the parts for it aren't made anymore, i have to replace everything except one of my harddrives, my case, my DVD drive and maybe i can salvage my power supply, most motherboards now only support 2 IDE devices and i have three so i have to get a SATA harddrive as well

What three IDE devices do you have? Two hard drives and a DVD drive? If you are considering(or have already gotten) a new motherboard, you maybe still be able to use all three devices if you get an IDE/SATA adapter for one of them. 3nodding
I've bought a few before that allowed SATA drives to hook up to IDE ribbons. You'd just need the reverse adapter. mrgreen

its cheaper to get a new SATA drive than to get a converter here, besides i need to update my harddrives, they are as old as the system

Wow, cheaper to get new drives? Converter's barely for $30 when I buy them online, but oh well. I'm betting some of your drives only have 40-80gb storage or something like that?
I remember my very first computer had a total HD storage space of 1.01gb and thought THAT was huge. Nowadays I have double that storage space both on my Ipod AND other little media players. xp
