Lynn smiled pleasantly standing from her desk and limped to the two new students putting a hand on each of their shoulders her tail wagging softly. "Welcome you two to my class. Why don't you take a seat and we will begin." She smiled again giving the two a small push in the direction of their desks.

Kyo cocked her head to the side and studied the two students distracted for a moment.
There was a palpable tension between those 2, they seemed to hate other, and still there was something else something more..intense.each
It was like knowing a concept but not knowing the words for it.
Kyo could sense it, but couldn't grasp what it meant.
She quickly dismissed the thought and kept her eyes on her notebook, Sean being here had put her on edge, she'd already changed in one class, She glanced at Derek who was looking at the hunter with the same wariness she had, and then some. She smiled and waved at him before returning her gaze to her notebook.

Sean and Tora both went to their seats, Sean's was near the door. Tora's was next to Kyo-and in front of Derek.
Seeing the boy glare at him Sean glared right back.

Derek didn't break the stare down until the other boy was on his seat. Once there he turned to talk to Jez his usual cocky smirk in place-though under it all his mind was racing.

Tora watched the mutual dislike between the two boys rolling her eyes.
Typical males.
She recognized the redhead as a lamia vampire but didn't say anything. Though she did frown when she picked up on the dislike she had for the werewolf girl, she seemed nice enough.
Speaking of which,
She turned to her-Kyo, that's what her name was.
"don't let the hunter get to you" she whispered to her picking up on the girl's uneasiness "You know what they say, the bigger the gun the smaller the man" she smiled at her taking out a pen and getting ready for today's lesson

Jez took out her journal, tapped Kyo's ear once each time all the while talking to Derek-she wasn't calling her puppy anymore but they weren't friends either.
She talked to Derek getting ready for the lesson all the while a telepathic conversation was going on behind very convincing appearances.
Tell the whole gang, there's a hunter on campus.

Lynn smiled at the class. "Alright class can anyone tell me what we talked about yesterday, for the sake of the two new students?" She asked scanning the class for who would like to volunteer.

"We were talking about feelings and how to portray and hide them" Kyo said raising her hand. Her ears were slightly down in shyness but she still wanted to answer the question.
"We also talked about how to spot what people are feeling"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 06, 2010 3:14 pm

Lynn smiled big. "Good job Kyo! Now today we are going to be talking about how the environment you grow up in affects how you grow up. Someone tell me how you think it could change how you grow up?"

When no one answered the question Derek figured he might as well "Iyour parents affect you " he said a pained look crossing his eyes but he quickly buried it-he was good at that. "they really affect u. Pretty much every screwed up thing in the world can be traced back to mommy or daddy issues"

Jez glanced at Derek curious of the vibe he was giving off. Vampires werent really empathic, it just wasn't in their nature. Mind games were more their fields.
But Dereks mind-which had always been oopen was a bit guarded at the moment.
She wondered if they'd have to tell how the enviroment they grew up in had "molded them or something. She realized she knew very little about her brother and was a bit curious.

Lynn watched the reaction of the boy and made a mental note. "Yes parents can affect who you will be, weather they are active in your lives or inactive. Can anyone tell me what the inactivity of a parent can cause?" She asked her ears twitching to the sounds the students made shifting around their desks.

Kyo glanced at Derek wondering why he looked so sad all of the sudden, and why just as quickly he looked as if nothing bothered him.
She shifted a bit at the subject of parents. It was a bit of a conflict zone for her.
She loved her parents and had-until very recently been on good terms with them.
But the way they'd reacted to her leaving had left a lot of doubt on how true that bond really was.
She sighed sadly looking down at her notebook. Her parents had not been absent, they'd been loving and kind and concerned for her and she'd shunned them.
Well, a childish voice that sounded an awful lot like Kyo but couldn't possibly be her said, they shunned me first. So there.
She kept her gaze on her desk and hoped she could get trough the lecture without thinking too much of her pack and the recent events that had happened before she came to Blue Moon.

Sean didn't say anything, hunter families weren't really known for being "inactive" they weren't there that often but they somehow managed to know and control your every action.
Gotta love em though

Tora didn't know what to say, her parents were anything but inactive. Her dad sometimes left to go on missions but he always tried to hurry back, same with her mother.

Again Derek was the one to answer.
"It depends on your definition of inactive" he said thinking of both his parents. "there's the well-intended but clueless parent, he'll care about you, and do anything for you but he'll tend to forget he's an adult..or that he has kids" he paused and smiled remembering how at home, he was always the one to know his younger brother's crushes and troubles in school, that his younger sister had her soccer games and the one to know that his youngest sister's favorite color changed every week "He'll be more like an older brother than a parent. As to how it'll affects you I guess you pretty much learn to handle everything yourself cuz he'll be..well, clueless. Also expect to be forgotten to be picked up from grade school middle school high school and if u have younger siblings you'll get the crash course in parenting" he half-joked with a smile. He then got the same flash of pain in his eyes but it was gone even quicker than before.
"Then there's the Houdini parent. The one that actually.." he snapped his fingers at this for effect, usual smirk in place "disappears. She won't really affect you. Cause she wont be there Though do expect her to come around once in a blue moon and find ways to make it seem like she has a right or clue about your life and everyone will go along with the act and have some cake, this will go on until she dies....or u die, whichever happens first" he joked again.

