Brayden was going to joke back about the Arbokskin boots. They probably would look rather good on Kaya. But Brayden's focus was torn back to the battle as the Arbok released its vicious attack on Rem.
Brayden couldn't help but wince. Even Ariadne seemed unnerved, which was quite rare for her. Even when things got bad, she'd keep up the facade. But the Gardevoir couldn't help but be slightly shaken by the display of power that the snake had shown.
It was a harsh reminder.
But Brayden noticed that the strike left the Arbok open for another attack.
'Ready to get a little revenge for Rem?' Ariadne asked. Brayden nodded in eager agreement.
"Let's use Psychic," Brayden requested, as Ariadne complied, concentrating before sending a powerful wave of mental energy, striking hard at the snake's defenses.

"Crap, that thing's strong." Withdrawing Rem to his Pokeball, Kaya reached for another. "Let's go Aoi." Throwing the ball into the air, he watched as it burst open and the Metang appeared.
"Alright Aoi, use your Confusion!" he called to his partner.
"With pleasure, Master." The Steel type summoned up it's mental energies and launched a psychic wave at Arbok. It wasn't anywhere near as strong as Ari or Rem's Psychic attack but it was as effective as he could be.

Arbok turned on Ariadne after it had dealt it's blow to Rem. ~"Your time is nigh, mentalist."~ it hissed at her, it's belly pattern granting it the familiar unimaginable power once more. Lashing out at the Gardevoir, it sank it's fangs into her flesh, which it noted was much easier on the fangs than Rem had been.

"Ari!" Brayden called, seeing the serpent charge at his partner. The Gardevoir winced, cringing as the snake's fangs sunk in. Brayden felt slightly ill, his stomach dropping as she took the blow.
'Its okay, boss, don't worry... I'm al-' the Gardevoir stumbled, falling to a knee, suddenly finding all her strength leaving her. A wave of dizziness, as things began to fade to black for the empath. Even her connection with Brayden faltered for a moment, things getting muddled in the psychic type's mind.
'Well... this is troublesome...' Ariadne trailed off, collapsing. Brayden could do nothing else but watch her fall, disbelieving, as she returned to her Pokeball with a faint flash of red light.
Something in Brayden's eyes changed. They seemed colder. The Aqua Buckler flashed for a brief moment, but was quelled, as if cut off.
Brayden motioned Zeke forward, the Squirtle casting a wary glance to Brayden, but did as ordered.
"Water Spout," Brayden stated simply. The Squirtle nodded, inhaling sharply, before releasing a powerful jet of water at the Arbok. He struck hard, smiling faintly once he had completed his attack. Hopefully that would weaken the snake enough.
Brayden didn't even seem to acknowledge anything but the Arbok in front of him and Kaya. His gaze never left the snake.

Kaya couldn't not notice the change in his husband's demeanor. He suddenly seemed cold and calculating. It was as if he were suddenly a completely different person.
"Aoi, finish it! Confusion!" Aoibhinn nodded and sent a pulse of mental energy at the Arbok, dealing the 'death blow', so to speak, that would avenge his masters' fallen comrades.
Kaya thanked the Pokemon and rushed to Bray's side, hoping to high heaven that Brayden would be his usual self and not have turned into some creepy psychopathic monster thanks to Agatha's freaky snake.

"........Wretched meddlers....." Arbok slunk back a bit before it turned a slithered away in retreat. Turning into bright red light, it vanished back into the Pokeball from whence it came.
Seeing their leader fall in defeat, the various Ghost and Poison types scattered, fleeing into the wilds once more, leaving only an ill wind in their wake and many toxins to purge from the land and skies. The people of Cerulean would need many generations to recover from this attack, it would seem.

