Finnegan supposedly ran across Lionel and the ladies.

"Do... do you even know what he wants? Or why?" Elizabeth asked. "He must have some way that he can actually convince you he's worthy to command your loyalty, right?"

"I told you," Lionel informed Clarissa. "His name is one of the limits. I cannot identify him. And let me put it this way. The Thief is very powerful, right?" He waited for assent. "This one is beyond the Thief. He commands no loyalty, only well-deserved fear."

Finnegan definitely ran across Lionel and the ladies. He came to a halt, "Now what's going on here?" he said, taking a deep breath, "Nevermind, back up, coming, not for us. We should go."

He looked at Lionel and waved, "You can stay, in fact, stay here, we'll go."

"None of you," Lionel growled, "Leave. You clearly have not been here while I discussed this with them. So let me make this doubly clear. You are not leaving." The sword in Lionel's hand swept back and forth as Lionel smote the air. "Got it?"

"You just said you couldn't kill us. So please just let us go." Perhaps it wasn't wise to speak up, but Clarissa really didn't want to stay around the man. Especially when he'd just been out to slice her.

She'd stayed behind Elizabeth, slightly shaking in fear.

Finnegan groaned in protest, "You girls leave." he told them, swing his arms loosely up, "I'll do what I can to keep him here."

He sighed and shook his head, "I hope you're different than your friend H." he said, taking his stance, "We stood for a good three minutes lookin' at each other, we did."

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear; Johann and Host-Agent H emerged from the facility and saw the group. Smirking evilly, the two made their way over. They seemed content, however, to stand and watch as Lionel attacked.

Helena had it PERFECT. Perfecting timing, perfect lunge, perfect swing, perfect EVERYTHING. But no, this b*****d had to go and throw her on her a** like he had eyes in the back of his goddamn head. She landed with a pained exhalation and grimace. She was back on her feet again in no time, though, and felt it was time to contribute something more than just a pair of nigh indestructible blades.

"Lionel, I hate to be the blunt one, but it'll play out one of two ways. You die fighting for him, or you die fighting with us. Not for us. With us. Because we care for our kin; we're all we've got and need all the help we can get. Please, answer the questions. Please help us.

"Because I don't want to have to kill such a kind man."

"Firstly, you cannot prevent me from preventing them from leaving," Lionel informed Finnegan. "Secondly, you clearly do not understand the full picture. I can still accomplish what I want - no, need to accomplish - without disobeying Him. Your choice of alliance, while I suppose honorable, is unfortunate, since you have been deceived by him as much or more than by we. Him, of course, referring to the Thief," Lionel clarified. "Indeed, he knows this as well as we do. However, no more of that." Lionel smiled grimly.

"I am afraid that I must prevent you from being a fighting force. I don't know what I'll have to do to cripple you permanently, since you may well heal, but it needs to be done." With that, he lunged again, this time for Finnegan - wow, he was fast, ducking under the inevitable counterattack and bringing his blade at Finnegan's back.

Clarissa did not have any idea how to get out of the place. It seemed impossible especially when the GM won't give the RPers a way out.

The gods were on their side, apparently. Johann's phone let out a polyphonic tweet before playing a song. Helena and Elizabeth looked at each other with raised eyebrows and Elizabeth mouthed, "Ride of the Valkyries?"

Johann's attention was elsewhere, though; his eyes were wide as he answered with hesitation. He listened for about ten seconds before recoiling, as though someone had hung up on him - hard. He murmured to Host-Agent H, who came forward.

"Lionel. The mission has been called off. We need to return to base." He glanced at Johann, who looked like he was about to be sick. Or start pacing. Or get sick pacing. "Now, Lionel."

As if to assist, Harry appeared out of a portal and waited silently. Johann and H went through, leaving Lionel to glare with open...well, some kind of emotion, at the Hosts before grudgingly making his way into the portal. Harry patted Lionel on the back as he went through and prepared to follow. He looked dead at Helena before stepping in and closing the portal.

The Hosts had been lucky this day - very lucky. There would have been no way to get out if something hadn't intervened on their side. They figured they should collect The Thief and escape.

"Where would we be without Deus Ex Machina...?" Elizabeth dared to ask, noting how many times in the recent past they'd been saved by complete coincidences or a much stronger ally appearing to fight on their behalf.

Helena was even more irate with them leaving. All this adrenalin, all this God-essence flowing and they just up and left with "Ride of the Valkyries" stuck in her head, and a cold stare from that one punk she'd nearly killed. Oh, she couldn't wait for the rematch. "******** Deus Ex Machina! ********!" She growled the last word as she spun around and hacked a chunk out of the SUV's bumper. Her attempts to vent some of this excess energy returned unsatisfying results.

Then she took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. "I suppose we should... what? Go?" With a little extra mental prodding, the blades were hands in just under 30 seconds. Then she took hold of Clarissa and Elizabeth by the upper arms. "Come on, ladies," she ushered in a much quieter- see: defeated- tone. "We'll... figure something out."

Gently she pulled them both toward the SUV. "You too... Finn was it?" Grissom glanced over her should as she guessed his name. "We can't stay here. We have to round up the crew and ship out. Isn't safe here."

Without another word, she heeded her own advice and clambered in behind the wheel. "Seatbelts," she muttered, then after a few seconds laughed raucously. "Oh God, we just narrowly avoided three death-dealing demigods and I'm making sure everyone's got a damn seatbelt..." She chuckled much softer the second time, and it was wry as the smile on her face.

"Well, after all we just went through a bad car crash would be a pretty boring way to die. A real letdown, right?" Elizabeth asked, a hint of hysteria in her laughter.
