cause himself pointless damage. The gym leader brought her hands together, forcing a smile as her challenger offered her thanks. "It was my pleasure," she said, though quickly realized it was probably not very appropriate considering how handily she'd won. "But please, feel free come back and challenge me any time," she added quickly, giving a slight bow of her own. "I have no doubt in my mind that with a bit more training, you and your Pokemon will be victorious next time." She offered the redhead a warm smile. "You and your friend are always welcome here."

[Magma-Time Line]
Son of a--! Kilik tossed up Aggron's ball and immediately, the behemoth formed a large Protect around him and his trainer as the Earthquake entered its most brutal stages. The boy held himself against the large Pokemon, watching through the bubble as Cable took the beating of his life. He grit his teeth and held back the tears as he glared at Milo. So Mike was planning on killing Maxie, huh? Though he couldn't say he'd disagree with the action, it didn't seem much like Mr. Hero to do such a thing. As the shaking subsided, Kilik recalled his fallen comrade and tucked the ball onto his belt. Cable was his closest friend; or so it felt as of late. He turned his eyes up to Aggron, who was growling lowly, staring daggers into the Steelix.
"No," he said simply to his Pokemon, "You'll get your share later. I've got something else in mind." Kilik recalled, almost begrudgingly, the Aggron and then took another ball from his belt. Everything around him seemed to freeze; the chaos, the laughter, everything. We haven't had any action together in a long time, he thought as he ran a finger over the front of the ball. "So we gotta take down Portabello, huh?" Kilik smirked and threw the ball forward.
And from it burst his oldest companion, Flareon. The Fire-type Pokemon landed on the ground with grace, his fur standing on end. "Flare!!" he barked, digging his paws into the ground. His ear twitched as Kilik called out for Flamethrower attack. As the fire swirled itself around in his chest, Flareon let loose a mighty stream of fire, aimed right for Breloom's face.
-*- [Time Skip]
Kilik blinked. A gentleman? he thought, scratching his cheek a little. That would be the last thing he'd thought he'd be called. And then he heard the command for a Quick Attack. A smile spread across his face. The days where he had to rely on that move, and that move alone, felt like yesterday. But Kord seemed like a powerful Elekid, and certainly knew more moves than that. Oh! But Cable's ability! Kilik snapped his fingers. "Quick Attack is a fantastic move, Katie!" he said, putting his hands by his sides, "But quick reflexes can render the move useless!" That is of course, unless your reflexes are quicker!
"Alright, buddy!" He clenched his fist as the little blur got closer and closer, "Use Low Kick to trip him!"
Cable glanced over his shoulder for a moment at his trainer and then back at the blur that came towards him. He was fast, sure, but Cable was faster. He waited and sidestepped the attack, sticking out his foot directly into Kord's path, chuckling a little to himself.

'Plua has no ranged attacks so that thing better come out of the water at some point,' Riza thought, looking down at the water and then up at her Fearow. But then again, it would be a little more difficult on the Quagsire as well, what with Plua being airborne. It was strange to be relieved that the water and ground-type did indeed jump out of the water, even if it had launched an attack in the process, and though Plua tried to move out of the way, she misjudged the Water Pulse's trajectory and it crashed into her, sending water everywhere. Riza flinched but Plua seemed to be okay, and suddenly Riza had an idea.
"Plua, throw it right back at them, use your Mirror Move," she called. The Fearow squawked loudly, still dripping with water. Her eyes began to glow and a ball of water, similar to the one Quagsire had just used began to form in front of her. With a loud cry and a strong flap of her wings she sent the Mirror Moved Water Pulse hurtling down toward her target. * * * * * Kord's feet were moving far too fast for him to alter his course, and all he could do was utter a little squeak as the large leg tripped him up and he fell forward. The agile little Elekid managed to save himself from being hurt too much by rolling with it, and he managed to roll enough to pop back up on his feet, even if he was a tad dizzy from it. Katie couldn't help but laugh a little, as it was rather funny to watch. "Let's try your Swift attack now," she called, a little sad that the Elekid's Shock Wave and Thundershock attacks were still off-limits.
Kord quickly spun around, the little black lightning bolt on his belly beginning to flash. He jumped up and swung his arms, sending a swarm of shining white stars streaking toward the Electivire.

