(this is what the note said)

~Meet me in the plains if allies you seek. There we will see if you are trust worthy.~

Mollie raced the the camp with her troops close behind only to find humans and dark elves alike fighting each other and the light elves. "Lord Rinzen!" She called through the camp turned battle grounds. Her lord was fending off yet another of the dark elves that had attacked suddenly. "Mollie find them. Help them." She need not be told who she was to help but she frowned at having to leave her lord. "I will return!" She called to him before making her way through the camp and then beyond to find their guests.

Rinzen did his best not to harm his foes too badly...at least the elves anyway. He wanted answers as to why they had been attacked by them. In the back of his mind he was hoping it was a misunderstanding. That or else the young princess had more to worry about then a war with the humans...she would have to worry about a coup. (I think thats how you spell it I am not sure^_^;;; )

Valery quickly shook her head, her smile fading, "No. Don't do that-please, I don't know what I'd do without you" She smiled once more, her gaze showed quite plainly that she meant it. She suddenly changed the subject, "Are you okay, my friend?"

Korgath thought, then swallowed the note. "Not bad" he grunted, before heading for the plains. Finally...this war will be over soon he thought to himself, a slight smile appeared on his face.

Kahlan sheathed her sword back into it's scabbard, then looked into Valery's eyes. Kahlan felt as if she had been reduced to nothing more than a human. She was totally out of line, but for some odd reason, she continued.

It's true you know...how I feel...but it doesn't matter...I am nothing but a friend to you...please, just ignore what I said and put it aside...It will not happen again, I promise...

As Kahlan bowed, a lone tear fell from her cheek.

"Kahlan..." Valery whispered the name, no emotion playing on her face, "I am...sorry...."

Just then, out of the brush appeared Carth Onasi. He looked at the two young women, then breathed a sigh of relief. Kahlan on the other hand, was already at his throat with her sword. It seemed that, because she was unconcious, she didn't know that it was Carth who had saved them. In a few seconds, Kahlan was going to slit his throat. Hopefully, Valery would stop her time.

Korgath arrived in the plains. He looked around for whoever had sent him the message. "Where are these so called 'allies'?" he asked himself.

"Wait," Valery jumped with haste to make sure hte one who saved them didn't fall to harm-it jsut wasn't polite for one. "This man saved us, Kahlan." She nodded her head politely in his direction, a sign of respect.

Kahlan ceased her actions and let Carth go. Kahlan couldn't believe it. A human helped them? She took a few steps back to get a good look at his familiar face. Kahlan then remembered that he was the man from the creek. That made her want to kill him even more, but he had saved Valery, so she would let him go.

Why did you help us? We are enemies!

The light elf camp was a blaze so it was easy to spot on the plains. Rinzen was taking care of putting out the fire and tending to the wounded.

Mollie was close to where the girls had gone and within seconds she could heard them talking...to someone.

Valery looked up to Carth and Kahlan wondering. She could tell they had seen eachother atleast once before, though she wouldn't inquire. She nodded, wanting to know why he had done so also. "Yes, I would like to know too..."

As Kahlan and Valery listened, Carth explained his reasoning for helping them against the mysterious dark-elves that attacked.

When we heard that the princess of the dark-elves was to meet in this area, we sent a squad of our troops to try and intercept them.

Kahlan remembered the attack that had ended up wounding her side. It was them that did this to her, but she decided to let Carth explain their reasoning.

When we we found out that the princess had fled with her bodyguard, we decided to follow them. That's when you two ended up at the light-elven camp. Obviously they had a healer because according to my men, you were hurt pretty bad! Anyway, that explains why I was spying on you as you were---err---uhhh---bathing.

Kahlan withdrew her sword, pretending like she was going to kill him.

You had best erase that from your mind, or I will cut it out for you!

Relax! I could have killed you right there, you didn't have your armor on! But I didn't did I?

Kahlan backed down and let Carth continue.

We were about to attack you and the light-elves, when those dark-elves attacked from out of nowhere! In order to defend ourselves, we decided to fight back.

Kahlan eyed Carth carefully.

That still doesn't explain why you spared us!

Carth sighed.

You really wanna know why I spared you?

Kahlan nodded.

Kahlan Amnell...You and I share the same father...I am your half-brother, Carth...

As Valery listened to the story, she hoped he didn't realize that she was the princess, fearing what may spark up if he learned that. Upon hearing hisfull explanation, Valery's eyes widened. She couldn't believe it! Shaking her head, she tried to make sense of it all.

Like I said, we share the same father, a human named Cypher Onasi...the only difference is that our mothers weren't the same. Yours, a dark-elf by the name of Krystal Amnell, mine, a human by the name of---well, that doesn't matter. Anyway, my point is, we are related. It may not look like it, but we are.

Carth spread his arms like he was going to give her a hug. When he realized that Kahlan wasn't going to hug him back, he extended his hand instead. A handshake would have to do.

So...I think we should check back at the light-elven camp. My men have probably managed to rid them of the dark-elves. By the way, why were your own kind attacking you?

His question was for Valery to answer.

"Thats a good question human." Mollie said as she came from behind the tree where she was hiding. She looked at this man before looking at Valery and Kahlan. "ARe either of you dear ladies harmed?" She had her sword out and was ready to defend her lords guests.

Rinzen had managed to get the fires put out and was reorganizing the camp. He relized that the humans had helped them this time and he was suspisious but did not stop them. His men also didn't trust these humans and kept alert. A scout came to Rinzen's ear and whispered of a Orc wandering the plains. "Go and bring him. I think I know what he wants."
