Kalula couldn't be happier with this new worker. She was understanding and nice, and considering how backwater Kalula was considering magical creatures; let's just say understanding was useful.
She shook her head. "Oh no thanks, I've been pretty caffeinated since I got here, I should probably stop." Kalula could see them getting along almost too easily. Add centaur to Kalula's slowly growing list of magic friends! A soft sigh wasn't enough but it was definitely warranted when Ebony spoke of the bathroom. "It should be fine, if not I have pretty big connections." Fixing a toilet should be nothing when you're dating king of the dragons. She crossed her arms, finally starting to feel at ease with this new transition. She hurried behind the counter and continued scanning away the last book order.
"Hey hey, what can you bench Ebony? I might need a bit of help whenever the loading trucks come. Oh and sometimes libraries run out of room and often sell their books here, which means heavy boxes." Kalula was rather surprised with how quickly she was already making small talk, this was nice.

She was sure she'd enjoy working here, especially since Kalula was so nice about everything. The bookstore she owned looked great and appeared to keep a nice stock of product. If business goes well, Ebony might try to see if Kalula has any intentions of adding onto it. There's tons of bookshops with little knick-knacks or with yummy treats for people. It would probably add onto the good business.
She looked over at her boss when she was addressed about how much she can carry. "Well, with four legs to support me, I can handle a good bit," she beamed. The library part interested her, "Really? What kind of books does the shop usually get from them?" Ebony rarely went into the library in the city, too close of aisles half the time. She wondered if they got the old, dusty books from there. If so, perhaps classic collectors would show up wanting to look at them. ══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══

Ebony's inquiry wasn't uncommon. A lot of people questioned how bookstores and antique stores were run. "Well it really depends on local popularity. If a certain book or series becomes popular then it can often become overstocked in most libraries. I usually get the cleaned leftovers. Sometimes it has to do with local events. I remember in my hometown a big convention was held there on idols. My um...ex husband wanted me to sing in some ridiculous outfit but...that's off topic." Kalula paused, a nervous laugh escaping her. She wasn't one to talk about Him, and she wasn't one to talk about Him to strangers indefinitely. Ebony wasn't exactly a stranger but she definitely wasn't any form of confidant Kalula could need right now.
"Anyway, the convention increased the popularity of vocal books and idol history documents as well so my old bookstore sold out on Idol merch almost immediately. You just have to play it by ear I suppose. If you ever wanna order a book let me know, we work like a library in that respect and can get some really rare stuff if we try. Of course you'll get an employee's discount."

She was curious how that system worked and, with the simple explanation given, she understood it. She nodded when she mentioned the employee discount when she ordered books. Ebony didn't even know what she might even order! "Thanks, I'll remember that if any good books I don't already own come out. I have a good bit at home so I have more than enough reading material before bed," she laughed. Her evening after dinner was usually sitting on her couch and curling up with a book, maybe a blanket over her lower body. During winter, she'd make hot choco and treat herself with adding whipped cream on top of it when chocolate syrup over that. She didn't even want to know the calories in that drink, especially since she made one once a week during the cold months!
"About the conventions," she started, "Is idol related books still the craze or is there something new?" Ebony would have to learn the tricks of the trade to help keep stress of Kalula when it came to keeping up with the popular themes. Two pairs of ears were better than one! She wanted to ask about her ex husband, but from her reaction Ebony saw that was a touchy subject. She wasn't about to force her boss to dive into a topic that brought back memories, especially if it was a nasty divorce or something. Ebony's race usually mates for life, but during the single stages they usually are very picky about who they date for that reason. ══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══

"Um, not really. Here in Janhall the current craze is magic, apparently some guy has been coming around burgling people who piss him off. No one knows how he does it so many people attribute it to magic. Lots of my how to books on magic are already gone as well as biographies written on different magicians in the past. People are also becoming quite interested in cookbooks and children's books for whatever reason. I have a shipment of new children's books and YA fantasy coming in next Friday so be ready for that." It was during this rather lengthy speech that Kalula felt pretty proud. She wasn't one to find great things out about herself but she definitely felt good about her job. Her work ethic was on point.
Kalula sat on down at her counter and started taking inventory of the electronic stocks before writing a few things down on sticky notes to remember. "I'm actually really happy you're here though Ebony, this place this place will be so much easier to handle now that I'm not alone." She sighed, starting to feel a bit more comfortable around this new soul. "How about you tell me a bit about yourself? What made you wanna work in the bookstore?"