Jez glanced at derek curiously and a bit concerned. It hadn't escaped her that Derek had made the clueless parent a father and the houdini a mother or that when he said Houdini didn't affect you he wasn't exactly telling the truth-though he was joking it-with Derek it was hard to tell, even for her.
And she also knew Derek had lived with his dad and step mom. He'd never so much as mentioned his mother..
...and now she got it.
She felt a growl rise in her but bit it down not wanting to draw any attention. She felt a sudden need to find Derek's mother and rip out her throat,-it surprised her, she'd never really felt protective of Derek-he was too annoying. Too much like her.
Jez's mother had died, but she had been killed protecting her. And Jez had ran away to protect her family.
She had no parents, and her uncle couldn't see her, she was on her own but it had all been out of their hands
No one-not her parents or her uncle had ever abandoned her, especially as a kid.
Humans, sometimes she swore she should just go back to killing her food. Make the world a better place one despicable person at a time.
She had nothing to add, her and Derek were supposed to be siblings, and anyways, her parents were dead-how more inactive could you get?

Lynn watched Derek's reaction to the question gathering that his life as a child was a bit troubled. "Inactive can mean many things, maybe a mother or father that have nothing to do with you, or a gambling mother who pays no loving attention to you. In any case it stunts your growth, in some cases children die because their parents pay little to no attention to them. Now what about where you live, how can it affect your growing up?"

Derek shrugged, he disagreed, he hadn't needed his mom. And it hadn't affected him.
He'd been the guy all girls had wanted, the one all guys respected-mostly due to the fact that he'd been the guy to put the Dean's office furniture in the roof of the school freshman year.

You did what?!
Jez laughed glad that Derek's mind was open again, even if he still wasn't acting like himself.
She'd get to that after class. Derek may be stubborn and full of it but so was Jez.
Noticing that she was seemingly laughing for no aparent reason she coughed to hide the last of the laughter andraised her hand.
"Well, where you grow up kinda affects you too" she said "not as much as who you grw up with but..." she thought for a bit then added "people who grow up in a city place like california are different than people who may grow up in a more...hole on the wall place...like Ontario"

"Easy on Ontario" Derek said under his breath glaring playfully. He'd grown up in Ontario-after England it wasn't...
Ok yeah.

Tora frowned a bit at the "hole in the wall" expression but it just seemed jez generally expressed herself that way
"It's more than just the place you grew up in though" she said the way people around you can act towards certain things can affect how you feeel about them. Everything you learn you learn from those around you" She looked at Sean "though at some point you have to use your own head"

Sean roled his eyes and sneered at the shifter
"Does it get boring" he whispered "being so righteous?"

"It flares up around guys with overcompesating guuns" she hissed back with a too sweet smiled. the little exchange happened right after Tora answered.

Lynn chuckled at the conversations she could hear going around in class. "Where you grow up can have a huge affect on you. Say you grow up in a state with high religious power such as the Mormons in Utah. Or Catholics in Italy. Before your old enough to think you have a religion because of where you live. Sometimes people can go their whole lives without knowing there is anything different, that there are other ways to live."

Kyo wrote down everything Ms. Lynn said in perfect scripted cursive. She underlined Mormons in Utah and Catholics in Italy making a side note to look up what they were.
The last line she wrote in black ink-as opposed to the blue one she was using as well as underlined.
I'm going to need a bigger book, she thought dryly. She'd been reading about everything she didn't know-a broad subject indeed. Writing down everything she didn't know from her class lectures to look up at a later time.
Now she had two more to add to the list.
What she did understand was what it meant to think a certain way before you're old enough to think.
Which was why before she knew it she was raising her hand.
"why would someone choose to do that?" she asked raising her hand "isolate themselves from everyone else? And doesn't anyone ever try to reach them?"
Because really they weren't physically hidden from others.
It wasn't as if they were like her pack and on an enclave.
Were they?
She really needed to find that book on religion.

Derek stared at Kyo knowing she was thinking because she had her head tillted to the side.
He smiled considering the posibility that maybe she didn't know what the teacher had been talking about, like she was trying to figure it out.
There was something about Kyo that reminded him of his youngest sister-and she was nine!
Something about the way she looked at things, the way she carried herself. Like she'd never seen things before and was torn between utter fascination and complete apprehension.
He thought about maybe talking to her after class just in time to realize Jez would most likely skin her and turn her into a fur coat.

"]And a nice quilt to match"] Jez whispered to him knowing Derek hated the whole differences between races thing-mostly because he didn't understand it. He wasn't the one who grew up with it.
She didn't know why the idea of Kyo and Derek hanging out bothered her and she didn't really want to give it much thought.

"like the dammed day breakers" Sean said under his breath rolling his eyes. Daybreakers, witches shifters and other creepy crawlies as well as humans who wanted everyone to...sing kumbaya or something.
"Maybe because it''s not a bad thing" he said to Kyo a bit more harsher than he meant to he softened his tone slightly so that it was neutral "there's nothing wrong with honoring your family, being proud of your history, of your heritage. Having a comunity a family values you can resort to when push comes to shove .How can you know who you are if you don't know where you come from?" Here he did something he probably wouldn't be too proud of if he wasn't the textbook example of the subject matter ( he had ancestors beheading vampires in the Mayflower and burning up Wendigos in Plymouth)
But he felt he needed to drive the point home. As if defending (justifying) "having a religion before you could think" (hunting before you could count) suddenly became important.
" What's that they said after all?" he said unable to keep the sneer off his face as he stared Kyo down "The strength of the pack is the wolf... ?"