The Crobat tucked in its wings, dropping underneath the jet of fire launched from Felsic. The flames shot past the bat, and washed over the monitors that displayed the battle royal between Milo and his friends. The screens sparked and exploded one by one, showering the room with burning plastic and metal bits. Mike smiled at the petty joy of breaking the Magma Leader's expensive toys as Maxie shielded himself from the explosion with his sleeve, looking out of the corner of his eye as his Camerupt crumbled into a heap, the last attack from Vesuvius finally doing him in. Maxie was beginning to feel a bit cornered, though his expression only hinted at it. He withdrew his fainted Pokemon and released two more, a Houndoom and a Mighteyena. The man eyed the Mike, whose expression was rapidly changing from stern and resolute to that of pure bloodthirsty elation. "And so, I remain correct in my assumption of you. You love this."
"I do!" said the boy in between laughs, holding up two more Pokeballs of his own, releasing Nitro and Napalm. Mike slammed his hands on the wall behind him, igniting the wallpaper. The flames traveled throughout the room, filling the entire office with near-blinding smoke and fire. "You're trapped, alone with me, and there's nothing, NOTHING you can do about it! Take them out! Haha! Take them all out! I want nothing in my way!"
Nitro let out a deep-chested roar and beat his wings, taking flight and tackling the Houndoom, raking it with his claws. The dog yelped, biting back with his powerful jaws. The Charizard would have none of it, and dropped an elbow on the Houndoom's head, forcing it to release its grip. While this was happening, the Crobat circled ahead, and when given the order by Maxie, swooped down in a blur and slashed Nitro across the back with a jet of razor sharp wind. From the side, Napalm took aim, steadying his right arm with his left and traced the Crobat as it zipped by. The Magmortar narrowed his eyes, his arm cannon glowing bright as a fireball was launched, burning through the air before grazing the bat's backside. Not wanting to get a direct hit from that, the Crobat flew low, dodging and weaving in the air as Napalm continued to shoot exploding balls of fire.
At its trainers command, Maxie's Mightyena lunged towards Felsic, its teeth gnashed. The Typhlosion lowered himself to all fours and flared his mane, backing away slowly as the wolf charged. The two then stood at a stalemate, circling each other, while Vesivius, in the very definition of haste, waddled over in assistance and spit a jet of fire at the wolf. Mightyena dodged the attack with ease, but it gave Felsic the opening he needed to rush in and punch it in the side with a powered-up Crush Claw attack.
Mike looked on with glee as his Pokemon were clearly gaining the upper hand, and turned to face Maxie, who, despite the entire room being engulfed in flames, his Pokemon, and only defense against Mike dropping one by one, remained as calm and collected as ever. The Magma Leader stared at the boy, his brow unflinchingly smooth; the complete opposite to Mike's hysterical joy.
------
Titanium knew he was done for. It would be a miracle if he remained standing after an attack like that without any previous damage. In one last bit of defiance, the Steelix slammed his tail into the ground, launching a few rocks at the Arcanine before being completely consumed by the fire and crashing into the wall behind him. The impact shook the room once again, and caused the wall behind him to crack. Wow! Milo said with a small chuckle, then turning quickly to see a massive amount of fire traveling towards Portabello. Fighting fire with fire, eh? Classic, cute, but wrong! Crawduant, wash em away!
Xanthos raised his pincers high in the air, summoning a wall of water that rushed towards the Pokemon and their trainers. Both Helios and Flareon's attacks sizzled against the wave as it churned towards everyone.
Winona staggered to her feet, her ears still ringing from the chaos. Her vision cleared up just in time for her to see a massive tidal wave coming her way. Experience and instinct kicked in, and the Gym Leader released her Pelliper, who effortlessly broke a section of the wave with a Hydro Pump.
"Retour, Kitsune!" Sasha yelled, but it was too late. The Ninetales, already weak from Titanium's Earthquake, was swept away in the attack as the wave continued towards her. Sasha looked behind her. She was trapped! Just then, an idea struck. "Prickles, Racines!" she shouted, releasing her Cacturne, who dug his feet into the ground and took root. Being careful not to press up against his spines, Sasha wrapped her arms around the Cacturne, holding on for dear life as the wave crashed down onto her. Her plan worked. Prickles stood his ground and kept both of them from getting washed away. As the water settled, Sasha gasped for air and rose to her feet, looking down at her now completely transparent shirt. Even with all of this madness, explosions and death around her, Sasha Beauchamp still wished there was a photographer around to capture her soaked wardrobe. Z'his would have made for a killer shot Lamented the girl, her priorities clearly in order.

