"Yes. This student failed this round.. But probably will be able to pass the next one with the knowledge she has gained from this test." Ugu's kind green eyes went down to Mai. From his mountainous height of 7'1 feet he smiled benevolently, admiring the woman's cockiness.

"Are you alright? Are you part of my class..?"

"Yeah.. I'm alright, I'm also part of your class, I was here while you and Tsai were sparring against people" she told him. "What am I going to do this class...?" she asked him as she paced back and forth.

"By the name my name is Takahashi Mai, please to meet you" she said as she bowed. She almost forgot to be polite to the teacher.

"Ah.. Well then.." His right hand entered the bag on his hip. Ugu's fingers wrapped around a pen and a clipboard. He pulled forth the attendance sheet and checked off two name: Takahashi Mai and Ugu Annie. "Well. Glad to have you here Takahashi-kun." His eyes went toward his still curled up sister.

"Sorry about Annie. She doesn't take defeat well."

"It's okay, what are we doing today?" she asked now that she was more so back to herself. "Any new techniques today? New training activities?" she continued on with her list. With each question Mai was as interested to learn as possible.

Kinzo walked in behind Mai, a good 50 feet behind where she was walking. He hadn't bothered to notice her, though. He was rather busy looking at the slip of paper he had been given. It was a class for zanjutsu skills. For the past half an hour, he had been looking for the class, knowing he wouldn't be likely to find it. Directions weren't his strong point in any situation. As soon as he found the dojo that he was supposed to enter he found Mai and the teacher holding a conversation, yet Kinzo had been incapable of catching anything of it, either from his reading or his light blonde hair had buffeted the noises from reaching his ears.

"Basic zanjutsu techniques? Is that this class? I'm Yamura Kinzo, and I'm supposed to be here for my first class. If this is the wrong room, just tell me, I've already gotten it about 5 times before." Kinzo folded up the piece of paper he had been immersed in and tucked it into the belt of his red gi.

Mai stopped talking for a second. She looked at the boy. "Another newbie.." she thought as she examined him from where she stood. She had no interest in him but acted friendly.

"You got the right class" she told him as she got back to the conversation with her sensei about the class activities.

"Finally. I'm glad I can get to some realy practice!" Kinzo was anxious, even if his turn wasn't coming up any time soon, whether it was or not. He looked around, surveying the room. He realized that there was a rack of wooden swords, and he just remembered his own zanpakutou that he had been carrying all the way there. He reached behind his back, where it was in it's sheath on the bottom of his back. He unhooked it, sheath and all, and leaned it up against the boken rack as he took one of the shorter ones in his other hand. He made sure it was a good weight for both one and two handed wielding. He expected he would have to use two hands, even if he liked using one hand more.

Ugu looked upon the three shinigami-students. "Well.." A smile came to his face, brightening his scarred physique. "I guess we should start on the first lesson of Zanjutsu," he said as he sat down on the wooden floor. The planks beneath him creaked slightly as his buttox fixed itself on the hard floor. He then crossed his legs, slowly, by shifting his massive legs.

"There is one main goal in this class. Can anyone guess what that is? Also, new fellow.. I'll need to get your name."

Mai sat down. "To be more agile with our zampakuto?" she asked if she was correct. She no idea what she was talking about. Mai looked around there seemed to be only three students...strange, there should be more.

Annie remained in her little curled ball as she listened to her brother. It was the same thing he preached to her day in and day out. 'Solidarity with oneself'. She whimpered and sniffed a little as she turned a small bit more away from the teacher. Another sniff came from her as she faced the opposite wall away from Zenmaru.

"My name is Yamura Kinzo, sir. I presume you are our sensei? I don't know your name either. Nor do I know what is wrong with the miss on the floor." In a second Kinzo was next to Annie, kneeling next the girl who was in obvious pain. "Are you alright? Do you need help up?" Kinzo offered his hand, after setting down the practice sword. "If you keep lying there, you won't be able to participate in the training and we might end up tripping over you." Kinzo smiled at the girl, waiting for the girl to accept his help.

Mai crossed her arms. She couldn't stand the sight of beat down person. She was once at the stage in her life. Not anymore . Mai took both her zampakuto's off her belt and lay them on the rack. She took a band out and tied up her hair into a pony tail.

She then picked up two bokken's, since she did wield two zampakutos, and proceeded back to sit down and await instructions from sensei. She was particularly interested in this class because she wasn't really sure how to use her zampakuto so well as of yet. Sure, she knew the basics but she wanted to know how to fight with Sai's more efficiently, this class may even provide the answer to her questions.

"Oh.. Just ignore Ann. She's normally like this after fighting someone," the teacher said, rather blandly, as he continued to sit on the floor. "Anyways, the answer to my first question was 'mastery of self', which is pretty much what Zanjutsu truly is. Mastery of yourself equates to mastery of an extension of yourself: your zanpakutou." A smile came to his face, then, as he looked upon the three students. "Mastery of self comes through experiencing trials of life. Mostly, at least. There are exceptions.."

"..But those don't matter right now." His hands went into his pouch and retrieved a sheet of paper. With the paper he held a pen and scratched off Kinzo's name. "Well, Kinzo annd Mai, I hope you two are ready for some sparring." Ugu stood up, then. His right hand slid to his right hip to grip the tapped handle of his bokken. He slid the stick from his belt and placed it infront of himself, with both hands attached to its very base, so that its very tip points 45 degrees from his chest.

"Well. Both of you: come at me with all you got. Ann will join in after she takes her little breather. Feel free to use any Zanjutsu or sword techniques you've learned so far on me." A breath came from his mouth. The carbon dioxide flow from his lips and burned in the air to form a white-ish mist. "If I cannot survive your attacks I do not deserve to be your teacher," he said, finally, with a wink.

Mai chuckled at this exercise, it seemed pretty much the same as the Zanjutsu class that she went to two days ago. She twirled the two bokkens and broke them in half so they were the same size as her Sai's. She rushed towards Humbra with both of them and slashed vertically and then spun around and slashed diagonally.

"Ah. Interesting." He took a step back, shifting out of the way of the oncoming two slashes. "Two weapons. Hm. Strange, though, that you attempt to attack me in the most normal fashion ever." His eyes went to the woman's stretched arms and how she had went full on toward him. He also noted the wierd spin she had done.

"You shouldn't spin around in combat. It.. Isn't quite useful, tactfully, at your level. It opens you to an attack when your eyes are in another direction than of your opponent."
