I used to use right handed ones up until grade four when I got my first pair of left handed scissors. I can use right handed ones when I really have to but I have trouble... Left handed ones are so much easier as you can see where you are cutting. The upper blade doesn't shield your view of where you are cutting 3nodding .

I agree with that, I used to get mad at people when they would swap and put their fork in their right hand though and tell them that "the fork is on the left side for a reason"... sweatdrop

I use my caculator in my right hand, I can't use it in my left. I taught myself to use my right when I was in year six so that when doing math, I could put numbers in with one hand and write with the other 3nodding . I knit left handed, but I had to teach myself that as well... sweatdrop . My mouse is also on the left, but I can use it on my right when I really really have to like at uni. All the mouses are on the right... sweatdrop . Basically I do everything left handed except for using my calculator 3nodding . Oh, and ironing. I iron with my right hand 3nodding . You?

I can't use a calculator with my left hand, it just feels stupid and uncomfortable... sweatdrop

Hehe, I feel weird using the mouse in my right hand. My dad has his mouse on the right and it's not symetrical like mine so I can't just change the side and settings... sweatdrop . Hehe, mine's an optical chordless mouse and whenever dad goes on my computer he just picks up my mouse and puts it on the right. He tries to open things but it doesn't work because he's using the wrong buttons xd

It's really weird when I have to use the mouse on my right at uni, it just feels so weird and I have trouble getting the cursor where I want it to go... sweatdrop .

I think I only do a few things right-handed that I really notice. I swing right-handed in Baseball/Softball/blah, use the mouse on the right side.. and.. hrm. On occasions I can write clearly on the chalkboards at school with my right side.. but not often. surprised

I can use right-handed scissors in my left, it's never bothered me. 3nodding Or maybe the kind I've been using all my life were just made for both hands? I'm not sure. Fiskars. I never notice. xd But even when I do use the ones with noticeable blades, I don't seem to have any trouble. 3nodding

As far as I know, scissors cannot come uni-sided. It's all about the positioning of the blade. If you open them, you will see that the blade going upwards can either be on the left or the right. If it is on the left, they are left handed, thus allowing you to see where the blades close on each other (where the item gets cut). If they were to be uni-sided, the blade coudn't be on either side, but the middle... I don't think that's quite possible unless you had a bottom blade that was split in two for the top one to slip into when the blades were closed... but then you'd just end up with two cutting areas... sweatdrop

The reason you probably don't have any trouble with right handed ones is because you peer over to look at the other side to see where the blades are meeting. I do the same thing with right handed ones, but it still feels awkward... sweatdrop

I'm at the stage of having to look over the other side when I use left-handed scissors.

When I write on the board, I have to hold my hand above it so it doesn't smudge. On my own paper though, I rest my hand on the paper, but the way I move my hand after I've finished a word avoids too much smudge. I lift it slightly. I used to get pretty bad smudges no my hands after a long day of school defor I developed that method.
