((Yep. Not a lot of people use this religiously. They tend to do their training over at the main thread. I do it like that only if we are not going to the hollow. 3nodding ))
Dawnlight entered the hollow. Bare and full of sand and grass as always, he was glad to see it depraved of the snow that had plagued the last season.
He turned to his apprentice and flattened his ears. "So tell me, what do you know so far of fighting? Surely your denmates have talked about moves and whatnot," he asked, remembering that him and his denmates where always fighting, claiming it was training.

Thrushpaw looked thoughtful. "They've wrestled around some, but nobody seemed to really know anything...but I did pick up a couple of things. The belly and throat are the best targets, and you need to make sure your opponent can't throw you off balance...you know, just things like that. But we were never good at balancing anyway; not till we got a little older, anyway, then we became apprentices."

Dawnlight nodded. "Well, at least you managed to understand about the weakest points. Now, do you know about the difference between us and other Clans? Their battling styles and the like?" he asked Thrushpaw, his tail flicking lightly.

Thrushpaw was not well-versed in info on other clans, and he knew it. "Not really, but I would expect that the way they fought would have alot to do with the terrain of their territory; just like the way they hunt..." He felt guilty at not knowing more, but he'd been so focused on hunting all leafbare that he hadn't given it as much thought as he knew he should have.

Dawnlight's ear flicked a little as he thought.
"Very well then. As you know, FireClan cats take pride in one thing, can you tell me what this is?" Dawnlight asked one last time, knowing he was being hard on his apprentice, but determined that Thrushpaw would make a fine warrior.

Dawnlight nodded in approval. "Correct. Now, each Clan has their own strengths because of the territory we are used to. FireClan cats are fast because of the fact that we are used to wide open areas and our prey is fast, fast enough that the other Clans would not stand a chance in our territory," he growled proudly.
"Now, the Clans are known for the following: WoodClan for its strength. SnowClan for their resistance and adaptability. MoonClan is known for its stealth, and last but not least is PebbleClan, which is known for its surprise attacks. They like to lure you in until they can strike at you and finish you with one blow. Remember this things, as they could save your life," Dawnlight explained, his head high in disgust at having to speak of the other Clans.

Thrushpaw listened carefully, taking every word to heart. "I'll remember!" He was getting excited now, ready to learn everything.

Dawnlight nodded as he saw Thrushpaw's eyes glimmer, and he recognized his own eagerness to learn.
"Now, you are not of a size as great as me. And, as a FireClan cat, we are among the smallest cats in the forest. We are fierce and relentless however, and by attacking with speed unknown to any other cat, we can drive enemies away, begging for their lives."
Dawlight saw a leaf falling from a nearby bush and he flicked his tail at this. "When you are hunting a rabbit, you must move fast to take it down, but it is smaller than you. Now, what would you do to take a cat like me down?" he asked, getting on a defensive pose.

Thrushpaw thought hard. He looked at Dawnlight, trying to figure out how he could fight him without getting severely hurt. He took an attack pose, then lunged, trying to throw Dawnlight off balance.

Dawnlight saw his apprentice lunge at him and smirked. His intentions were obvious out of inexperience, and the thought of him trying to unbalance a much bigger cat made him purr.
Thrushpaw got closer, and as he did, Dawnlight reared, and as soon as he felt the contact he grasped the apprentice's back with his claws, attempting to pin the young cat down.
"Now what?" he snarled, his tail flicking.

Thrushpaw was tickled that Dawnlight had given him such an opening. "Now I go for your exposed underbelly!" He said triumphantly, swiping with sheathed claws at Dawnlight's belly. "You've got my back, not my neck. It's protected under you now, where your claws can't get!"

Dawnlight sneered at this and clawed Thrushpaw's back as he backed away. "Very good," he growled. "However, never go straight up against a cat that is twice your size. To disbalance, try to push it by the side," he explained, licking his paw. "Now, how would you defend yourself if I was the one coming at you?" he asked, lunging at the apprentice, knowing that if it wasn't by surprise, he wouldn't learn.

"Ack!" Thrushpaw jumped, startled, as Dawnlight suddenly pounced. He instinctively dropped to the ground and rolled as the bigger cat landed right where Thrushpaw had just been. He jumped back to his feet, trying to come up with a quick plan.
