Infinity-Nevermore The elf decided to do nothing but now as many bandits were after Reika as were after Astara. She pulled out a dagger and pinned him to the ground with it as she turned back to her new attackers. She quickly swung her sword, cutting down the first wave. She ran into the middle of the second wave, hacking at anyone who got too close. She grabbed the man that almost killed Astara and held him in front of her. "All right. How much do you care about your friend?" She was not above dirty tactics. She narrowed her eyes. She'd temporarily stopped her death, but she knew it wouldn't be for long.
She could feel the blood pouring from the man's torso. It was making her sick, but she ignored it.
Thud. Next thing she knew was the elf who had hired her, was on top of her on the ground, knife to her throat. In that instant Reika had left him he had ripped himself out from her dagger's grip and crept up to her.
She blinked surprised and then an overwhelming pain hit her from her back. She felt anger bubbling up inside her as she knew she was helpless and going to die.
I will not die! she thought fiercely and energy poured into her. In that moment the elf was gloating she grabbed him by the neck, claws growing out from her fingers and she tightened her grip. Her eyes grew big and she grinned a toothy smile and crushed his neck. Throwing him aside like a doll she advanced to the middle of the circle, eyes glowing a brighter gold. Spots appeared on her skin and her face grew furry, she nose flattening and her teeth turning to fangs.
She roared a feline roar of battle and knocked aside bandits who were too close and slashed at ones infront of her. Astara bent down on all fours and her clothes morphed with her. A tail sprouted from the back as she was attacking, she knew nothing of what she was doing.
Astara was half jaguar and was steadily morphing. Her animal mind triumphantly knew that the remaining 10 bandits were of no match to her.
The bandits around Reika backed away.

Reika stared wide-eyed. It must be Astara, but how? She'd never seen anyone shape-shift, although she'd read about it. She was frozen in time, still holding the man in an iron grip. As she tried to process this information, she was suddenly hit with a wave of fatigue. Unable to move, her arms released the man, who'd lost so much blood that he simply collapsed, before falling on top of him. Her last thought before falling asleep was, Isn't this a load of crap, as she noticed the dart in her leg.

Nick looked in the direction of the restaurant and saw that Aji was headed her way. She did her best to put on a smile as she walked to meet the fairy. Once she had reached her, she spoke, "Sorry for running out like that, I just--", she cut her sentence off early at hearing a roar. Her right ear twitched as she caught the faint sound being carried on the wind. ....cat....big cat..., she thought to herself as she seemed to stare into nothing. After a few moments, she shook her head as to shake the thought from her. Reika didn't have any feline qualities...that she knew. Is this what I've been worried about?, she continued to think as she gave a small giggle at how silly she must have been. Something still didn't seem quite right to her, but whoever the cat was wasn't of any concern to her, Maybe it's because she's been gone for a while now. With a slight shrug, she turned to Aji and spoke, "I know of this little store that sells most awesome hair pieces", she turned her head so that the woman could see the silver and purple butterfly clip, "Interested?"

The animal looked at Reika confused, she was making no attempt to back away and collapse in front of her. The bandits had retreated into the trees and were still going further. Information processed in her "other" mind slowly.
Girl had collapsed. Everyone had seemingly retreated. No one left to kill. Her mind processed thoughts and she was utterly confused. Looking down she saw a dart protuding from Reika's leg.
Dart means there may be poison, meaning there are some unseen menace still around she looked at Reika, and felt confused at a feeling that she should not kill her.
Swishing her tail she looked around smelling with her nose a sudden pain was in her mind. She heard a swish of cloth and a whistling noise with her sharp ears and stepped to the side as a dart thudded beside her. Growling she focused her eyes to the direction it came from and lept at the black figure in a tree nearby. Grabbing hold of the figure's clothing she noticed that the person was not part of the bandit's group. Dragging the person to the ground she held them against the tree.
"Who are you?" Astara said as she regained control of her mind and shape shifted back, "What happened just then?" She asked as she looked around her at the near empty clearing. Astara only knew that Reika was shot and the person in front of her was responsible for it.

Reika was now in a state of semi-consciousness. She couldn't move, even though she wouldn't have wanted to if she could. She concentrated, hard. She started to heal herself, and cursed mentally at her lack of awareness for not noticing the dart. It could've been in her leg forever, for all she knew. Her constant exercise hadn't helped, only spreading the poison faster. She wondered if Nick could sense her weak power. She was pissed now, extremely pissed, and said to herself that as soon as she could, she'd get up and go find Nick and get some help for herself. If I'd known she could shapeshift, I'd have stayed at the inn. What a crappy day.

A acute pain lanced up from her back and she winced painfully. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch. She looked at the cloaked figure who was not answering and gave up. A thunk was heard and the figure slumped to the ground as Astara let go after she had hit them hard on the head with her claw.
Running over to Reika as fast as she could with a bolt in her back she knelt over her and felt her breathing.
"We better get back to town, if only you could help me pull out the bolt now," she frowned and noticed in the dart was poison.
Hurrying she grabbed her bag which had fallen off in the battle and passed the dead elf on the way, puzzled at his crushed neck and ripped his money pouch off him. Checking his money and satisfied at the amount she strode quickly to Reika. unbuckling her claws she compressed above the area and bound it with bandage from her bag. Astara pulled out the dart and placed in a compartment then pulled out a tiny bottle the size of her smallest finger. She bit the cork and pulled it out, then she slipped a few drops of the strange tasting potion into Reika's mouth she mumbled with the cork in her mouth:
"It would help slow the poison by decreasing you heart rate."
She packed then leaned over Reika and prepared to pick her up.
"I hope you aren't heavy. Thank you for saving me."
She smiled weakly and summoning her energy she picked her up, careful not to move her she supported her legs and back in her arms and started running at her elf speed, ignoring the pain in her back. The village came to view.