Brayden simply watched as the snake retreated, Zeke returning to his Pokeball. He felt... disoriented, wavering slightly on his feet. His mind was muddled, not able to get a clear thought through. He was vaguely aware of the fact that the Ghosts and other Poison types had fled the city, and removed the handkerchief he had tied around his mouth, able to breathe a little clearer. It did little to clear his mind, however.
With the retreat of the Arbok, Brayden honestly just didn't know what to do.
"I..." he mumbled, eyes unfocused for a moment. He still felt faintly sick, blinking confusedly as he turned. His eyes caught Kaya's for a brief moment, before turning away.
"Please don't hurt it," he murmured, sounding small and scared. But in a flash, his demeanor changed, staring blankly ahead out at the city.
It took him a few moments of dizziness, before Brayden had to sit down, dropping his bag next to him. A few items scattered out, which Mel set out to picking back up again. Just because her trainer was losing it didn't mean that she had to deal with him littering.
However, the Oddish paused mid-cleanup, surprised to find herself glowing. Evolving into a Gloom made things easier to pick up, as having hands helped out tremendously. The last item she saw was a small orange stone. She picked it up to chuck into Brayden's bag as well, but found that it vanished in a faint flash of light, Mel reflecting that light for a moment as she began to glow again.
"Oh for crying out loud..." she muttered in her own tongue, looking down to find herself now a Bellossom.
Brayden seemed to be having a similar identity problem. The nausea didn't help any either. He set his head weakly on his knees, trying to get his head cleared up. It didn't seem to be cooperating, however, as his thoughts continued to swim in a muddled mess.

"Bray! Bray!? Are you ok?" Kaya knelt by his lover's side, almost afraid to touch the younger male. He wasn't sure what Bray was like when he was upset. He'd never really seen the man like this before. What am I supposed to do? I've never seen him like this....I don't like it. His thoughts swirled around in his mind for a moment before he was left with a blank.
So instead of fighting it and trying to figure it out, he leaned his head on his husband's shoulder and wrapped his arms around him. "It's ok..." he murmured quietly. It was uncertain if he was doing so to reassure Brayden of Ari's safety or if he was trying to reassure himself that Bray would be alright.

Bray was trying to settle his stomach, trying to force even breaths on a pair of lungs that just didn't want to cooperate. He was unaware of the fact that he was shaking slightly, but noticed the warmth of a few tears that escaped.
Brayden was dimly aware of another's touch, another source of warmth, looking up to spot Kaya. He blinked, confused for a moment, before his head cleared enough to form a decent sentence out of his mouth.
“I... I'm sorry about that,” he murmured, not entirely sure what “that” was. He fumbled for words for a moment, before settling on silence, leaning back into Kaya's embrace, closing his eyes. His thoughts still churned, but at least his breath was evening out a bit. Stupid lungs.
A flash and he saw it again in his mind. Blood and gore splattered on otherwise pristine tile floors. The demented grin of metal fangs, a scrap of fur still caught between iron teeth. The sound of laughter...
Brayden shoved roughly away from Kaya, but it was for different reasons as the water trainer scrambled away a few yards to re-aquaint himself with his last meal behind an overturned postal box.

Kaya sighed in relief when Brayden finally spoke again. "It's alright. Don't scare me like that, though." he whispered. "I'll be right back, I can help this town very quickly."
Standing up, he walked over to a nearby tree and laid his hand on it. "Help me, my friend." Closing his eyes, he stretched out his senses. He could feel the toxins poisoning the land. What else could he do but try to purge them? Drawing on his inner power, he used the flora in the city to collect the poisons and gather them together. The many poisons drawn together, he pulled them into the tree before him.

Once Brayden was semi-confident on his feet, he looked up, spotting Kaya by a tree. He figured the former prince knew what he was doing, and Brayden wasn't too confident in his own skills to be able to do anything to help.
So Brayden headed out to try to find the Pokecenter. He needed to heal Ariadne up. It would help his conscience, and his nerves. He had a lot to think about. Namely the strange visions that he had been getting, but he kept quiet for now. Their mental images still flashed in his mind from time to time, but he tried not to focus on them.
"She'll be okay..." he murmured to himself, repeatedly over the course of the trek to the center. Maybe he believed it by the time he reached the familiar doors.
After giving over Ariadne's Pokeball to Nurse Joy, Brayden tried to distract himself by rearranging his party a bit. But by the time he was done, he was still fretting and worrying.
'Would you quit it? You're acting like an old granny...' came the sudden (and more than welcome) thought in his mind. A wide grin broke out on Brayden's face as he made his way back to the front counter. A moment later, Nurse Joy emerged from the back, carrying a familiar Pokeball on a tray. Brayden thanked Joy gratefully after getting the all-clear from the nurse, clipping the Pokeball back to his belt.
'Bout time... loser... You better not have spazzed on me after I took a nap,' Ariadne muttered. But she knew well-enough what had happened after a quick peek through Brayden's mind.
"So, what do you think?" Brayden murmured, once the Gardevoir had time to see what he had seen.
'Well my first reaction would be a memory,' Ari stated thoughtfully as Brayden made his way back through Cerulean. He noticed a real difference in the air. Kaya must have done... whatever it was he was doing with the plants.
Brayden came up alongside Kaya, watching the tree in front of his husband carefully. It didn't take long for him to piece together what had happened, although he wasn't quite sure how exactly Kaya was accomplishing such a feat.

