"No need to get defensive, ma cherie," James said in a calm, soothing voice. "I simply meant that asking if you liked getting attention was a tamer way to put it instead of saying something else," He explained. "I wasn't implying anything negative towards you," He said calmly, then looked at Cloe with innocent blue eyes, waiting for her to respond.

Cloe took James's glass anyway and refilled it. When she came back Cloe half-bowed, handing James the glass.