Reika felt herself being picked up and carried to town. She smiled weakly to herself and decided to take this walk toward the village to look around for Nick. As the two entered the inn, she'd managed to heal herself enough to talk. "We should find my friend. She's a half fox demon. She has a lot more experience than I with healing. Could we find her? She could probably heal you too."

"Urgh," she said as she placed Reika carefully down on a chair and slumped into one as well.
"Sure thing, I just want this bolt out of my back," Astara said tiredly and put her elbow on the table and supported her head in her hand.
"If she is a half demon she should sense us, I could go in a bit, I need a few minutes..."
Her body ached and her clothes were pretty torn from shifting and it took a lot of energy out of her, though she didn't know that.

"Great, I'll show you where", Nick said to Aji. She started to make her way towards the alley where the little shop was when she sensed Reika somewhere near. Okay, this I know I'm not imagining, she thought to herself as she picked up on the weak signal. She gave the air a small sniff and started to make her way towards the Inn, following her senses and Reika's scent. When she was in front of the establishment, she knew for sure that Reika was inside...as well as someone else.
She turned back to Aji, knowing that something wasn't right with Reika and that she probably needed help, "I have something to take care of inside. If you still want to visit the shop, keep straight down this road and you'll come to a small alley on your left. Turn down it and it'll be the third shop on your right. You can't miss it", she said the last in a cheery voice. She then gave the fairy a smile, turned and walked through the doors. She scanned the room until she spotted Reika and the other girl. She kept her eyes on the girl for a moment before giving the air another small sniff, It's her, she thought to herself as she quickly made her way over to the two. At seeing their condition, she spoke as she started to take things out of her backpack, "Well, aren't you two a sight for sore eyes. What happened?". She then laid out three small vials full of a dark green liquid, a white cloth and a couple of alcohol wipes.

As Nick was pulling out the white cloth and alcohol wipes, Aji appeared behind her. She looked over her shoulder and saw the two wounded girls. "Your friends look like they're badly injured. I can use my healing powers on their wounds, if you don't mind."

She lifted her head at the voices and vaguely remembered Nick.
"My bad. My fault, I shouldn't have dragged her in. I don't really know what happened but I was attacked and shot by surprise. Reika came in to save me and got pretty battered. I don't know what happened after but a dart was in her leg and I knocked the shooter unconcious and came back here."
She shifted her weight and immediately regretted that movement.
Wincing at the pain she saw Aji behind her, "I think you better treat Reika first."

At hearing Aji behind her, Nick nodded in response to her and smiled at the offer. She then held up her left hand and without any real effort, the hand became incased in a mist of green power, a small surge. She held her smile as she spoke, "Thanks, but I got it. I just prefer to do things the old fashioned way to better my skills. Though, you can take care of Reika's friend to speed the process up. No sense in having her wait when we have two healers here", she said in a friendly voice. The green light vanished as Nick went back to dealing with the things on the table. She looked Reika over first, deciding on the best way to go about treating her. As she did so, she listened to the other girl speak about the attack and the dart. "That's all right. You two must have been greatly out numbered. Neither of you are weak...especially you", she said in a calm voice as she searched Reika's leg for the dart wound.
Upon finding it, she called her power back to her left hand and applied it to the leg. It looked liked a nasty wound and that having it removed must have hurt a great deal. Her power would soothe the wound. As far as using her power to heal, instead of doing damage, she could ease the pain away and make any wound feel better. Though, to truly heal, she would have to call upon the power of mother nature. The thought hadn't escaped her, but she would have to move Reika outside and she didn't want to disturb her if she didn't have to.
She grabbed one of her potions, soaked the cloth in it and wrapped it somewhat tightly around the wounded area. She applied a small amount of pressure where the wound actually was, making sure that some of the potion actually got inside of it. Blood could be seen staining the cloth, but the puncture would heal twice as fast as it would normally. She then stood up and went over the other cuts and wounds with an alcohol wipe to disinfect them. Once she was done, she took out another cloth and applied her healing potion to those as well. When she had treated everything on the outside that she could see, she turned back to the other girl, "Did the dart have any poison?"

Aji nodded and walked over to Astara. She stood behind her and quickly, but carefully, pulled the bolt out of her back. Next, the fairy placed her right hand over the open wound and closed her eyes. Suddenly, a white light surrounded her hand.
As the light glowed, Astara's wound started to get smaller, until it closed up and disappeared. After the wound was healed, Aji's right hand stopped glowing and she removed it from the girl's back. "Okay, I'm done. How does your back feel?"

Reika's eye fluttered open. She wasn't back to full awareness yet, and her vision was hazy. "Astara?" she whispered. She could make out fox ears. If she had the strength, she would have smiled. "Nick." She looked around and saw a blue splotch with wings, as well as golden dots. I wonder who the other person is. I'm so tired, she thought as her eye closed again.
