"Whoa! Wait a sec, Gretch! I forgot my book!" Kaoru shouted, surprised that she was able to pick him up so easily. Of course, he didn't weigh very much, but it still amazed him. She was much stronger than she looked as well. He reached out and picked up the historical novel, reading it as Gretchen dragged him. It wasn't the most comfortable way to get breakfast, but he didn't have much choice.

"Hurry time is now!" Gretchen said carrying him down the stairs. "Good food will be gone if ve on time not get!" she said. She entered into the kitchen almost running into the back of another servant that was standing in line. There was a table with a bunch of delicious looking food on it. The servants filled their plate and walked into a room where tables were. There was about twenty other staff members.

"Um... okay." Kaoru said absentmindedly, his nose in his book until they were in the presence of food. Then, he tucked it away and sniffed at it, the scent slightly amplified. His sense of smell was a bit better than that of a human, but not as honed as a dog boy's would be. Wiping his mouth, he reached down and snagged a piece of bacon, stuffing it into his mouth.

"You get food on plate! Hurry, please! I vant to eat food before going to vork. You come sit vith me." she said handing him a plate to fill. She quickly grabbed what she could and exited the line.

"Okay." Kaoru said, swallowing the bacon he'd knicked and grabbing himself a plate. He loaded it up with bacon eggs and toast; he even found some fish, to his surprise. It didn't seem like a breakfast food, but he took some anyway; he loved fish. Once hed picked all the food he wanted, he sat down next to Gretchen, surprised to see that he hd alot more food than the others.
"It looked so good I couldn't help myself." Kaoru smiled weakly, picking up a piece of toast and taking a bite out of it.

"It is being alright." she said taking a bite of some eggs that she had gotten.
"You stay with Master Chase all night and he let you?" Gretchen asked quietly her tone seeming amazed.

"Well, he was sick, and I made it obvious that I wasn't going to leave until I was sure he was feeling better." Kaoru shrugged, taking another bite of his toast, "I guess I fell asleep." He poured himself a glass of milk (his favorite non-caffeinated beverage) and continued munching, working quickly on the large mound of food on his plate.

"Last time someone do that tried Master Chase had called for servants drag out of room." she said.

"Really?" Kaoru said, surprised, "I guess he really wasn't feeling well after all." He smiled, glad he'd done his job. As long as he was feeling well today, he wouldn't have to invade his room and force him to bed. However, something told him that he might be doing this alot more in the future.

"Nah, he pushed me off his bed this morning." Kaoru said, poking one of his eggs with a fork, "and he was all like 'Don't ever hug me again.' and I don't even remember ever hugging him." He stabbed into the egg yolk, watching as it dribbled out of the puncture wounds. Sighing quietly, he dragged a piece of fish that he'd taken through the egg, before popping it into his mouth.

Gretchen still smiled.
"But he no throw you out immediatly." she pointed out finishing her eggs. "I still think he like you." Her plate was almost empty.
"Maybe you get Master Chase come outside more. He get sunlight and not get ill." she suggested.

"Well, I suppose I could force him to get out some more... I forgot my contact lenses at my old master's house." Kaoru thought aloud, poking his bottom lip with his fork, "I suppose I could try for you, Gretch. I think he'll want to be doing his work though." He ate the final piece of bacon on his plate, everything he'd taken already consumed. Not only did he eat alot, but he ate fast too.

Gretchen looked pleased.
"Yay! Maybe he smile someday! That vould be a good thing!" she said excitedly. She stood and took his plate to take back to the kitchen.
"I be going doing vork now. You have bath tomorrow. I come help you, but I vork in other places in house today. I see you a time that is different." she said skipping off to the kitchen in a good mood.

"Well, alright." Kaoru smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow when it's bath time then." He watched as she walked away, waiting until she was out of sight. Once she was, he bolted off to his room, rushing into the bathroom. He'd found a new set of clothes in his room and prepared them, stripping himself bare and practically diving into the shower. Turning up the water, he sighed with relief as the warm water hit him.
You'd never realize how great it is to bathe yourself until a crazy Dutch maid tries to do it for you. Kaoru thought, smiling as he let the water soak through his long, brown hair.
