Matt couldn't help but let out a long sigh as he entered the school in the early morning. It was going to be his first day in this high school as a transfer student and he wasn't able to feel very much motivation, but as usual he hid his thoughts behind an accustomed facade of a kind smile and appeared to be relaxed because you never know who could be watching. 'Well, there are things that you generally can learn in school thanks to gossip and such, but sometimes I hate these 'roles' I get.' He thought to himself as he walked towards the teacher's lounge. Under the sleeve of his left forearm was a computer wrapped around his forearm, codenamed 'Orion', was something that he got from one of the more advanced worlds he had been to, and could easily surpass even the best computers in this version of Earth. It was something that he usually had on him so that he could hack things with ease. Pulling up his sleeve to look at the map displayed on the Orion's screen before lowering the sleeve. He came upon the door of the Teacher's Lounge and straightened his bag that was hung over his shoulder and knocked on the door with his kind facade upon his face and demeanor.

Harper was early to work every day, no matter what. She always left her home at the same time each morning, dropping her daughter off at the babysitter's at 6:45 and making it to the school by 6:50. She always went to the teacher's lounge, happy to have access to the cappuccino machine. By 7:00 she had a cup of fresh coffee in her hands, with about fifteen minutes left before the morning's first bell.

As Harper sat on the sofa, she would look up every now and again when somebody came in or exited, occasionally making small talk but mostly sticking to a friendly smile and nod. When a knock sounded, she raised her gaze, slightly surprised to hear the sound. Yet, as she looked between the two coworkers in the room, she knew within moments that neither cared to answer the door. With an untroubled expression, she closed and set aside the magazine she'd been reading, standing with the cappuccino still in her hand. She crossed the room, opening the door when she reached it. "Hello?" she spoke her greeting with a question, a small smile on her face as she realized that this boy had knocked for the sake of being a polite student.

Matt waited rather patiently as he looked around a bit, 'School huh..? I wonder if I hadn't gotten this power, would I have been able to go to school like a normal person and be with my family? Well... Not like it matters at this point.' He thought to himself as he let out a light sigh, feeling rather irritated, but didn't let it get past his facade. His attention went back to the door as it opened as a young woman opened it, this was a person who he had also seen before, but only a few times in previous worlds he visited. "Ah, hello.. I'm the transfer student, Matthew Alfen. I was supposed to start today." He said to her with a kind smile. "I also need my schedule for classes as well." He added politely.

Harper gave an immediate nod, stepping aside to allow the boy inside the room as she spoke. "Welcome to Utivona, Matthew." She spoke kindly as she moved to retrieve a file from a desk in the room. It was clear that his arrival was expected, since getting a new student was still a rather rare occurrence in Janhall. This meant that nearly every detail was noticed, including the fact that Matthew's parents had never shown up to answer questions about paperwork. "Here are your classes, and some documents that I need your parent or guardian to sign." She handed over the small stack, held together with a paperclip. After another sip of coffee, she pointed out one spot on the schedule, her voice chipper as she told him, "You've actually got a class with me after lunch."

Can we time skip to Harper's class?

Matt smiled and nodded as he followed Harper into the room, "Thank you Miss." He replied as he watched her retrieve a file from a desk in the room. He accepted the stack of papers with a nod as he took a quick glance through them. "I see, then I will have them sign it then and bring it back in the morning." He replied with a smile and blinked a bit when she pointed to one spot on the schedule, this was apparently the class he would have with her. "Oh, then I can't wait to be in this class then." He said to her with another smile as he memorized the schedule. "Well then, I'll see you in class Miss Ross." He said with a smile, glad that this world puts also teacher's names on the schedule.

Once the boy went on his way, Harper aS just able to finish her coffee and magazine before the bell rang. She spent the next few hours teaching, each class different from the last. While Harper worked with the same guide line, she usually switched things around to conform with the personality of classes. Some seemed more hands-on, others worked better when she lectured. So while her style of teaching was truly beneficial for every student, she was always exhausted by the time lunch rolled around.

She spent the usual way, buy purchasing and eating a sandwhich from the shop down the road. Eventually, she went back to the campus, refreshed and full of wnough energy to push through the last couple of classes.

If there were a word that would describe how Matt was currently feeling, it would be irritation, even if it didn't show on his face. This was because of a few reasons, first was the fact that he had to go to school at all, second was because of all the students trying to become friends with him since it was not likely to see a human with red eyes and a hair color that wasn't white like an albino and had a normal skin tone, though it was that and probably because he was relatively good looking for a guy, something he didn't really care much for as he doesn't like contact with other people in general. And the final reason why he was irritated was because of how easy all the classes were, he would have thought that a fantasy high school like this would be much harder, but this was just disappointing. But, despite his irritation, he managed to keep his facade of a kind boy who moved around a lot as he was growing up and no talent in the use of magic. In a few of the morning classes, there were some pop quizzes that he aced easily before having Physical Education, which he at least somewhat enjoyed since he could be distracted from the irritation and practice a bit of his martial arts during warm ups, and then had lunch. There was still quite a bit of time before lunch would end, surprisingly enough, lunch breaks seemed to be rather long. During that time, the boy wandered to the school's large empty library and started looking in the history section of it.

Sinking, drifting, fading….Awake. It has been months now since Abby was "awake". She remembered that there was snow on the ground the last time, and that she didn't feel the stinging cold that people were complaining about. Now, it appeared to be a warm and beautiful day. As much as she didn't like being a spectator, she hated disappearing even more. Each day the trail grows colder, and it will be harder to find the answers she's looking for.