That Mega Drain attack really didn't have to go very far at all. Black*Star's energy flowed out of him and into the Turtwig healing some of the energy that it had just lost. The bigger then normal Croconaw didn't want to let go of it's prey but in the end it had to relent, the damage he was taking and the damage he was doing just wasn't enough. Growling slightly he tossed his head and let go of the Turtwig skipping back a few paces to stare down at his opponent. He remembered his dislike of grass types and to top this off this grass type was even a starter! It was like it was trying to show that it was the best starter and not him! That clearly wasn't the case though.
Robin was glad that while that Mega Drain had hurt Black*Star seemed to be ready to battle some more. That was her fearsome pokemon! Never letting a thing like super effective moves slow him down! "Great job Black*Star! Now let's show them why they shouldn't make you angry! Rage attack!" This was somewhat risky on her part since making something with a set of teeth like Black*Stars mad was never really a good idea. Still he already seemed mad and they could use that anger right now!
Gardenia was going to have to redo her entire arena after this fight with Black*Star. The Croconaw was litterally seeing red now as he let part of his mind be consumed by anger. The angry big jaw pokemon charged forward like a frieght train towards the Turtwig, dirt flying everywhere as his claws tore out huge chunks of it.

Admittedly, Flannery felt bad for having to attack her childhood's Pokemon so fiercely, but sadly he'd left them no other choice. She'd decided to pretend that the phantom wasn't there, save for when he barked out commands to Mike's Pokemon. Oh dear, she thought, watching as the Steelix fell, and the shadow promptly ordered for Xanthos to strike back against the five Fire-types that had been released. Upon seeing the wall of water, Torkoal scurried close to her trainer and threw up a second Protect, which went off without a hitch seeing as how she'd used Flamethrower before hand. Flannery whimpered and ducked down, holding onto her Torkoal quite tightly as the water closed in on them.
Kasiya knew right away there'd be retaliation for Hiro's Overheat against Titanium, and after he'd taken the full brunt of the previous Earthquake, she wasn't going to wait around for him to suffer more, possibly permanent damage and she quickly recalled him, narrowly escaping the rocks Titanium had thrown their way as a last resort. She was instantly glad that she had recalled him as Xanthos was ordered by Milo to 'wash them away,' and her mind fumbled for a way to protect herself. Her mind wasn't on the ball, but her instincts seemed to be and as she subconsciously clicked open a Pokeball and with a flash, Sirrus appeared. The normally addle-minded Flygon acted quickly and stepped in front of Kasiya, his wings beating as he reared back and expelled a powerful blast of indigo flames into the wave of water. It cut it back enough to keep the two of them relatively safe and somewhat dry. Kasiya stared at the Flygon with wide, impressed eyes. She'd known Sirrus was strong, but that Dragonbreath was quite amazing. Mai trained him well, she thought.
As the water receded, Flannery once again stood up, glancing down at her Torkoal gratefully. That was twice the Pokemon had saved her from some massive damage. She looked over at Kasiya, raising an eyebrow at the sight of the girl's Flygon, and she looked back at the others. They couldn't give up now, they had to press on, so that they could stop Mike. No one had been able to help him before, but they were there for him now, and Flannery fully intended to make sure he knew it.
Kasiya was still feeling quite bad about the Overheat Hiro had used on Titanium, and she couldn't help but hope the Steelix would be able to forgive her someday. But still, that was one of the defenders down, and that meant one step closer to Mike. Her heart began to race and she looked to Sirrus, but the Flygon was way ahead of her. He'd set his sights on the Crawdaunt that had summoned the massive wave of water and he zipped across the ground, which was already starting to dry in places, and he thrust an electrified fist at the lobster.