She had heard about the burglaries, it was most definitely a scary thing to know a wrong opinion could lead to someone in your house when you're out or even asleep for that matter! "I guess that just means you and I will have to try our best to keep the customers calm and happy until that guy is caught," she nodded. They'd probably need to order more magic books or something if that's what the guy is after. Last thing she'd want is to come into work and the books be everywhere on the floor! Ebony smiled at the mention of cookbooks, "I know I like them! My body can't really handle meats, so I try to stick to vegetarian style dishes," she said.
Ebony leaned against the counter, her arms crossed on it. The bookshop was so relaxing to her, almost in its own little world away from the noise of the city. "I'm glad to be a helpful hand, plus having a cart animal will help transport things," she laughed, joking. Though, she has pulled a cart before. Its just easy to do when you're having to walk and carry a lot. Mind, she hasn't done it since she was a young centaur! Ebony tapped her chin in thought to Kalula's question. "I guess because I like books, I have a ton at my house. Finding out about the latest ones and maybe helping someone find a series they can get into sounded like a good job choice. Do what makes you happy, right?" ══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══ ═══

Zuus ~ Necromancer, LibrarianKnowledge is everything, and can even transcend death as we learn from those in the great Pasts. The past year had been interesting. The local library had been finished, the magical portals re-set to the Wizards' College Library. A few screaming nightmares had gone around but the source couldn't be confirmed, although a certain dark spirit had thrown tantrums for quite a while. Rumors, deaths, births...it'd been Life, basically. A young woman stood in a corner, checking a pocket watch, the chain apparently attached to nothing despite its clear dip with gravity. Palest lilac eyes, no longer restrained behind blue lenses, seemed intent on its face. Where is he... Zuus murmured, shaking her head and slipping the watch into a pocket. Well, the motion was like that, although the watch simply vanished. She had gotten more comfortable with what she was, in this strange town. No more stupid Glamour, no more annoying contacts... She was simply the 'elf' Librarian, even though Zuus knew she was no Elf. Buuut she didn't think they'd be happy knowing she was a...still practicing...necromancer. That tended to set people off. Tapping her leg, Zuus thought about the past year. Ups and downs, the Library acting up. The sentient one. It had seemed worried about something, and it had been busy keeping it calm, lest it eat any of the students that tried to venture into the 'normal' part of it. It had a habit of acting up, sometimes opening portals to Somewhere Else, whether in Space or along Time. It was quite frustrating, really. Will had helped, and Zuus had kept into contact with the Wizard. He was interesting, shier than most of the magical folk Zuus was constantly exposed to at the College. He was supposed to meet her here, but seemed to be late. Zuus stood there, impatiently tapping her leg with her fingers again, reading a book...she'd brought it in with her, thank you very much...about Ancient civilizations. The other day, a pygmy had ransacked one of the Elsewhere places in the Library, and Zuus had been working on putting him back where he belonged. I do not fear Death, as I have seen his work.

Mini Danny There was suddenly the pitter patter of steps that couldn't come from anything but a young child. A young boy with noticeable familiar features who looked to be 5 years old suddenly ran into the book store. "Kalulaaaa~!" The 103 cm height boy said cheerfully when he saw the young lady. "I missed you!" He said with a bright smile as he ran to her and hugged her before looking up at her with light tears in his eyes, "I'm really sorry what happened a few days ago after the movie.. I didn't mean to scare you." He said as some more tears came to his eyes as he suddenly spoke about something that should have only been known by 4 people in total, yet this boy right here knew all about it.

Talking with Ebony was slowly becoming easier. The girl was so cool, and so easy to talk to. She seemed to be really down to earth and Kalula needed so much of that in her life. From dating king of the dragons to having a siren/killer roommate and a random psycho killer encounter....she needed so much stability. A few days ago she even handled that ghost that had been bothering her. It turned out that he was copying the MO of a certain killer in the scary book collection she received when she got here. His motives of scaring people were simple but he never really killed anyone, he just wanted someone to finish the story.
His sister finished that story for him and killed him. He was so crazy upon death that his ghost actually forgot that his own death was on purpose. You can't really get anyone in trouble for cooperating together on someone's death right? Either way...Kalula had been scared the whole time. She wanted Danny by her side and for the longest time she wished he would just come find her instead of giving her some stupid word to say if she needed him. 'Be a man for me...'
She had completely missed Ebony's rather racist joke towards herself which was downright hilarious. "Yea...do what makes you happy." She crossed her arms for a second and closed her eye's, finally basking in the normality. Everything was normal...everything was-
Just then, soft patters against her floor drew her attention and something grabbed rather tightly onto her skirt. She looked down to see, black hair, blue streaks, and black clothes... Be a man...be a man...why did she have to think about those exact words?
Immediate thoughts flew through her head. He continued to speak until he looked up to her with those tears. He was more adorable than Rose... He was sorry about- Oh...Oh no....
"Danny?" She voiced, almost taken completely by her own mental madness.

