I'd rather test SP2 at work than at home. At least I'll know I won't have to deal with any problems. SP2 is a rather large update, I'm not jumping in that quickly.
What happened, anyway?

My system config folder disappeared, and I have been fighting with my laptop the past 24hrs for it to recognize the win xp cd. gonk I can't say that a virus did this s**t unless it was a pretty damn new one; i had scanned the whole computer just that evening. stressed
I'd test that update at work first.

What about system restore? That's always handy. I don't think config relates to sysrestore.

Sysrestore wasn't working until a few hours ago. I swear, something really wierd happened to my laptop last night, and the timeframe coincides all too well with installing that update. I didn't even think of it until I read your post. Now the pieces of the puzzle are falling together....
But thankfully I was able to adjust everything, and the mean machine is back in working order. whee

i know nothing. Sysrestore wasn't working until a few hours ago.