=-=-=-=-= Riza was definitely right about Quagsire having to take the battle up and out of the water, and Misty watched with satisfaction as the Water Fish Pokemon scored a direct hit with her Water Pulse. That satisfaction would only be fleeting as the next thing she knew, her Pokemon's very own attack was being thrown back at it. Quagsire gave a cry and tried to cover her head with her arms, but it was a pretty futile attempt at defense and the aquatic orb hit her quite squarely. It wasn't the most damaging, considering Fearow's unremarkable special attack skills, but it wasn't the damage that was the problem at this point. Water Pulse had the chance to cause confusion on the subjects, and that was what had just happened to Misty's Quagsire.
The Water/Ground-type staggered about the mat almost drunkenly as the confusion set in, and Misty let out a small groan. This battle was definitely not going the way she wanted it to. "Hang in there," she called. "Try a Water Gun next!" The blue Water-type did a bit of a teetering twirl and unleashed a Water Gun in a random direction, but it was not likely to hit the Fearow. Misty sighed. Even if Quagsire fell, she still had her ace.

Things seemed to be going somewhat well for them at the moment, especially when Kilik released his Flareon to aid Helios in blasting the Breloom with fire. It had been the first time Keegan had ever called for Helios to use Fire Blast, and as impressive as it was to the redhead, it was also short lived as Milo quickly commanded a counter. The wave of water rushed forward and Keegan did the only thing he could think of, which was to return the Ninetales to his PokeBall to keep him from suffering damage from Xanthos' Surf. This, of course, left Keegan completely vulnerable and all he could do was close his eyes and pull in a quick breath as the tsunami crashed down on them. The water was surprisingly cool and very different to the warmth of the volcano base, and it didn't take much for Keegan's feet to be swept out from under him. It all happened very fast - the tow of the water was strong and he quickly realized he was being pulled back toward the doors that Tierra had busted open, which was probably also the only thing that was allowing for the water to recede from the cavern, which hadn't felt so big as it was being filled with water. At one point he felt himself slam against a wall and his hands groped along it for something sturdy to hang on to, finally getting a good hold of an uneven outcrop and and he clung to it tightly.
When the water settled gravity took over and the redhead dropped to the ground with a thud onto his back, soaking wet. "Fantastic," he sputtered, rolling over so that he was on his hands and knees, already reaching for Themis' PokeBall. That's when he saw Kasiya's Flygon (or maybe Kilik's, he really couldn't tell from this distance) speeding toward the Crawdaunt, readying a Thunderpunch and he paused momentarily. "Ah, what the hell," he muttered, choosing to release the Manectric anyway. If the Flygon failed somehow, Themis would be right there, offering Xanthos a Thunderbolt to the face. ===== "Sparkle, while it's close, hit it with a Thunderpunch," Miharu called out, immediately after the Wartortle's Aqua Tail had slammed into Leroy's Houndoom. The normally docile Ampharos didn't have to move very far as she reared back her flipper, glittering with electricity, and smashed it quite viciously into the Wartortle's stomach. It may have been protected by its hard shell, but that didn't stop the electricity from quickly coursing over it and causing it a great deal of damage. It staggered back, noticeably weaker, and Leroy decided it was time for Houndoom to bring it down.
"Dark Pulse," he growled, more annoyed that his opponent had sent out a Water-type to counter his Fire-type than anything else. Houndoom snarled and unleashed the dark, pulsing aura again. It pounded up against the Wartortle, filling it with a dark, horrid energy. This proved to be too much for it and it fell over, unable to continue battling. "Yes," Lee said, making a fist.
During that exchange of attacks, Krysta's Clefable had been sitting idle, or close to it as the Fairy Pokemon had been waggling its fingers back and forth on its trainer's orders. When her boyfriend's Pokemon fell, she pointed forward and Clefable's Metronome was complete. A slender blade of blue energy spiked up from the pink Pokemon's hand and she charged, slashing it across Houndoom's chest and easily knocking it out. Miharu's PokeDex identified the move as Razor Shell, something she'd never heard of before, and she watched sadly as both Greg's Wartortle and Leroy's Houndoom were returned to their respective PokeBalls. ===== The cowboy guffawed as luck didn't seem to be with the Dusclops or his trainer, as not only had the Thunder Wave hit but the Water Gun had made it sparkle and shine and it had been good for points. The next thing he knew, however, a large fist seemed to come out of nowhere and smash into his Rotom-W, and with enough force to send it spinning. To add insult to injury, someone in the audience had summoned a fierce Hail storm with their Pokemon and the confused Ghost-type seemed to be able to do nothing but float there, taking passive damage and still suffering from confusion.