It had been a while since Will had visited the library. He was busy with family life and his teaching job. Even now he was on stand by of his aunts will. At least nothing had happened yet and he was willing to take a break and read. The wizard found his way into the library and started to walk up and down it's rows of books, trying to find something that called to him. This time it was a book on the history of magic users. Maybe it was time he refreshed his memory on the events of the past.

angelmage99 Umm....this is a bookstore XD not the Library; I need to update the library s: Zuus ~ Necromancer, LibrarianKnowledge is everything, and can even transcend death as we learn from those in the great Pasts. Getting impatient, since Will was supposed to have met her there some minutes ago, Zuus started looking around. Maybe he WAS there, and just hadn't found her yet...the man was the sort to get lost into a book. Usually a trait that the Librarian appreciated, but when it came to punctuality, it was just frustrating. Maybe he's just lost...? a familiar presence murmured, voice quieting at a glare coming from the Librarian. She sighed and eased back her expression. Not her Library...either one of them. Not her place. Go look for him, then she murmured in a quiet, calm tone, pale lilac eyes looking around with a raised brow. It was a decent-sized store, although Zuus wasn't ever really fond of the fiction of these days. She'd seen much better, and all those fans over the Twilight series tended to make the Librarian feel quite violent. Soooo ridiculous, and all the SQUEALING... Rubbing at a pointed ear in a distracted habit, Zuus waited, reading her current book from her personal collection as the fire-like spirit looked for William. It was something he was good at, anyways, so he'd find the wizard quite quickly. I do not fear Death, as I have seen his work.

Will was so engrossed in his book that the only thing that make him look up was the change in light. He ignored all the people that went by him and the noises. He was from a large family and he was used to that much, but when the fireball found him, the man looked up. "Oh." He commented and stood up. He tucked the book under his arm. "Zuus is looking for me right? Well lead the way." He told the orb.

angelmage99 I didn't think about WHY they'd be meeting XD sorry to put you on the spot like that ^^; Zuus, always doing research lolol...lol? Zuus ~ Necromancer, LibrarianKnowledge is everything, and can even transcend death as we learn from those in the great Pasts. Err...actually, she's been waiting for you to meet her, like you guys agreed, for almost the past half hour... the orb commented, seeming sheepish. Seeming to twist slightly, as if tilting the 'head' that was the purple orb's 'face', there was a vaguely bemused air. If the spirit had shoulders, he'd probably shrug. That WAS today, right? he asked, before moving away to lead Will back to Zuus. Moving quickly, she barely glanced up from her own reading, giving Will a very Librarian expression with a raised brow. Where were you? she asked, standing and closing her book. Granted, it wasn't anything OVERLY important, like when Zuus had needed some extra muscle to help with the Library going unstable, but still. Punctuality was still punctuality. Granted, Zuus wasn't being overly annoyed or sharp in tone, but she still seemed...if not actually ANNOYED, exasperated. Go ahead and explore, but stay out of trouble Zuus directed towards the orb...the spirit...who bobbed once and went off with an excited Wheeeee~! and was gone. Zuus just shook her head slightly, but not as if annoyed. She'd 'lightened up', some, away from work. But Zuus was still Zuus...the caretaker of the Wizards' College sentient Library. She was its Librarian, and that needed a firm and steady hand. Zuus looked to Will, one corner of her lips twitching upwards slightly. It wasn't QUITE a smile, but Zuus showed more expression around Will than others. She was still learning, a bit, about modern Society and 'socializing', after all. So...you're finally here. Were you able to find the book I asked about, or not yet? she asked. I do not fear Death, as I have seen his work.

Looked at he woman and smiled as he held up the book that he had been reading. "Reading." He answered about where he had been then dropped the book down to his waist and frowned. "Listen. I may not be able to stay long. There is a criminal on the loose and my family has swore to capture him. I could be called away at any moment." He warned the woman before he raised his free hand. "I found the book at least." He said as it materialized . "It wasn't easy mind you." He added as he stepped forward and handed Zuus the book. "Too make matters worst about this criminal is that he has powerful allies. The vampire-god Imhotep ranks among his friends as well as the Angel of judgement, the royal family of the elves in the Western Woods, and the royal family of fairies in the Eastern forest." It was dangerous and even Will couldn't promise to come back unharmed.
