Kyo's eyes widened slightly at hearing her own Law thrown back and used against her they raced back to her head even as she tried to stop them...

Now is the Law of the Jungle---as old and true as the sky;

"and the strength of the wolf is the pack.'' she whispered under her breath finishing the sentence both in her head and outside. her ears drooped remembering just what the words meant for her.( she had no pack, no strenght. And if they found her she was as god as dead)
Any argument she may have had to make her point long forgotten. Her ears dropped down and she fell silent keeping her eyes on her notebook.

Lynn stood still for a moment trying to think of exactly what to say. "Y"es, we do need family," She looked to Sean, We do need a pack," She looked to Kyo, her eyes told the girl that though they weren't related by blood they were a pack, just being in the same school. "But, we also need to think for ourselves. We can be raised one way, have those beliefs beaten into our heads, over and over again as we grow, sometimes we will never know a different life." She thought of her own pack and Kyo's. "Like the Jewish religion teaches, we should all think about who we WANT to be, who we want to be remembered as, thought of, what we WANT to believe. There are many things out there and we have to be willing to see them, there isn't only one way to live, and that is the biggest fault of society. We demand that everyone be like us, that there IS no other way," Her eyebrows knitted together as she spoke. "That is why we are so divided, because we have been taught from an early age that there is no other way to live." She brushed her hair out of her face and smiled. "Now, to exercise the fact that there IS other ways to live I want you all to partner up and talk about your differences in being raised. You must write a one page essay, just the front of the page, on how your parents, or guardians, raised you differently than your partners. Please partner with someone you don't know yet." She smiled. "The paper is due at the end of class. Go ahead and find someone, if you have trouble picking I'll pick for you, and play nice." She smiled again at the class and watched as the chose who to pick.

Jez groaned glaring daggers at Sean and at Kyo mad that their little debate had landed them an essay.
Sure she had had her own debate with Kyo but that had been assignment free.

Tora sighed figuring that since the teacher wanted her partner to be out of her confort zone Kyo was out.
She looked around trying to find the one that was most different from her.

Sean sighed glancing warily at Jez he decided that pairing up with a pissed off vamp who hated you? Maybe not the best idea.
Derek was out of the question to so he walked over to Tora and ..whats-her-name? The wolf girl.

Derek could have laughed. Different as all these students were they were still teenagers. And reacted to an essay in pretty much the same way. Wether the teacher had done this on purpose or not he didn't know.
"Waaay to go Mclay" he said under his breath as the hunter passed him.
He turned to Jez.
"Go play nice with the other kids" he whispered winking at her and pushing her foward after she stood up. He wasnt too worriied about getting a partner. He'd get one eventually

jez sulked. She had gotten used to Derek. He was..safe?
she glanced around a bit out of her place.
Puppy hated her and since she always either talked to Derek or snarked at Kyo she knew no one else.

Sean smiled down at the 2 girls-mostly because it was all he could do.
"So...who wants to pair up?"

Not wanting Kyo to deal with Sean Tora stood up.
"Lets go" she said unenthusiastically "I'll be your partner"

Derek glanced up at Nyu.
"Sure" he said smiling.


Sean sat next to Tora shifting a bit nervously, Whille he couldn't use his gun Tora looked ready to eat him
"C;mon" he said trying to diffuse the tension. "that dammed daybreakers bit was kinda funny"
Tora's glare only grew, her expression remained unimpressed.
"...you're a dammed daybreaker aren't you" he said banging his head back with a groan.
"Oh yeah"

While Sean was striking out Jez was glaring and growling at her supposed brother.
Once more, he did no work and things just landed on his lap.
"What am I supposed to do?"

"Eh, get a partner?" Derek said with a wry grin "how bout Kyo, everyone else is taken"
"Hell no, you take the puppy"
"Wolves grow in packs and so did I" Derek whispered referring to his own family dynamic.
"You however are an only child vampire princess with wolf issues" he said with his usual smile.
"Don't you know just how to talk to a girl" Jez said with a tight smile before going over to Kyo's desk.
"Sorry about that" Derek said turning to Nyu again he took out his notepad.. "So..uh..where did you grow up?"

Jez sat next to Kyo leaning foward and smiling her usual wild smile.
"Guess it's you and me puppy" she said lightly straddling her chair and taking out her notebook.

Lynn watched the class, satisfied with the outcome of the pairing.

Kyo glanced curiously wondering just where San Francisco was. She felt a stab of envy at the liberty Jez had been allowed, and at such an early age.
She was about to say she was sorry about her not having parents, before it died in her throath at hearing what Jez's family-what her whole community lived by.
It was surprisingly like hers except more..liberal. Like the other extreme of it.
Her eyes widened at hearing how they treated shifters and even more how they(shifters included, treated humans.
It was like a never-ending circle.
Also what Jez had said didn't make much sense. If she was taught to hate humans why was she on such good terms with Derek? And if she defied those rules why did she hate Kyo so much? And if Derek was Jez's brother just how had Jez grown up as an only kid? Of course they both said they were from California..
She didn't ask remembering Jez mention the threat f their first exchange her ears now glued to her head-she had no doubt that Jez would go trough with it. Werewolves were hardwired to know where there was actual danger and when it was a bluff.
"Who would I tell" she said dryly though her voice quivered a bit "I don't know anyone"
She wrote some things down working on her essay as she spoke.
"I was raised.." she paused wondering just how she'd explain how she was raised without explaining..everything. She didn't trust Jez.
"I was raised away from humans, away from everyone. In truth you were the first vampire I ever saw." she made a mental note to look up witches and shifters in the library.
"We were hidden and isolated and raised...you could say the old fashioned way. We hunt and stay within the pack territory and are home schooled. We do everything to contribute to the pack" she finished and kept her eyes on the desk knowing she'd just given Jez more to hit her with.

Jez could see the wheels turning in the werewolf's mind and was glad when she didn't ask any questions-the last thing they needed was to be on the run again and hiding a wolf corpse. (which would one way or another happen should Kyo uncover the truth)
She felt wheels of her own turning as she absorbed everything Kyo said.
Because what Kyo was describing was something Jez had only heard of in stories.
So Kyo had been brought up on an enclave. Well that certainly explained a lot.
And she was on the run?
That Jez didn't know for sure. It was merely a hypothesis based on observation. The way Kyo was always
"So If you were all about pack-power. why are you here?" she asked bluntly. Watching the werewolf's reaction carefully.

Tora stared at Sean for a moment before speaking.
"You and me. Very different people"

"Well you know what they about opposites" Sean drawled before finishing his essay at the same time Tora did.

"t-t" Jez rolled her eyes impatiently "Jeez Kyo you planin on finishing that sentence any time soon?" she said raising an eyebrow at the wolf's reaction.
"never mind." Jez said waving her off before she could attempt to answer again she wrote down the last paragraph on her essay "I have all I need"