Once he was done, Kaya stepped back and placed a hand on his forehead. "Thank you, humble spirit." he murmured to the tree that had taken on the poisons.
"I think...." He felt dizzy for a moment before he stumbled, crashing to the ground and panting hard. "I...think *huff* we *puff* can go now." He looked pale as he looked up at Bray, offering a weak smile.
Rem's Pokeball burst open and Rem appeared by Kaya's side. "Oh dear...."

Brayden frowned, squatting down next to Kaya, watching his face worriedly.
"What happened? You didn't take any of the toxins inside you, did you? No... wait... is this part of that Gift of Shaymin you mentioned earlier? There's nothing I can do to help, is there?" he asked, realizing he was babbling. His own thoughts were brushed aside, all his focus on Kaya. The last thing he wanted was for him to be in any pain.
Brayden looked to the Jirachi, hoping that it would have more answers.

"No, it isn't. And he isn't poisoned." Rem assured Brayden, examining the ex-prince lying on the ground. "It would seem this is simply exhaustion."
Kaya laughed dryly and tried to sit up. "Ehehehe...Sorry..." He seemed to have caught his breath. "That took a lot out of me. Those toxins all have organic bases, so I was able to manipulate them. And the tree agreed to take them all in and contain them, so the Gift of Shaymin didn't react like it would've if it was a forced reaction like what happened at Seafoam Islands." His explanation made about as much sense as everything else that happened to him. Which was little to none.

As Kaya attempted to stand, he found himself looking northwest. At the edge of the city, he saw the old cave known as the Dungeon. And from inside, it seemed as if something was calling out to him. The moment his thoughts turned towards the cave and a possible visit, he felt the familiar trickling of mystic power into his being. And as the wind blew, he found himself wisked away to he-knew-not-where.

Brayden was surprised to find Kaya vanishing into thin air again, and it took him a moment to realize that it was the work of the strange necklaces that they had found.
'He'll be okay, boss,' Ariadne supplied mentally from her Pokeball, helping to quell Bray's rising worries a bit. Wherever it was Kaya had gone, if he didn't need to be there, he'd teleport right back. And, after all, if Kaya was in any trouble, he'd call, right?
Brayden nearly jumped from his skin as his PokeGear rang. He was really unused to the sound, having relied mostly on messaging to contact his friends. Brayden dug in his pocket, looking at the number. Well, it wasn't Kaya, but Brayden knew this number well enough to answer with a wide smile.
"Hey, long time no chat," he greeted his parents, "I'm actually in Kanto right now, in Cerulean. I should come visit you guys."
"No, Brayden," came the weary voice of his father on the other side of the line, "That's just what I wanted to warn you not to do."
"What's up?" Bray asked worriedly, taking a seat on a bench under the tree Kaya had recruited to help clear the poisons away from the city. If he had the same abilities as the former prince, he would have thanked the tree as well. Sine he didn't, he had to settle for a thankful look up to the branches.
"That blasted Team Rocket has taken over the city," came the reply, "They used the trouble in the other towns as a cover. While all the trainers traveled there to help with the invasions, Team Rocket moved in." There was a pause on the line, as something sunk in with his father.
"Wait, you're in Cerulean? Don't tell me-"
"No, I know what you're thinking, and no, I'm not in any danger," Brayden smiled faintly. He understood his partents' worries. After all, he had just taken on two armies of rampaging Pokemon. He wasn't going to admit that to them, however.
"Things have already been cleared up here. I was just here to see about helping out with the aftermath," he explained. Which wasn't entirely a lie.