She wondered just how long she was gone, and decided to pay a visit to the school. A few days there would tell her if it was summer or spring, and maybe there was a calendar. It was so hard to keep track of the days, that Abby had long stopped. She only would care to know the month and the year. Based on her observations, her hibernations were random. One lasted only a few days, while others weeks or months.

As she drifted into the school, she noticed a few familiar faces. That is, faces she has seen before as a ghost…it dawned on her that she has never seen a person that she recognized from her living days. She might have passed by an old childhood friend, a sibling, or even her old parents without identifying them as such. Everyone was a stranger in her world, even those she had come to know as "friends"; those who she had followed around enough day to day that she had learned their habits, hopes, and fears. Without the ability to speak to the living, they all had no idea who she was or that she had become fond of them.

After years of this existence, Abby has accepted it. That's not to say that it doesn't bring her down from time to time. Though, she has found a way to interact. Abby found that she could move small objects, sometimes with enough force to throw them. It takes a lot of concentration, but she has come to get the hang of it.

Before she knew it, Abby was in the library. She didn't mean to come in here. Sometimes her "body" goes where it wants.

She took the time to look at the books in the aisles, the same books that were here every year. It was a little comforting to see things that never changed. After all, she never changed. She had attempted to read books on ghosts long ago, but found that it was impossible. Flipping page after page took too much effort, and someone often put the book away while she was still using it.

It appeared the library was nearly empty, besides for the young boy in the history section. This was a new face, wasn't it?

"You're new here…well, welcome to the haunted high school", she said with apathy. She spoke, knowing fully well that no one could hear.

Matt was rather glad to be alone in the library, it let him relax himself a bit and not put up his facade of a kind boy. Letting out a light irritated sigh, he was looking through a few different history books to get an idea of the history of this 'Earth'. Having been to many different Earths, naturally their histories were different whether they were in small ways or large ones, or just completely different all together. While he was reaching for another book, he felt the presence of somebody, so naturally his hand stopped, which happened to be the moment the ghost had spoken. '...Somebody is there.' He thought to himself as his guard instantly went up and he pulled back his hand and looked around for a moment. There was a light glint in his eyes that did not seem natural or from an ability, they were rather high tech contacts that he usually wore. He then looked in the direction of the ghost girl and didn't look away. "Who are you?" He asked simply as he stared at her with a frown.

She was wondering what the boy was doing in here so early in the morning when she heard him speak. Abby looked up and met eyes with him. Something stirred in her that she hadn't felt for a very long time. Certain that he was speaking to someone else, she looked behind her, only to see an empty aisle. She paused, there had to be something that she was missing. Her eyes darted around before she glanced at the boy again, who was still looking her way.

Words wouldn't come. She just kept looking at the boy who was looking at her, and not through her. She felt a mixture of disbelief, joy, and fear, and it was overwhelmingly both wonderful and terrible. The girl moved closer, wanting another reaction, anything that shows that he acknowledges her.

Matt silently watched the ghost girl as she looked behind her before looking around once again as if thinking the boy had been looking at someone or something else. It was obvious that the ghost girl was surprised about something. Most likely, it's the fact that he could see her, so when the girl moved closer, he spoke to her once again. "I said, who are you? I may not be able to hear you, but I can read your lips." He said as he continued to watch her, clearly acknowledging her. But, annoyance was slowly creeping up on his face as he waited for a reply from the ghost girl. He did wonder why there was a ghost here in the school, but it wasn't enough of a curiosity to really try and find out, he just didn't like people watching him.

The girl stopped, deciding now would be a good time to speak. She pointed at herself.

"My name is Abigail…but call me Abby"

She was getting excited for him to say her name, hoping that he read her lips right.

She used to stay around a girl named Abigail, and pretend others were talking to her instead of the student. It was embarrassingly pathetic, but it was a fun way to pass the time. It's funny how she managed to embarrass herself even though no one would ever know what she was doing. That is, until now.

It seemed that the ghost girl had gotten through her incorporeal that he was talking to her and not anyone else. He watched her lips move as she spoke, obviously not hearing her, but he did read her lips. "I see, Abby huh.." He replied as he narrowed his eyes as he watched her. "Then answer me this, why were you watching me? I do not enjoy being watched by anyone, even if they have no physical body because of death." He questioned her as he continued to watch her. His hands though went back to the bookshelf and grabbed the book he wanted to look at to begin with. He waited silently for the ghost girl to reply to his questions.

Oh no. Someone finally sees her and he's already annoyed with her. She didn't think he seemed like a friendly person either, being so formal…what bad luck. She frowned, her excitement going just as quickly as it came.

"I was just looking around…", she explained, which wasn't a lie. Abby wasn't that interested in him to begin with, and if he didn't see her, she would already be gone. "Jerk…", she added, muttering to herself.

She knew that she should be getting on this boys good side, as he was useful to her, but all she could focus on was her disappointment.

Matt saw no real reason to use his facade on the ghost girl, for one, he doubted she'd be able to tell someone about him anyway, and two, he just couldn't be arsed at the moment. He could only let out a sigh as he read her replies, "Yeah, I'm a jerk." He replied bluntly as he grabbed a few more books and started to carry the over to a nearby table. "I couldn't care less what people think about my personality, it's how I grew up. In fact, I just hate all people. You are more than welcome to look around somewhere that isn't near me." He added with another sigh as he opened he opened the book. He looked at her once more to see if she had a reply, if she didn't he would just start reading the books. The boy had a look to him that seemed to say he was a kind person, but his personality left much to be desire despite the fact it was what happened when one leaves a young boy to practically fend for himself for years.