Riza hadn't known that Water Pulse could cause confusion so she herself was a little confused to see Quagsire behaving so oddly after being struck by Plua's Mirror Moved-Water Pulse. The blue water-type shot off a very wild Water Gun, and though Riza's first impulse was to use Mirror Move again, she knew she'd be much better off using Plua's other attacks. "Hit it with your Aerial ace," she called finally. That, and she knew her Fearow would be far more satisfied if she were able to tear her claws into something.
Plua gave a loud, ear-splitting shriek and she flapped her wings, hard enough to send a few feathers drifting down into the water below. She shot downward, her claws glowing with a bright light as she swooped in, eager to dish out some hurt as she'd missed out on the last few training sessions due to her 'attitude' toward her teammates. * * * * * He may had just siphoned away some of Black*Star's health but those icy fangs had still hurt Turtwig, even though he did his best to try and pretend like it hadn't. That Croconaw had some scary sharp teeth without being enhanced by ice and the grass-type would rather not be on the receiving end of them again. Gardenia, however, was quite impressed with the Croconaw, as it wasn't often a water-type could come in and hold its own like that. "Come on, now, Turtwig, you're all right," the gym leader called, her voice still pleasantly cheerful. "Don't let him get to you, give him a taste of your Energy Ball!"
Turtwig gave a short nod, his leaf beginning to glow as a green orb of pure energy began to form in front of him. Croconaw was coming in fast and the grass-type quickly lobbed the sphere forward, not able to see if his attack connected or not as he was bowled over by the very angry Black*Star a second or so later.

Amelia's demeanour had shifted in an instant, and now she looked very embarrassed. "Can… can I see her?" she asked, the guilt showing in her eyes and her cheeks burning red. Her Pokemon's attitude hadn't really changed even though they'd backed down, though Kasiya suspected that it may be because they didn't get to finish the battle with her Pokemon. Twilight and Rosemary stood diligently near their trainer, still suspicious of the strange girl.
Kasiya smiled warmly. "Of course." She motioned over to where Fang still waited, though the Crobat eyed Amelia with narrowed eyes. He was still afflicted by paralysis, but he gave a low, grating growl that showed he wasn't about to take crap from anyone. Kasiya looked on as the girl knelt beside the sleepy little Pokemon, patting her two Pokemon on their heads as they'd come back to her side. "You guys were great," she told them, even though they hadn't actually attacked and had been on the receiving end of a few hits.
"Oh, you poor baby," Amelia said as she scooped up the small, blue Pokemon. "We need to be more careful next time, don't we?" She set her bag on the ground and rooted around in it for a moment or two before she pulled out a small vial. She sprayed it on the small Pokemon, and within a few seconds its eyes fluttered open, and it gave a whimper.
"Was that… an awakening?" Kasiya asked. She hadn't even thought of using something like that, though she didn't have anything more than a few antidotes with her.
"Yes," Amelia answered, hugging her now-awake Azurill. "See, we were training a ways upstream, and I guess my Spinda's Hypnosis must have hit poor Azurill, here. She's too young to battle just yet so she was just watching. She must have fallen asleep and tumbled into the brook. Thank goodness you found her, and I'm sorry we attacked you. Oh, that reminds me…" she took something else from her bag, though this was a small, cherry-red block that looked more like a piece of candy. "It's a PokeBlock, and this one is made purely from Cheri Berries. It should heal your Crobat's paralysis," she said, offering the PokeBlock to Fang.
Fang didn't so much as blink; he just continued to stare at Amelia with a somewhat blank expression. "Fang, it's okay," Kasiya said, kneeling beside the bat. "This will help you, I promise…." She trailed off when she realized he wasn't moving. "He's… he's asleep," she said, her eye twitching. It seemed the Crobat had suffered full paralysis for the past few moments and fell asleep as he waited for it to wear off. Everyone laughed heartily at the Crobat's silliness, except for Fang, of course, who remained asleep and paralyzed through all the noise.
