Yeah..but honestly, whats the difference besides the continent? Though cultural influences are differnt in their unique ways, every cultural is similiar to another because, strangely, as a race we have followed the same patterns despite being so spread out.

And that was my intellectual thought for the day.

Guess I didnt make the dinstiction. I wasnt talking about just Africans and South Americans but everyone globally how all our cultures have their unique spots but are essentially the same and built off the same principles.

You were born in South America? Another person I envy.. Well, not for the economic situation there but the cultural diversity compared to America. I should have decided to go into cultural studies instead of music..

To answer Cats' question... No one asks questions like JoVo's because the people here are usually under 17, and have no interest in anything that's not gay-related somehow...

Though I have to add that, considering the effect to which globalization has begun to create starker differences between the impoverished, darker-skinned majorities (who label themselves Indios, Indigenas, and a variety of other names that are indicative of the various tribes that were the ancestors of every Hispanic person to some extent) the countries at the forefront of the globalization movement, that is, the developed nations of the Western world, have a duty to become involved. Not only does the economic instability caused by these ethnic conflicts affect these nations and their people, but they also affect us economically and politically. Sometimes, as in the case currently taking place in Iraq, these effects can transfer over to the threat of war. Additionally, there is the danger of many of our own people becoming targets of violence, such as in the case of kidnappings and bombings of investment groups and foreign contractors.

Another aspect of this that is often ignored is that, in South America, the "whites," so-called, are Hispanics. Here, in the US, I'm Latin American. When I'm in Colombia, I'm very explicitly called gringo and mono, both of which can be and are used as derogatory terms for whites. Hell, mono is a colloquial term meaning "blond," and I have dark brown hair.

My point is that the mud-slinging in ethnic conflicts always goes both ways. The problem is never solved by broad, sweeping generalizations such as "they had it coming to them." Such a foreign policy will not work in Israel, contrary to what many pro-Palestinian protesters will assert, and it will not work in any region of the world wherein ethnic conflict is taking place.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread topic.

The thing is, If I were to be imobilized, para or quadrapeligic (I'm sorry on spelling) I'd would like out. I do not have the patience for life as is, but to have to deal with another issue, then no.

Q: A smart question eh? Alright, My question is targeting the American Educational system. Why do you believe it is that The american Educational system, compaired to the Canadian Educational system is so diffrent in regards to the History in which students learn. Canadians Learn about world history, world geography, and from what I have come to understand is that American schools teach American history and american geography only. Why do you suppose this is. ((And saying American is the best contry will make me hate you, It isn't, there is NO best country))

My response to that question is quite simple... American schools might have the belief that the students do not want to hear of the history of the rest of the world. We have a similar system here in Australia, but we can elect to learn the history of other countries. I know that's a fairly lame answer, but it sounds explanatory enough.