=-=-=-=-= That Fearow is nasty, Misty thought, her blue eyes narrowed as the Beak Pokemon swooped down toward her still-confused Quagsire. Despite all her cries and shouting, it seemed the Water/Ground-type could not hear her and she was subjected to the Fearow's strong Aerial Ace. Her slippery, blue skin was now riddled with painful red gashes, and Misty knew Quagsire was nearly done for.
"Try your Ice Punch again!" the redheaded gym leader called, pointing at the Fearow. Misty didn't plan on giving in without a fight. Quagsire seemed to shake off her confusion this time around, and she lunged at the Fearow, arm curled into a fist that had flared up with an icy, blue energy.

Both trainer and Pokemon blinked against the bright sunlight as they exited the Petalburg Woods, and almost instantly the sweet scent of the trees and other greenery was replaced by the salty tang of the ocean, which was visible on the horizon. It was a bit of a downhill trek to get to the seaside, and Keegan could see a lonely-looking little cottage set on one of the cliff banks, overlooking the sea. Keegan knew firsthand that this cottage belonged to the elderly Mr Briney, a good-natured old sailor that had helped him get to Dewford, and then to Slateport at one point or another. The old salt didn't seem to be at home now, however, as his boat was not currently docked, otherwise the redhead probably would have stopped in to say hello. After all, Mr Briney lived alone, with the exception of his two Wingull. That'll be me when I'm old, he thought, somewhat bitterly. I'll be all alone, with my Pokemon as my only friends. The Growlithe at his side had stopped and was watching the Wingull and Pelipper circling in the air above them with wide, anxious eyes. "Relax," he told the Fire-type, resting a hand on her head. Eithne whined. "No, I'm not sure what's next," he answered, sensing the Pokemon's question. The Puppy Pokemon let out a sharp bark, and the two continued on.
Keegan and Eithne had nearly made it to the small beach area, and Keegan felt a prickle of excitement at the thought of reaching Petalburg City without incident. Of course, as soon as the thought crossed his mind, he heard someone calling out to him, and he sighed, reaching for a cigarette but quickly deciding against it. He looked over to see a woman in a rather fancy green sundress walking toward him, a closed parasol of matching colour in hand. She looked somewhat familiar, but the redhead couldn't quite recall from where. "Can I help you, ma'am?" he asked, silently praying that her answer would be no.
"Oh, goodness me, it is you," the young woman said, looking quite happy to see him. Once she got closer, however, her happy expression faltered slightly, and she suppressed a laugh. "You look... awful," she said, after carefully searching for the right word. "What have you done to yourself?"
Almost instantly, Keegan raised his hands and felt his face, which was admittedly a little roughed up after yesterday's events. He hated to admit it but he was still grateful to Sheridan for having her Chansey use Softboiled on him, otherwise he'd look even worse as the injuries he'd suffered at Slateport would have been well into their ugly green and grey stages of healing. "Thanks," he said, deciding to take 'you look awful' as a compliment, mostly because he still couldn't recall how he knew this woman. ===== "Zangoose, go," Lee barked, releasing the Cat Ferret Pokemon from its Ultra Ball.
"Machoke, it's your turn!" Greg called, and the Superpower Pokemon appeared next to a smirking Clefable.
"You have got to be kidding me," Lee grumbled, shaking his head. "Zangoose, power up with Swords Dance. Don't let that thing anywhere near you." He hated being at the disadvantage, but with his Zangoose's Aerial Ace, he could possibly bring the Machoke down in one hit if he could get another Swords Dance in. Zangoose, meanwhile, raised its claws high above its head and they shone with a crimson red, signifying its boost in attack power. The Clefable, in the meantime, had been commanded to use Cosmic Power and it did just that, boosting its defenses as Zangoose boosted its attack.
Miharu glanced up at her partner, a little worried. There wasn't much you could do when your opponent sent out a Pokemon that had a type advantage against yours, but a well-trained Pokemon could overcome that disadvantage. "Sparkle, Cotton Spore on the Machoke," she said firmly. The least she could do was support her teammate. The Ampharos stepped forward and gave herself a shake, a fluffy white coat of cotton covering her for a split second before it detached itself into smaller balls and flew toward the Machoke like some sort of fluffy snow. The spores attached themselves to the Superpower Pokemon, significantly slowing him down. She recalled from her battle in Cianwood that Machoke could possess the Guts ability, which meant paralyzing it would boost its attack and possibly make things a lot more dangerous for them.
